Tyrion/Tysha
Was just a big tragedy all around. It’s obvious that experience scarred Tyrion forever, and understandably so. But IDK, Tysha is so much of just a CONCEPT to us that I have a hard time really caring about this ship because we don’t know her. I do think it’s sad that Tyrion really had someone who loved him for himself, and then thought it was all a lie. Even if they had been separated, if Tyrion had at least known that what he felt, what he thought she felt, was REAL, I think that would have gone a long way towards him having a healthier relationship with women.
IF YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I’M GONNA LISTEN TO YOU EXPLAINING TO ME ALL THE DIFFERENT REGIONAL ACCENTS/DIALECTS OF YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE AND SHOWING ME THE EXACT LINGUISTIC DIFFERENCES TO RELATED LANGUAGES then you are absolutely right make yourself comfortable i’ll just bring the popcorn and then we can proceed
Parallels between Tysha & Sansa (through Tyrion’s eyes) - inspired by missmaplesleaves's request
I'm scared now too. Do you think it will be a creepy one on one scene? I'm worried about that.
I’m really worried what the “super, super traumatic scene” means, because Sophie enjoyed her previous traumatic scene back in s2, and she says that this was…”horrible to watch for everyone to be on set”…? it either includes LF or I’ll eat my hat someone else hurting her and I’m not ready for that :(
I just hope that they don't make Tyrion hurt her in some way because that would be so wtf? that my head might explode/
So, I came to this question through reading alliecat-person's posts, but anyone can answer.
Rachel is related to Jake through their fathers being brothers. Assuming that their Jewish heritage comes through their fathers and that their mothers aren’t Jewish (both couples…
There’s a huge amount of cross over between Christian and Jewish names, though, and many people don’t think of religious tradition or meaning when choosing names (case in point: I know a son of hardcore atheists named Christopher).
Jews do think of religious traditions when naming kids though. Generally we have names which are passed down in the memory of dead relatives (it’s sometimes convoluted if non-Jewish names are involved…I’m Zoe named after my grandfather Chaim because both names mean ‘life’). It makes for a lack of originality in a lot of cases (see: Berensons, particularly Rachel’s side).
That concentration of Jewish names over two generations is suspicious as hell, my family doesn’t have that many obviously Jewish names so close.
Is Jordan a common female Jewish name? Sarah and Rachel are obviously are (but are also common non-Jewish names), but I can't find any reference to Jordan being a common Hebrew/Jewish name--Google seems to think it's more commonly Christian, due to Jesus being baptized in the River Jordan and thus the heavy Christian significance of that.
I kind of see Jake's family as being more culturally Jewish or even being High Holy Days observant, whereas I see Naomi as wanting to raise her kids almost entirely mainstream and secular. Otoh, Jake's reference to his father as Jewish specifically leads me to believe that his mother is not. Even if his identification is loose, he does seem to identify as Jewish to some cultural degree at least, so that was likely part of his upbringing in the same loose way Marco identifies as Latino/the son of an immigrant (granted, this might have been stronger had it not been for Eva's infestation and "death"). As for the reference to his family praying before meals in #8, I tend to take that as a KASU, as it's really the only mention of any sort of regular religious practice (well, human religion anyway) that we get in the series.

We also know from the book where Grandpa G dies that Jake and Rachel are related through their fathers--Rachel says that Grandpa G is Jean's (Jake's mom) grandfather and therefore not really her relative.
Sansa/Tyrion moments [21/?]
'Here's my vote: We go home and watch TV. Fifty channels, there's gotta be something on.' Jake shook his head. ‘I don’t think so. The Drode said there was only one channel in that reality.’ 'One?' Marco asked, sounding shaken. 'One.' 'Well, then Visser Four is my meat.' 'Unanimous,' Jake said, smiling in amusement at Marco. Marco turned away from Jake. The grin disappeared. He looked like he wanted to cry. Our eyes met again. And not for the first time I realized how smart Marco is underneath all the jokes. He knew we were going to do it. He knew his best friend’s life might be the price we paid. He also knew we couldn’t go into this hopeless battle thinking about nothing but that single, terrible fact. I leaned close to Marco, so that only he could hear, and took his hand in mine. ‘Crayak is not going to have him.’ Marco nodded. He squeezed my hand. ‘You got that right.’
Megamorphs #3: Elfangor’s Secret, pg. 26 (by K.A. Applegate)
Marco's ruthlessness is a really interesting trait to me because he's not really a hypocrite about it... his mom may die, his best friend may die, but he's still willing, reluctantly, to do that if it means winning the war... only the thought of doing so also kills him because he loves them. But he knows that they also have to win.
did she get a haircut
does it make anyone else uncomfortable that they changed her entire race because she went out with Ron in their sixth year
isn’t that what happened???
they changed a character’s entire race because she as a character became important and relevant for a short amount of time
Wow.
Umm, no. They did not change her entire race simply because she dated Ron. Actually think about it. Up until the sixth book, she was a background character that was only ever mentioned in passing, so she wasn’t given a physical description. Then in the sixth book, Lavender was finally described, as having ‘pale skin and dirty blonde hair’. Well, the first few Harry Potter movies came out before the Half-Blood Prince book did, so the casting directors did what they wanted with the character.
Another thing, the Lavender Brown from the first few movies only appeared in the first few movies. Lavender didn’t even appear in the 4th and 5th movies, because again, she was a background character, and wasn’t vital to the story. The only reason her race was changed was because a physical description was finally in the books, and it didn’t fit what the directors had, so they had to recast her. It was not because she dated Ron.
Somebody spread this shit because I refuse to have this turn into some social justice bullshit
It’s also important to note that her written/canon physicality was very important…
Look at her, note the characteristics… who does she look most like? Hermione Firebolting Granger, that’s who. Lavender Brown is basically a Hermione look-alike who is utterly obsessed an besotted by Ron, which he initially thinks he wants… but then begins to realise that no, it isn’t, because no one can replace Hermione for him.
The reason he adores and loves Hermione is because she is who she is, and would never act like Lavender. Sort of a ‘careful what you wish for’ scenario.
I believe the world can be made into a happier, and much brighter place, through the thorough application of nature’s toolbox… c h e m i s t r y!
