All of my major Danny Phantom AUs have a central driving theme. Girl Out of Time's is fate.

I've always found Danny Phantom's contradictory takes on the concept of fate (especially when using time travel as the means of exploration) to be pretty interesting, due to how clearly it illuminates the very black and white, one sided handling of the show's two titular halfas. Within the confines of a single season you have The Ultimate Enemy, a story entirely about second chances and undoing mistakes and changing terrible fates to create a better future. Following it, you have Masters of All Time, which took a similar premise but firmly said "fate cannot be changed or altered and if you try to, you'll only make your circumstances worse." The idea that one character can be allowed to rewrite his future but the other is doomed no matter what is intriguing in how blatantly unfair it is.

Neither Danielle nor Vlad were ever afforded the grace shown to Danny in The Ultimate Enemy. So in Girl Out of Time, I've plucked them out of their canon shackles (Vlad, who must always be inherently evil no matter the timeline, and Danielle, who exists only to be an irrelevant, imperiled victim for Danny to save) and placed them on the same journey with the same question. Can these two forsaken kindred spirits change their fates?
