hi!! i love your art and i have a question about your process for your full color drawings. have you ever done/would you ever do a timelapse or a description of how you do it? i love the soft style and i'm so curious how you achieve it :o do you use one layer or multiple?? no pressure but thanks if you answer!!

PTS doesnt have a timelapse feature unfortunately and OBS keeps lagging when i try to record anything so i tried making this step by step progress gif of a recent painting. Anyways im not good at describing but ill try

Basically after i lay out the flat colors, i make an additional layer over the sketch and proceed to roughly block out where i want the shadows to be with a mix of vibrant red/blue (i like the blue as i think it gives more depht to the shading but be careful cause it can also make some colors look muddy).

Then i lower the opacity and After that i start painting over the sketch to clean everything up while colorpicking the shadows i placed.

The brush i like to use (default PTS effect pen) tends to blend a lot with other colors and i like to avoid that so i constantly make a new layer for new brush strokes lol… but i only keep like 2 layers cause it’s easier to manage (i merge everything)

But yeah My rendering process isnt really anything special i just paint over the sketch and kinda improvise the colors depending on what looks good/makes the most sense depending on the lighting and/or atmosphere lol…..

every hopper painting is about stillness. it is found in every brushstroke; at dusk in automat, at dawn in morning sun, at noon in office in a small city, at night in nighthawks.

i have a friend who orbits ideas of power, another who delights in the prosaic and the plain. one weaves around systems and structures, another returns always to wonder at the sea.

there are other elements of course - our lives cannot be measured by single concepts no matter how large they may be - but time and again i think we return to the things that fascinate, the things that intrigue, the things we cannot quite tear ourselves away from. the themes of our lives.
