Summary: (Y/N) and Changbin haven’t seen each other for as long as three weeks due to (Y/N)’s exams and deadlines and Changbin working on his group’s upcoming comeback. After (Y/N)’s exam season ends, she tries to contact Changbin to finally spend some time together but (Y/N) starts to feel neglected after he declines her many offers. (Y/N) thinks nothing about it up until one night when Changbin flat out dismisses her affection.
Hello everyone! This is my first ever Stray Kids imagine(: If you have any requests for imagines, scenarios, etc. please, please, please send me some! I have many ideas but I’d like to know what everyone would like to read!
I’m sorry for any mistakes but please enjoy!
“Hey! It’s been a while since we went out together with exams and deadlines piling up on me… but it’s all over now! So I was wondering if you wanted to go and grab something to eat-”
“ -I’m so sorry baby, but I actually can’t right now. We already went out to eat and also Chan-hyung, Jisung and I have to continue working on this song for the upcoming comeback. Next time, yeah?”
“Oh, okay. That’s fine. We can go out next time. Work hard, have fun, and let the boys know that I said ‘hi’!”
And that’s how it’s been recently. Don’t get me wrong; I, too, have been incredibly busy. Studying and trying to meet deadlines as it was that time of the semester. I also knew that dating an idol won’t always mean we would get to spend every minute of every day together. Changbin and I knew that with him being an idol (rising in fame, at that) and me being a university student, it will not be easy.
But exam season ended and I’m more than ready to spend some well-earned quality time with my boyfriend. Though, it seems as if he’s not ready to spend some time with me because for the past two weeks of no more important deadlines or tests, I’ve been trying to set up a date with him and he declined each one. He always used the same reasons; work, comeback, training– which I can’t argue or complain about because like I said, I very well knew what I got myself into by getting into this relationship with Changbin. Therefore, without wanting to be a bad, unsupportive girlfriend, I accepted each refusal.
“It’s okay. He’s busy. I’ll ask next time.” Is what I said to myself every time and today was no exception.
It’s been approximately two hours since my phone call with Changbin and I decided that I couldn’t take it any longer. I missed him too much.
I looked at my phone. 8:00pm.
I decided to clean up my apartment, do some laundry, eat dinner, then make my way to their dorms so I could at least catch up with Changbin. He gave me a spare key (with the permission of their managers and the other boys) and I would sometimes come in while they were gone and clean up a little or cook something. Even though they had Seungmin, who was the cleanest out of all of them, they were still nine boys living under one apartment and it can get messy. Sometimes, I would also spend the night there with Changbin which always resulted in a good night’s sleep and today, I hoped for nothing different.
I shot Chan a quick text, letting him know that I would drop by a little later to visit Binnie. He replied after a few minutes with a thumbs-up and a smiley-face emoji. I smiled to myself, while starting to do my chores, not failing to be slightly giddy at the fact that I was finally going to be in his arms after so long.
After I ate my dinner and cleaned up the dishes, I checked my phone again. 10:00pm.
“Perfect. Just on time.” I thought.
I quickly dressed in my flowery and pastel pink pajama set (he always thought I looked cute in these) and gathered some essential items like my toothbrush and moisturizer, and my own plushie; Kirby.
“Not only Changbinnie and I will reunite, but also Gyu and Kirby.” I giggled, while I put on my shoes and hurriedly made my way to the boys’ dorms.
When she reached their place, she grabbed her key, unlocked the door, and quietly went inside. The lights were closed. She looked around their place and everything still looked the same as she last remembered. Chairs weren’t tucked in under the table, they were scattered around the dining room, plates and cups were in the sink, unwashed, and when she looked on the floor, their shoes were littered everywhere; which gave her a clue that they were home.
“They are all probably exhausted and decided to call it an early night.” She presumed.
She took off her shoes, placed them neatly by the door, and she silently, but hurriedly, made her way to Changbin’s room.
She knocked and gingerly opened his door.
“Changbinnie? It’s me, Y/N.”
It was quiet for a moment then she heard him stir and groan a little. (Y/N) took that as a sign that he was acknowledging her presence and she wasted no time in coming over to the side of the bed that he was facing. In the darkness of his room, she gently pulled the covers back and slid herself in between his arms, deciding that she would just talk to him the next day and for now, she’ll just get some sleep.
As she was about to get comfortable, he groaned in annoyance and almost instantly, he pulled his arms back from being wrapped around her and turned to face the other side.
She froze. She felt her face redden from embarrassment.
“Oh. Okay.” was all she could muster. (Y/N) quickly turned to the opposite side, so that their backs were facing each other and she scooched a little bit more to her side to leave a fair amount of space in between them, in her fear of upsetting Changbin more.
She stared blankly at the dark in front of her, trying to process everything. Suddenly, a burst of anger surged through her.
“All I’ve been doing these past weeks is understanding him and his situation. Each decline, each refusal- I had to bear. I said nothing, I didn’t complain even if I so badly wanted to see him. I just wanted to spend some time with him after a stressful exam season. I just wanted to hear his voice and be comforted by his warmth. Am I wrong for wanting just that? Am I asking for too much? Does he still even care about me? Does he still even love me?”
With that last thought in her mind, all the anger she possessed disappeared and instead, a wave of sadness hit. She felt something in her chest begin to feel heavy, then drop to her stomach.
(Y/N) threw the covers off her and walked out of his room and into the living room. She sat on the couch. She felt hot tears slip out of her eyes, then onto her cheeks. Unable and also not wanting to think, she lets the tears cascade down.
“Are we drifting apart? Does he not want to be with me anymore?”
In the midst of wallowing in her own sorrow, she almost didn’t notice the light turn on and a familiar voice speak out.
It was Chan. She felt him walk towards her but didn’t look up at him.
“(Y/N)? Are you alright? What are you doing here? Why aren’t you with Changbin in his room? It’s a little late, why don’t you get some sleep?”
Silence. Silence was all she could give because she was too afraid she’ll end up sobbing and creating a scene.
“(Y/N),” Chan’s firm voice made her hold her breath. “Look at me. Now.”
Stern-Stray-Kids’-leader-Chan made (Y/N) nervous and couldn’t help but look at him. Immediately, strict-leader-Chan went away as he saw her glossy eyes, wet and flushed face, and her trembling lips.
“Oh no, (Y/N). What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Chan took a seat next to her and carefully placed his hand on her knee.
(Y/N) looked down at her lap and her lips stopped trembling and in the softest, fragile whisper-
Chan let out a breath of a laugh and smiled, but his eyes were confused. “You miss him? But he’s in his room! He’s so close-”
“-yet so far.” (Y/N) interrupted, lips trembling again and now looking at Chan. More tears were coming out of her eyes.
“Woah, woah, hey, hey,” Chan took both of his thumbs and delicately wiped the tears off her face. “What do you mean ‘he’s so close, yet so far’? Is everything alright with the two of you?” His voice soft, afraid that with one wrong move, she’ll collapse.
(Y/N) took a deep breath and tried to speak properly but instead her voice came out as a whimper.
“I just want to spend some time with him. After a stressful three weeks because of school, all I want is to be in his arms. All I want is to bask in his scent and hear his voice- but Chan,”
She was shaking slightly and Chan took this time gently caressed her hands, comforting her and urging her to continue.
“Am I wanting too much? Am I being an unsupportive girlfriend? I just- I just miss him so much, Chan. I feel like he’s starting to drift away from me but I don’t- I don’t want him to-”
(Y/N) couldn’t finish her sentence because the amount of pain she was feeling made it too hard for her. Chan didn’t question any further but instead he pulled on her arms and brought her into a hug. She clutched his shirt and was now sobbing.
“I’m scared, Chan. Am I selfish for feeling this way?” (Y/N) sputtered.
“Shh, you’ll be fine (Y/N). Everything will sort themselves out.” Chan comforted. As if on cue, he felt somebody’s presence watching them. He looked up and saw someone standing by the hallway that lead to the bedrooms.
The two boys made eye contact then, just ever so slightly, a tear made its way down Changbin’s face.
So… part two? Hehehe. Maybe in Changbin’s POV? Who knows… >:)
