Being haunted by Darth Vader? Okay. But what about Darth Vader who is being haunted
Not that anybody asked, but I think it's important to understand how shame and guilt actually work before you try to use it for good.
It's a necessary emotion. There are reasons we have it. It makes everything so. much. worse. when you use it wrong.
Shame and guilt are DE-motivators. They are meant to stop behavior, not promote it. You cannot, ever, in any meaningful way, guilt someone into doing good. You can only shame them into not doing bad.
Let's say you're a parent and your kid is having issues.
Swearing in class? Shame could work. You want them to stop it. Keep it in proportion*, and it might help. *(KEEP IT IN PROPORTION!!!)
Not doing their homework? NO! STOP! NO NOT DO THAT! EVER! EVER! EVER! You want them to start to do their homework. Shaming them will have to opposite effect! You have demotivated them! They will double down on NOT doing it. Not because they are being oppositional, but because that's what shame does!
You can't guilt people into building better habits, being more successful, or getting more involved. That requires encouragement. You need to motivate for that stuff!
If you want it in a simple phrase:
You can shame someone out of being a bad person, but you can't shame them into being a good person.
Fun fact, that was literally what inspired me to make this post!
Ok minor detail but ...
So I noticed in A:TLA, and it’s carried over in LoK, that Airbenders always seem to have an advantage in a fight. And at first, it felt like plot armour, particularly in A:TLA.
But when Aang fought Bumi, he lost most of that advantage. And I realised that this wasn’t just plot armour. Someone had sat and worked it out: nobody has had to fight Airbenders for generations.
None of the other nations have had to train to face them, or practised sparring with them, or anything. Apart from Bumi, no bender in the show has ever even met an airbender before Aang comes along. And in LoK, for the most part people still haven’t. We never see fights between those who have (for e.g. we never see Tenzin and Lin fight); when Korra and Tenzin use airbending, its a unique fighting style that people aren’t trained to manage.
It’s a really small detail, and it fundamentally works to give the heroes an advantage (and make up for Aang’s young age and lack of combat experience), but I love how it’s an advantage in combat for completely logical reasons.
The detail in these shows is amazing.
You can see the same principle in play whenever somebody fights somebody who uses a completely unfamiliar style. Combustion benders and lavabenders aren’t straight up more powerful, but they’re pretty much always something you haven’t dealt with which presents unique challenges. That red lotus lady with no arms is just a perfectly ordinary waterbender, but using forms and styles nobody else has seen before. Jet routinely smacks around benders and soldiers, but loses hard to the first person he met who had actually studied diverse styles of swordplay. When Toph invents metalbending, nobody can deal with that, but seventy years later the counters are pretty well known among people who might have to fight the cops.
And it’s why Azula, a genius prodigy who has thought long and hard about how to counter every kind of magic and martial arts out there, keeps getting messed up by a kid with a boomerang.
it’s also a detail from the second ever episode
aang straight up says to the fire nation guards on zuko’s ship “you’ve probably never fought an airbender before”, because he in-universe figures out that, if what everyone around him is saying is true, and airbenders have been extinct for a century (or at least have gone to ground enough to make people think that) then he is a totally unknown figure in anyone’s calculations
this has been brought up before but it’s also one of the reasons why hama is so thrown in her fight with katara - waterbending is about energy exchange, keeping things flowing, throwing your opponent’s power back at them and we see katara and hama do this in their fight. however, when katara is faced with a powerful blast from hama, she stands her ground and blows it apart:
[image ID: a gif of katara in the puppetmaster. she is a teenage girl with dark skin and hair and blue eyes, wearing a red outfit. she turns and throws her hand out, stopping a blast of water and turning it into a huge shield. the background is a dark forest. end image ID]
why do i bring this up?
because it’s a move - and a mindset - influenced by earthbending, which hama has never faced (she went from the south pole, to prison, to the fire nation). it’s an indication not only of katara’s skill and power, but also how she’s learned from her travels, and from toph
one of my favorite details of atla is how the main characters’ fighting styles adapt as they take on new enemies and make new friends with other bending styles. iroh straight up tells zuko about how he developed a technique for redirecting lightning by studying waterbenders, but if you watch closely especially in the last season, there’s a lot of this sort of thing happening unspoken with the gaang, using the bending forms of other elements like katara does above. it really shows the strength in differences and diversity coming up against a fascist regime that wants everyone to conform.
Look at Korra metal bending here
It’s completely different than anything we’ve seen from other metal benders, who bend metal with sharp movements like the derivative of earth bending that it is
But Korra is fluid. She is bending metal like it’s water. Because she is a water bender. And she is the first person in history to be able to bend both metal and water and so she is able to combine these styles into one and move seamlessly between them. This shows so beautifully how the Avatar is the embodiment of all bending
Every time I think this show has shown me all it can….it gives me more.
The fight between Tenzin and the Red Lotus reinforces this. Zaheer is pretty skilled for someone who’s only been Airbending for a few months, and he has the advantage against a lot of people because there still aren’t really enough airbenders for people to know how to fight them. But against an Airbending MASTER like Tenzin? He only wins because he has backup
I just wanna say that this mirrors something I got to watch in real life. I fenced as a teenager, with my wife, who continued fencing in college.
But her college had fencing equipment but no team, so she started coaching them. But she fenced lefthanded. She ended up with a team of fencers who almost ALL learned to fence lefthanded.
A small % of fencers are lefthanded, so even very good fencers are often NOT USED TO fencing lefties.
So her dinky little team of mostly newbies came in and fucked severely with teams of much more experienced fencers who couldn’t cope with fencing leftie after leftie. Her one protégé who was also very tall just laid waste to nationally rated fencers.
Whereas I, a very shitty fencer, can hold my own against my wife no problem, because I’ve fenced her from the start.
This isn’t JUST a fun plot point and a lovely way of showing social influences and planning and creativity, it’s completely based in real life. Even a shitty fighter can be a problem for a good fighter whose never encountered their style before.
I’ve been saying for years now that Zuko took the Avatar’s journey same as Aang did, but always one step behind. In season 1 he learns airbending techniques from fighting Aang - namely, staying at his opponent’s back, like he learned in their first fight - to the point where he uses them against Zhao during the Siege of the North. In season 2, he learns waterbending forms from Iroh to redirect lightning, and mimics Katara’s moves in the finale. In season 3, his focus is a lot more on wide stances, and he uses a lot of deflecting moves, like an earth bender. It’s only when he joins the avatar and they learn firebending together from a master that he finally catches up to the boy he’s been chasing all this time.
The “gift” of ADHD (part 1)
so necklace theory huh
For all the people in the tags asking "what is the necklace theory?" Allow me to illuminate the basics (cause like most things in KH its a rabbit hole that goes waaaay deeper than youd think)
So for the unintiated the character in this meme is Namine. A character who plays a very key role in the second ever KH game, Chain of Memories.
Without getting too deep into her origins, Namine has the ability to alter peoples Memories. This is a major plot point in CoM where, as a prisoner of Organization XIII, She's forced to alter Sora's memories as part of Marluxia's scheme to make Sora his puppet to overthrow the Org leaders. She's also made to put an altered copy of Riku's memories into Repliku, a clone of Riku.
In both cases, the main thing she alters, aside from inserting herself generally into their memories as an old friend, is a very specific memory.
In the Memory the kiddos are watching a meteor Shower on Destiny island. Lil Namine is scared a shooting star will hit the island, and then the boys, either Sora or Riku/Repliku in their respective heads, promise to always protect her, and Namine gives them a paopu fruit shaped charm as a symbol of the promise.
In the story of Chain of Memories, this altered memory is used to keep both Sora and Repliku obsessed with saving Namine so they play into Marluxia's plans. And to the average player youd probably just cone away thinking it was a false memory Namine made up.
Except when all is said and done Namine explains how her powers work and that She CANT create New Memories Wholesale. Only alter and rearrange existing ones.
So, the theory begins, because this means that both Sora and Riku have a Memory of that Meteor shower, where somebody was scared, someone promised to protect the scared person, and someone was given some sort of good luck charm as a symbol of that promise. Its a memory they both have. And it cant involve Kairi because, fun fact, the meteor shower they were watching happened the night Kairi arrived on Destiny Island, before they met her.
See where this is going?
So the theory goes that in the original unaltered memory, Sora was the one who was scared of Shooting stars hitting the island. Riku was the one who promised to protect Sora no matter what, and then He gave Sora a "Lucky charm" to symbolize that promise. The Charm? SORAS CROWN NECKLACE.
Thats the basics.
Theres a lot of supporting evidence for the theory that people with far more time than me have complied elsewhere. The bit i remember off the top of my head is that Oblivion, the keyblade symbolizing Sora's memories of Riku, has a black crown that matches his necklace as its keychain (paralelling the wayfinder charm on Oathkeeper) and its original name in japanese is something like "forgotten memories"
Like i said theres a lot more evidemce out there complied by people much more eloquent than I.
But yeah thats the very basics of the necklace theory.

Volume 2 Opening
The opening was made by the two of us with some compositing assistance from Shane. Inspirations were drawn from Naruto Shippuuden's 8th Opening and the Lightning Returns: FFXIII Special Effects Trailer. I don't recall for how long we worked at it, but the time stamps sure paint some kind of picture.
The link you attached with Monty dressing up for Halloween. Was that a maybe? No definitive answer? I like how you said you wouldn't speak for anyone. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Maybe he had thoughts of Ruby and Weiss since he looks to be wearing the alternative dress Weiss wore for V2.
These are just maybes at the end of the day. Doesn't stop the fact Monty looked great in that dress, hahaha.
Again, I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth. Some things are more exciting when they're left open to interpretation.
Regarding any controversy surrounding LGBTQ+ subjects, it was very important to Monty that there be appropriate representation for all kinds of people who were interacting with his work. Paraphrasing, "There are young kids watching right now, but in 3 years, 5 years, 10 years they'll be older. It's important for the themes and conflicts in the show to grow up with them."
It didn't make it into the published story, but he had started planning to disrupt fan-driven heterosexual couplings with homosexual love triangles. He felt it was important to highlight that, in a world where everyone is presumed to be straight, we often project those expectations on people who do not necessarily align with that assumption, closeted or otherwise. He went so far as to consult the involved VAs to make sure they were comfortable portraying a gay character after running the scenario by them.
There’s so much that could be said.
I have written, deleted, rewritten and trashed so many attempts. Every time I think I’m done I question the purpose behind what I’ve composed, and hate it even more.
I’ve felt defined by things and people who should not have any control over me. I have spent years feeling like there were boots on my throat, a silent threat in case I try to find my voice.
I used to wonder what I had ever done to deserve this treatment, why I had been chased out, threatened and abandoned. I’ve lost so much of who I used to be, so why in the world was the retaliation so aggressive on top of that?
For years, I tried to put myself in each and every one of these shoes; the ones who threatened me, the ones who abandoned me, the ones who tried to steal. And I tried so, so hard to understand why they were wielding such cruelty. I’d made sure not to do anything to set anyone off. I was already too self-conscious, self-analyzing every interaction for what I could do better, if there was a way to stop the harassment. So what could the reason be?
I gave grace to those undeserving. I gave empathy to those who kicked me when I was down. I gave patience to those who were trying to manipulate me. But I cannot forget the first time I saw one of them actually—and literally—turn tail and run away from me.
Me, the tiny woman who gets shoved around and stepped on regularly because she doesn’t deserve respect. The stupid little cosplayer who doesn’t do anything other than look pretty for pictures. The woman everyone chalks up to being just a hysterical widow because it’s an easy way to silence her.
That’s who they ran from.
So I thought about that. I thought about that a lot. Perhaps the internal narrative was worse than I originally understood. I stopped receiving replies, becoming more and more isolated and alone. Maybe people really did believe I was a monster, as the guy who turned red in the face would remind them all if someone dared to speak my name. Why should my name garner such a passionate, albeit hateful, response? Just my name?
Now, I like to think, every day when I wake up, that I am holding a fusion bomb on my tongue, and they don’t know when or if it will ever drop. There’s a new excitement in embracing this view of thinking, of taking back control over the story of my life. I’m tired of other people putting words in my mouth, or of the departed’s.
More often than not, accusations that are tossed around easily tend to be a flimsy projection by the person throwing them. It was not me who was trying to take control. It was not me tanking team morale. It was not me self-inserting characters.
But it’s so easy to shift the blame and redirect the attention, the scrutiny and suspicion in the wake of tragedy, isn’t it?
It’s such a simple thing to reshape a broken woman into your scapegoat, so how could you resist?
All of this to say, no; I’m not gonna just spill everything. I want to continue holding on to the rope for the guillotine, because they deserve to eat the anxiety that comes with anticipation for every meal. I did not spend the last ten years protecting my work in silence from greedy and grubby hands just to give away pieces of myself to satisfy some childish online disputes.
Of course I know the untold story; who do you think was helping to write it? It was not mine to tell, but along the journey I took to protect it, a tale of my own has unfolded. It’s all intertwined, I just need more time.
Thanks for reading.

the fact that we made it through the Cold War is nothing short of a miracle. I wish we talked about Mutual Assured Destruction more in schools
William Gibson once suggested that the days on which we almost destroyed the world with nuclear weapons should be recognized as international holidays, to raise awareness of how very precarious the situation has been at times.
If you would like to observe such a holiday, October 27th should be Vasili Arkhipov Day. During the Cuban missile crisis he was first officer on Soviet submarine B-59 off the coast of Cuba. When the destroyer USS Beale began to drop depth charges to force them to the surface, his captain decided that WW III must have started, and ordered his men to arm and fire a nuclear torpedo at a group of American ships. Due to a strange circumstance, the captain had to seek Arkhipov’s approval to fire the weapon, because while he was only second in command of the sub, he was in command of the flotilla of which the submarine was a part. Arkhipov, outnumbered three to one, steadfastly refused to give his approval.
Important context: Arkhipov had previously been involved with a nuclear incident aboard another sub, and cited the things he witnessed happening to the crew as one of the reasons he refused to give approval.
Happy Vasili Arkhipov day
While I’ve only played the demo to Digimon Time Stranger, I do think Ruby would make a great Digimon Tamer.
I think it depends on why she was thrown out into the digital world or why she ended up with a digimon. Like, if its a time stranger situation, I do think she'd work wonderfully with it just because it'd act just like a videogame for her. But if we're talking like Adventure 2 or the original series... I do think she'd freak out a little bit and struggle with it.
I was thinking in the context of Time Stranger, or Cyber Sleuth.
I like to think Kid Cosmic and Wander Over Yonder happen in the same universe :)
I watched Wander Over Yonder for the first time recently and it got me good, super fun cartoon that I highly recommend 👏
FUN FACT THE SAME BIKERS IN WOY ALSO SHOW UP IN KID COSMIC! If that’s not proof they take place in the same universe idk what does! It makes me very happy to see this! I’ve been wanting this for ages in my head!

Probably for MCs games unpacking
This post mainly shares two games: Motorcity: Drive, Motorcity: Battle for Detroit
Maybe the swf or unity3d files I got are not comprehensive, but most of the content is in it. Contains images, audio, textures, 3d files, fonts
(I must have encountered some problem. There is no difference between Battle for Detroit in my web page, swf preview and swf exported images in the connected game. Other people playing the game don't have the graphics display error)
↑ I tried to put the obj 3D files into blender software to view it, and the file can be opened and used without any problems
Yes, I also have some unpacked files from the Disney Super Speedway game
This URL inherits the archive file played in the flashpoint program downloaded on my computer. It seems that you need to complete the game archive to obtain more game files
The supplement of Disney Super Speedway-Mike is in the drive, I will not share the content of other ip. Because last week I was looking for rc9gn's game unpack. After playing rc9gn for several years, I finally knew how to download something lol I might post a separate post to put rc9gn's content
I remember this "but" was some kind of meme?
