when i threw these filters on for veilguard btw, i made sure to filter for f/f fics & check the relationships tab to see which pairing had the most works. surprise! it's not bellara/neve. it's still rook/lucanis.
if we change our criteria to look at fics tagged solely with the f/f tag (by filtering out m/m m/f, multi, other) these percentages immediately drop even further. down to 3.1% for dragon age: origins, 3% for dragon age 2, 3.6% for dragon age: inquistion and 0.8% for dragon age: the veilguard.
actually they don’t really even need to share screentime. if 2 women simply exist in the same piece of media they have to fuck nasty about it forever. such is the law. unfortunate for you if you don’t like it, but this is not a democracy. the dictatorship of yuri enjoyers prevails.
Dragon Age Fandom Survey: Veilguard Edition RESULTS
Before getting into the responses of this survey, I would like to remind/clarify everyone of a few things:
There is naturally bias from the reach this survey had; while I encouraged people to share it outside of Tumblr, we must remember that the vast majority of the responses are still from Tumblr users specifically. Meaning, this survey cannot account for the DA fandom as a whole across the entire internet.
There was a very drastic difference in the number of responses from people who played a different Dragon Age game before DATV, and those who played DATV first. This means there is a sample size bias. I anticipated this, and it’s why I did separate questions in hopes to compensate at least a little, but it’s something to still keep in mind.

Anyone who I caught misgendering Taash and/or misgendering Weekes the writer in the comments was immediately disqualified.

PREVIOUS DRAGON AGE GAME EXPERIENCE
Only 2% of respondents have never played any other Dragon Age game besides Dragon Age: The Veilguard (DATV). 92% of respondents have played all three past games. 97% have at least played Dragon Age: Inquisition (DAI).

Yes, those things both came up as things people enjoyed and things people did not enjoy.

Because Tevinter Nights (TN) established a lot leading up to DATV, I was very curious to see if that had any impact on DATV perceptions specifically. My one regret here is that I forgot to include Aelia in the list of characters who first appear in TN. Whoops.

I do think one of the things that made me saddest about Veilguard was the sheer lack of continuity. And I'm not even talking about worldstates.
Where are the Varterral? Why is Arlathan forest guarded by magical robots instead?
Where are the merchant princes of Antiva? You know, the people who really run Antiva? Not the king, not the Crows?
Why does the Lighthouse exist? Wasn't it implied in the last game that Skyhold was Solas’s fortress? The place where the sky is held back?
Why was Emmrich never a member of a Circle? Why have we forgotten that Nevarra had Circles (although presumably those who managed to become Mortalitasi had much greater freedom than mages elsewhere, they would presumably also all be Harrowed mages from the Circles in Nevarra originally)? Why have we forgotten that Cumberland was home to the College of Enchanters?
Where is the Felicisima Armada? That Isabela was part of? Why does the timeline of Taash's storyline and their mother's work with the Lords clash completely with the Kirkwall timeline?
What do you mean, the Titans are done? Then what was going on with the Titan in the Descent? The one that woke up and started moving around and got soothed by reconnecting itself with Valta? It seems like that Titan was very much alive and well, where are the others? Given that lyrium is alive and the Titan's blood, I can only assume that anyplace where you have actively growing lyrium, you have a living Titan? Why can't the dwarves reconnect with them?
A lot of these are little things...but they all add up. This, combined with the fact that quite a lot of the characters don't seem particularly integrated into the world of Thedas either...
