Saw this twitter screenshot floating around facebook, and itâs amazing how not one single word of this is even the slightest bit relevant to whether or not a fetus is a human life (itâs not true, either; conservatives donate MORE to charities that service all of those groups).
I just think itâs fun to note how this wonderful twitter warrior doesnât put any effort at all into even considering whether or not a fetus is a human life worth valuing. She canât, because it obviously is, and that would be a losing argument for her.Â
Itâs because how human the fetus is doesnât matter. We all know the fetus is human and alive. But the first example holds extremely true. You guys donât consider the life of the pregnant person who youâre advocating to go through torture. And even with the small percent of conservatives who donate to those charities, there are millions of people in need and conservatives are the ones who vote against helping them.
So no, understanding that the fetus is a human life isnât a losing argument for the pro choice side. Because we also understand that sperm and ovum are human lives as well and if anti choicers admitted that, then it would be a losing argument for you guys đ€·đ»ââïž
. So you agree with me that a fetus is a human life, but you just have no problem killing it for the sake of convenience. Cool. Nice to know what kind of person Iâm talking to here. We will not agree that âsperm and ovum are human lives,â because those arenât remotely the same thing as a fetus. Gametes (i.e., the aforementioned sperm and ovum) arenât genetically distinct from the body theyâre in; they are simply specialized cells. A fetus is genetically distinct from the motherâs body. Or, put another way, gametes are components of a human body; a fetus is a human body.
Also, âsmall percent of conservatives who donateâ:Â
If you think conservatives âdonât care about the poor,â itâs because you canât imagine someone giving their own money to help the poor without being forced to by the government.Â
Also: childbirth and torture arenât the same thing (nobody every volunteers for more torture, but women will often choose to have several children), there are multiple conservative-run nonprofits devoted exclusively to maternal healthcare as an alternative to abortion, as well as multiple conservative adoption/foster care agencies.Â
So, bottom line? The tweet is entirely false, but that doesnât matter because pro-life people are those who believe that a fetus is a human life and (unlike certain monstrous people I could name) believe that that means they donât have a right to kill them.
