it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen

#i do feel this happens in large part because fans Fucking Love Actors and Fucking Hate Writers #which nobody talks about i think? for some reason??#all actors until proven otherwise are perfect and innocent angels who have done their jobs flawlessly and often other people’s jobs too #and all writers (mostly and especially tv writers) are hack idiots who have stumbled their way into a coherent. creative #insane phenomenon. makes me angry when i think too much about it #really my pitch here is more writers treated like celebrities. because they should be #i don’t care about the guy who played the character sorry #give me the person who wrote the character! you know! the person who CREATED THEM? THAT PERSON?

Also I don't care if a fic is 10 years old. Leave those comments!! Even if you think the author isn't active, or moved on from the fandom, I promise you it will make them smile.
