Dr. Sathya is a veterinarian in the Government of Tamil Nadu, India. She is a dedicated, hard-working and sincere worker. She has even won best worker award from the Collector of Tiruchendur district. Her husband Dr. S. Sasikumar is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Theni, TN, India.
Last week, she was diagnosed with Cryptococcal meningeal infection after suffering a severe migraine for two weeks. She was 7 months pregnant. Once the diagnosis was made, the baby was delivered pre-term through caesarean under general anaesthesia. The baby is doing fine and is monitored in NICU.
Dr. Sathya is in ICU for the past one week. Anti-fungal treatment has been started. However, she is kept in ventilator in a sedated state. She needs a minimum of 2 weeks of anti-fungal treatment. Her platelets have come down.
She is being treated at KMCH, Coimbatore.
The everyday medical expense reaches upto 1.5 lakhs. The total cost for saving both the lives may come up to Rs. 30 lakhs. Both Dr. Sathya and Dr. Sasikumar stem from a poor financial background and they won’t be able to afford this enormous amount.
The veterinarians of TN have helped us raise a fare amount of funds. However, looking at the slower progress in Dr. Sathya’s health, she will be needing medical monitoring for a MINIMUM of one month. This will need more money.
