being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
No matter what a post on tumblr tries to tell you, your moral and ethical stances will never be determined by what you reblog and what you scroll past. Don’t let manipulation tactics force you into doing anything you don’t want to do.
I find it very interesting to note the times in which this post has a sudden resurgence. It often follows very stressful, upsetting events, where a lot of “REBLOG THIS OR YOU SUCK” posts start appearing on this site.
So I’ll say it again: it is okay if you come to tumblr to escape upsetting news. It is okay if you’re just here for fun and fandom. It is okay if you do not want to use your tumblr as a place to read about or spread the current events that are circulating. It is okay if you need a place to decompress and just relax. There are other ways to be involved in/support causes and you are allowed to set boundaries on social media platforms without it being indicative of your belief systems.
Your beliefs, values, ethics, and moral stances are not determined by whether or not you reblog something.
We need like “unclench your jaw” posts but for eye strain. Like
Go look at something 20ft away for 20 seconds.
take off your glasses if you wear them for 20 seconds
Recommended by my optometrist
Look at something 20 feet away, then 10, then 5, then one, then if you can your nose.
Repeat twice, then again without glasses.
Face forward look out of the corner of your eye. As far as you can look. Slowly move to the other corner. Repeat twice.
Look down as far as you can. Slowly look up. Repeat twice.
Roll eyes twice.
Close eyes for five minutes.
I do this every day usually at my halfway point. My migraines went away. My vision go better. Honestly stretching my eyes as she put it feels great too.
According to Know Your Meme, on August 18th, 2005, Erwin Beekveld brought forth this work into the world. HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THEY’RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD.
sheds a single tear
every august 18th my notifications break and i go, fuck, tumblr has failed me once again, but it hasn’t. it hasn’t failed me. it’s just the taking the hobbits to isengard-iversary. happy 12 years
#i hope we all celebrated this international feast day accordingly
I regret to inform everyone that @catchaspark’s reblog was made in 2017 and that Taking the Hobbits to Isengard was actually published 17 years ago, not 12 years ago.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
cool vex'ahlia facts
general:
-regularly talks to and gathers information from relevant npcs
-is constantly on the lookout for traps or enemies whenever the party is traveling, and routinely guides them particularly when they're in her favored terrains
-regularly casts pass without a trace on the party to make stealth challenges trivial
-makes sure that the staff at greyskull keep are well-paid and frequently gives them bonuses and raises (to the point that even jarrett once told her that her generosity was respected but unnecessary)
specific:
-buys everyone winter clothes to keep them warm in vasselheim
-makes a shot to get them out of a trap in vasselheim with a roll of 35
-keeps the group grounded and balanced in whitestone, keeping them from going to either keyleth's noble or scanlan's violent extreme
-goes out of her way to research the raven queen to help vax feel better when she's the one who died
-comes up with the trench trap that takes out members of the goliath herd so the rest of the party can get into westruun
-releases grog from the raven's slumber necklace at just the right moment for him to deliver the killing blow against kevdak, saving all of their lives, and rolls a NAT TWENTY to intimidate the herd into bending the knee
-gives up 500 gold for a resurrection ritual for a child who was killed as collateral damage
-works out strategies with zanror for how to fight umbrasyl
-does almost 100 points of damage by herself on the first attack round against umbrasyl
-firmly says that most of umbrasyl’s hoard should go to the people of westruun and actively prevents grog and scanlan from taking more
-tells amelia about reginald's death and supports grog's gift of 400 gold to her
-comes up with a plan to get them across the gilded run to get to the shademurk bog
-gives pike and scanlan the broom so they won't get stuck in the boggy terrain
-leads negotiations with tooma and the other dragonborn to form an alliance against vorugal, and graciously apologizes when it turns out VM made a grievous and insulting mistake
-suggests pitting yenk the goristro against vorugal so they can more effectively take out a dragon and get a vestige in one fell swoop
-lands the killing blow on vorugal
-ensures that they don’t take too much from vorugal's hoard and asks tooma for permission first
-spends 15,000 gold to free two aasimar boys from slavery in the city of brass
-does almost 100 points of damage by herself in one round again, this time against thordak
-destroys thordak's soul gem, reducing his power significantly
-puts her mind and soul at risk to learn more information about opash and what raishan was trying to do on the island
-picks a lock in a goddess's library that was meant to be nearly impossible
-gives scanlan vital aid in his challenge with ioun
-indignantly stands up for scanlan against a dockmaster's prejudice
-persuades a man out of kowtowing to vecna
-comes up with a plan to get inside the earth titan's body even though she's scared half to death of what's to come
-lands the killing blow on anna ripley, delilah briarwood, and sylas briarwood, effectively completing the list that percy could not
-only worships gods with big dicks
i'll have to amend that one name, though, just to be fair. it's lady vex'ahlia, baroness of the first house of whitestone, grand mistress of the grey hunt, coinmistress of the council of tal'dorei, and leader of vox machina
some further additions:
-knows 5 languages, not even including thieves' cant
-shot a nearly impossible shot (distance, curved angle) to use an oracle arrow to see through the spinning orb of death
-raised a bear. A BEAR. and gave that bear a PUBLIC PARK
-killed an entire grey render with only her own strength and her bear's, and tried to offer that render mercy first
-saw through scanlan's illusions as the meat man
-is a small business owner (slayer's cake for the win)
-gives up her own jewelry without hesitation to help resurrect a stranger instead of using her city's treasury
-leads what is basically a special ops force that also protects the wilderness from civilization's expansion
-helped to strengthen and bolster whitestone to the point of being recognized by the country once more
-works on the tal'dorei council as master of commerce, and had people "clamoring" for her to be elected to his position
-is heavily opposed to the council's stalling of discussions around the outer walls that separate the slums from the rest of the city
-works to fight crime in whitestone by focusing on solutions to poverty and suffering, and through rehabilitation instead of punishment
-learns forgiveness in a world that has been endlessly shitty to her, forgiving some of the people who were the worst to her, and inspires forgiveness in other people
she is a leader for vox machina, a leader for her city, a leader for her entire continent. for the whole of exandria, she is a leader for equality, a leader for growth, and a leader for change.
translation from turkish the guy: are you hungry? are you really hungry? didn’t they feed you in the street? you poor thing. let me give you something then. come. come. do you like spleen? it’s hematinic. (this sentence wasn’t the exact translation but it’s the best i can come up with) like this look. let me give you some spleen. this much. is this enough? get it.
this is so cute. I love the butcher chatting away and the cat responding, him pulling out a package of meat and showing it, just like he’s dealing with any customer.
one of those posts that makes me happy every time I see it
I will be 70 years old and I still will never have gotten over the time the Mythbusters used a rocket powered steel wall to - and I use this word as literally as possible - vaporize an entire car into red mist
https://youtu.be/Nl8xTqTUGCY
If you haven’t seen this episode of Mythbusters I feel so bad for you because “What car?” remains to this day as a defining moment of my adolescence and my entire life
That was a near-religious experience
I made a gif of it for those of you who cant watch the video in your country. Or if you know you just want to stare at it mesmerized like me
Updated link to video:
I’ve been skimming John Francis Daley’s (director on D&D: Honor Among Thieves) twitter and I continue to be so completely blown away by the movie’s commitment to practical effects and/or minimized CGI where feasible. I mean holy shit look at all this
Practical effects mean that the creators were largely unionized.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
what's it like being ace? is it hard cause the world and media is so sex obsessed?
I think like most things (for me anyway) it's hardest before you have a word for it. before you know it's a thing.
I watch my nephew making sense of the world and so much of it is about naming things. naming what it is that he wants, how it is that he wants things to be. when he cries in frustration it's usually not actually because he can't have something he wants. it's because he can't make you understand what he wants. or how important it is. you become this looming uncomprehending/incomprehensible force that's not on his side and so much bigger and it's just unbearable
but if you can name how he's feeling. if you can say "I know, buddy. I know you really really want to be the one to plug the vacuum cleaner in yourself, and I know you know how. but the outlet can be very dangerous and it's more dangerous for you than for auntie mac. not because you're not as good as plugging it in but because your body is so much smaller and things that would only hurt a grownup a little bit can hurt you a lot. so just like you need to let a grownup pick you up and carry you sometimes, you have to let a grownup do a dangerous thing for you sometimes. just for now, while you're so little."
he listens! and he doesn't like it but he gets it. he stops crying and lunging for the outlet. he chills out
and that's the relief of having a word, a term, a description for what's going on. you don't have to be a baby for it to be an absolutely cataclysmic relief when someone says "is this by any chance how you're feeling?" and they're RIGHT
and they're like "understandable! it's called This and it's a Thing! we have a flag!"
I've always been irritated by how the hans christian anderson story about the ugly duckling gets referenced like it's a story about being ugly when you're a child and then turning pretty when you grow up. that's not what that story is about. the story is about feeling ugly and weird because you're not like everybody else and you don't understand why. and when you grow up you realize you weren't ever actually ugly, or defective. you were just something else. a different kind of bird. that you didn't know was a thing. you aren't a weird gross duck. you're a perfectly normal, actually kind of beautiful, swan. you want to meet some other swans? we have a flag.
Asexual/Aromantic valentines. These are officially the best valentines.
GOD BLESS
I NEVER SEE THIS KIND OF STUFF ON MY DASH
