idk if this will make sense but whenever im trying to visualize something in a lot of detail it's actually easier for me to do it with my eyes open bc if i close my eyes im too easily distracted by the various images flashing through my mind and they start to take on a life of their own. so instead i keep my eyes open and sorta... turn off? the processing part of my vision. i can still SEE obviously, i just zone out hard enough that what im seeing in my head is clearer than what im seeing with my eyes. also sometimes i forget to blink.
