@totoro-totori Title: Pornography and Sexual Violence Research Results Publication: Morality In Media Author: Mary Anne Layden, Ph.D. Date:
I’ve said this before but why it it always “queer and trans”? Why does trans get to be named specifically but lesbian, gay, and bisexual have to be lumped under a slur that calls us weird? It can’t be for simplicity’s sake, nobody’s ever cared about that when creating alphabet soup acronyms, 70+ gender identities, the ace/aro spectrum, etc. So why is it that trans gets special recognition and the dignity of being called by name, but LGBs are denied that recognition and dignity and referred to as “queer”?
LGB people don’t need others to “affirm” our sexuality. We don’t need anyone to participate in our own understanding of ourselves. We don’t need surgeries, drugs, and other medical interventions to become our true selves. Quite the opposite: governments have used medical interventions to punish us for being our true selves. We don’t require that language be changed for us, other than simply expanding the definition of marriage—a legal definition—to include same sex relationships. We don’t try to convince ourselves and others that we’re anything other than how we were born. We don’t demand that taxpayers pay for anything related to our sexuality. This is all just off the top of my head…but there are so many differences between us and our goals, and the trans community and their goals.

I’m going to say something that might sound crazy. Suicide and suicide attempts are sort of a societal alarm bell that says “something is very wrong with the environment this individual was in.” A living being choosing to take themselves out of existence is the most extreme act of distress there is. The state stepping in to silence this alarm bell by funneling suicidal people into a state sanctioned euthanasia program, normalizing this act through a socially accepted bureaucratic system, is not a good thing. It goes hand in hand with the state’s interest in maintaining the status quo at the expense of the population and the psychiatric industry’s interest in individualizing societal problems to extract profit and aid the existing system. It’s saying “there are no complaints here, just people with sick brains, carry on.”
it does not sound crazy
@marbleguard what you’re saying isn’t crazy, its literally medical anthropology. if you havent already i think you’d find reading james davies’ ‘cracked’ and ‘sedated’ very illuminating, as well as robert chapman’s ‘empire of normality’. it would place your thinking on this in a pretty robust context
Not to be a freak but why isn’t anyone into being.. gentle and not evil in bed
Also why is it that sex that isn’t wildly misogynistic or otherwise sadistic and borderline/actually abusive is immediately referred to as “boring”??? What does that say about you as a person?? What does that say about our society?? Also tmi but to be honest if things get too rough my body literally goes numb anyway. The lack of nuance in sensations is boring to me like the what fuck has porn done to people???? The definition of modern “exciting” sex is just beating someone and at least hinting at some sick parody of rape. Just because you have a boner doesn’t mean it’s any less fucked up.
In the 1980s, when many women were graduating with professional degrees, anger against women crackled the airwaves [popular culture recast tender, intimate sex as boring]. We saw a stupendous upsurge in violent sexual imagery in which the abused was female … In a world where both sexes’ guilt and angry fear surrounded the sense that women were getting out of control, the public quickly lost interest in ordinary unharmed nakedness. Presented as more compulsively engaging to the attention of men and, eventually, women, was imagery that played out anxieties from the sex war, reproducing the power inequality that recent social changes had questioned: male dominance, female submission. Female nakedness became inhuman, ‘perfected’ beyond familiarity, freakishly like a sculpture in plastic, and often degraded or violated.

When I was 12, I downloaded Angela Davis' Women, Race and Class as a pdf. Of course, I only ended up reading the first page bc 1.) my little brain couldn't even comprehend these concepts fully 2.) my English was nowhere near enough. But the spirit was there🫡. I thought of her highly; her work and influence as a feminist and Black activist is undeniably great, and in that regard, I still respect her. However, I can't help but see her as a huge hypocrite.
Imagine my disappointment, when I found out that at one point, she was touring the eastern bloc, praising the USSR, holding hands and posing with Soviet despots. Saying the Soviet Union is an equal society. Wow. I felt completely disgusted. When you shake someone's blood-stained hands, yours become a little bloody too. So much for freedom and equality. I wonder if the Hungarian Romas ever crossed her mind, who were forced by the state to have black ID cards; the Crimean Tatars, the Jews, the Ukrainians, the Chechens, and countless other ethnic groups who were violently repressed, persecuted, and Russified; the Hungarian minority in for example Yugoslavia, that was brutally discriminated against; how the Soviets stopped feminist groups altogether, made their meetings illegal; the list could go on and on. Prison abolitionist supporting a country and its satellite states that were prisons in of themselves, and also had barbaric, corrupt prison systems. Anti-imperialist supporting Russian imperialism. This isn't just about Angela Davis by the way, rather, I'm frustrated in general with these mostly western leftists, who at best are willfully ignorant, and at worst, are actively racist, sexist, and supporters of genocides themselves, as long as it's done in the name of their ideology.
I follow leftists and feminsts, and mostly end up feeling frustrated. Sorry not sorry, I can never get behind using the hammer and sickle symbol. On TikTok I saw this American communist girl wearing a T-shirt with Kim Jong Un's face on it, with 'supreme leader' written on it. I wonder, would she wear Hitler's face with a 'führer' title too, or would that not be as funny and quirky? Do North Koreans' oppression and suffering not matter?
To ignore someone's radical suffering, one has to think the victim isn't real, not an actual human. I guess it's easy to think certain humans don't exist, aren't real, if they're on the other side of the world, out of proximity.
I wonder if that girl cares, that in a Soviet controlled country, one could get pulled over by the police, and made to show their ID, simply because they picked a flower and put it on their shirt. While she's singing that regime's praises, she has the freedom to not only wear flowers, but a horrible dictator's face as well.
Anyway, I'm just ranting😮💨
What a coincidence that scientific studies performed by males just so happen to always support or align with Abrahamic religions and their beliefs on women. That we are submissive and that we function for male benefit. Religion and science, despite their many idiotic quarrels, can agree on one thing: the power of knowledge should be weaponized against women. That knowledge should both produce factual evidence of our inferiority (of course, with the requirements of their tampering with evidence, meticulously formulating experiments to get the results they want, and interpretting data in ways that suit their bias) and that women should be withheld from any epistemic authority, effectively preventing our correction of these studies done in bad faith. While both science and religion (within the realm of trying to decipher truth) are not inherently controlling and evil, mens hands plauge everything that can generate corruption. Male dominated science is the "God" of male athiests.
This is the study of feminist epistemology. How much of what you know is true? And where did it come from?
i didn't know i could be an even bigger kink-shamer but here we are.
so becoming a woman isn't a fetish for males, but there's a whole "hard kink" community on tumblr dedicated worshipping girlcock (transfem supremacy/transfem superiority)
terfs reduce women to their genitalia, but they call women "cuntgirl" and "ciscunt" (actual tags btw)
many trans women have a rape "kink" where they are the rapist fetishizing their own penis through feminization, but they justify this behavior as coping with oppression from women
rape is okay when the penis-haver calls himself a woman. rape is okay when the victim is a gross terf
the rise in kink/paraphilia acceptance definitely has nothing to do with paraphilic males calling themselves oppressed
nooooo u don't understand these are just fantasies. it isn't like every documented male serial killer started with fantasies before they moved on to rape and murder actual women
women: unlearn your disgust with highly-detailed rape fantasies. unlearn your gut feelings that warn you of danger. unlearn every survival instinct you have. millions of years of evolution and pattern recognition is transphobic
these male bodies will not hurt you. these penises will not rape you. sure, they fantasize about it, but fantasy means nothing. after all, they said they were safe. isn't that sweet? isn't that nice?
no no no, don't ask questions. you don't need proof. evidence is the devil's writing. just trust me. i say, therefore i am. just trust me. unpack your transphobia. just trust me. i'm a victim, same as you. just trust me just trust me just trust me just tru
it's fucked up how quickly people will treat you poorly once they realize you're a radfem. i haven't even been here for very long but i've already been called a white supremacist, a dimwit, a nazi, a TERF, a cunt, and given death threats to the point where i turned my anonymous asks off. i've only been posting for barely a month.
What I think a lot of people don't understand is that men don't actually, fundamentally comprehend the gravity of rape. In general, men haven't ever had to live with the omnipresent fear of it, and it certainly doesn't mark their daily lives to the same extent. They have no idea what it really means and view it as 'bad/unpleasant sex' rather than what it is-- total dehumanisation, violence that leaves its mark on the body and mind forever. For someone who never actively runs this risk, it's a difficult thing to grasp.
This is why you see so many men empathising with the accused rather than the accuser. In a situation of a rape accusation, they subconsciously put themselves in the place of the man, the rapist. Funnily enough they often can understand it if they think about themselves being raped by another man, it's then that they comprehend the subjugation and the violence inherent in the act. But this is still a fairly unlikely scenario for most men. Since the vast majority of rapes are committed by men against women, and men are conditioned to identify exclusively with men, they simply don't fully empathise with a female victim.
Even in consensual sex with the near universal penetrative active male/passive female sex model, they view women as made less than and degraded, and often hurt because that's just what sex is supposed to be like. So when someone says that rape makes women feel less than and degraded and hurts them badly, it doesnt strike them as particularly especially evil or horrifying.
Having sex with someone actually is a big deal and involves a ton of vulnerability and I think it’s extremely troubling and gross and unhealthy and actually exceptionally dangerous that we pretend otherwise and encourage people to “be mature” by compartmentalizing/completely eliminating their deeper human emotions from their sexuality and that any other view is dismissed as prudish and invalid and unenlightened and childish and restrictive. I can’t think about this too much because it makes me rage but I hate how much porn and capitalism have destroyed how we understand and experience sexuality and intimate connections with one another so much.
I'm so done with "TERFs" being outed everywhere and excluded from groups we SHOULD NOT be excluded from. Everyone picks trans women over women who want the world to be a safe place for us. How ironic is that?
Story time.
When I spoke to the Vancouver rape crisis center (Canada's longest standing rape crisis center that got defunded by trans activists because they exclusively hire women), they told me that the majority of the women they service there had histories in the foster care system (just like myself).
This very same Vancouver rape crisis center was vandalized by trans activists repeatedly. Trans activists wrote death threats to "terfs" on their walls. On a separate occasion there was a dead rat nailed to their door.
It is absolutely essential for women to be able to escape male violence.
What really makes me angry about trans activism is that it is so painstakingly obvious that dangerous and sexually deviant men are prioritized over vulnerable women.
Although people who subscribe to trans activism tend to believe that they are protecting some of the most vulnerable members of society, women who aged out of foster care are among the most vulnerable members of society and the general attitude towards us vs trans identied men is abhorrent. Women with sexual trauma (a characteristic that often overlaps experiences in foster care) are gaslit into believing that they are irrational for fearing men who openly pose a threat to women. Not only do these men demand access to our vulnerable spaces but they threaten us with graphic assault which often takes on a sadistic sexual theme. "Terf" is simply a witch hunt and it disproportionately targets the most vulnerable women - like women who need access to rape crisis centers or domestic violence shelters.

they stand their ground maintaining a WOMEN ONLY shelter no matter what. in the face of law suits. in the face of vandalism and harassment. in the face of being defunded by the city of vancouver. that's worth something. even if you only have $1. please donate to them.

Asexuals that claim they need to be part of the LGB community are like redheads that think they need to join the POC community.
No one's arguing that you don't have potential social discomforts, or even downright occasional hatefulness... But to compare it to systematic oppression is just inappropriate and offensive.
You're the guy complaining that there's a hair in his burger at a conference for world hunger. Yeah maybe you've got a real complaint but there's a time and a place that isn't here.
Asexuals are what happens when you want to criticise rape culture without criticising rape or men
