To celebrate the beginning of NaNoWriMo, I've decided to post a little bit about my Gallifrey WIPs.
Novels/Novellas
[R/N] Ascension Series: 1 - Heartsbound (Takes place between EL and TW1) - Coordinator Romana and Deputy Coordinator Narvin go deep undercover to dig up information about the manufacturing of illegal temporal weapons that have started to appear on the black market. Their mission: Find and extract the information from the target during an exclusive four-day event for the fabulously rich aboard a famous recreational starliner, without exposing themselves as CIA or Time Lords. Four days of sneaking around on a party cruise for the powerful and wealthy elite. What could possibly go wrong? 1.5 - Warbound - It's the middle of the Time War. Narvin is leading a Resistance mission to help the Time Lords take control of a Dalek-occupied planet when a small Phiadon ship crash-lands in the middle of a no man's land between the Daleks and Time Lords. There is one Phiadon survivor, but they are fatally injured. Narvin must make a difficult decision: Let one of the last remaining Phiadons die or order one of his soldiers to hand over their life (and body) to save a dying alien. Time is running out, and Narvin must choose: Life or Death. 2 - Soulbound (near the end of the Time War) - Narvin has devised a last-ditch plan to save Romana, but in doing so, he'll risk everything. If he succeeds, Romana will be free, but if he fails, neither will make it off Gallifrey alive. It's a risk he's prepared to take to be with Romana once more. 3 - Lifebound (post-DotD) - The war is over. Now, the survivors must pick up the pieces and rebuild what they can. The first item on the agenda: Find a new home. That may not be as easy as it sounds…
*This series was conceptualized before I had listened to the War Room audios. As such, I consider this as a post-TW4 divergent AU universe. That said, since this series is still being written, there could be small bits of WR info (e.g., Narvin's House name and family, names of planets and battles, etc.) that might make its way into one or two of these books.
[R/N, OT4] Project GP (Gallifreyan Pheonix) - What would have happened if Narvin had entirely accepted Mantus' offer and stayed in the Zero Booth during Romana's assassination attempt and subsequent exile? How different would the war have been with Narvin as Rassilon's Tactician General? These books will explore the war that could have been. Book one will focus on various facets of Narvin's Time War. Book two will revolve around the aftermath of the war and the survivors who lived through it. [final title not decided upon yet; previously considered titles: Starlight Falls, Dust To Dust; at least two books planned, still in the outlining phase]
*This is a massive project that will take quite a while to write out. At the moment, the bare-bones outline of the two books combined is around 40k words, to give an idea of the size and scope of this project. I can easily see this project reaching half a mil or more words before it's finally finished.
Novelettes/One-shots
[N&E, R/N] This Bloody War of Ours - Eris offers support to Narvin returning from Gallifrey after a disastrously failed unsanctioned mission. A hidden secret gives Narvin and the Resistance hope…and a possible way to end the war for good. The catch? Someone must return to Gallifrey on what's most likely to be a suicide mission. Eris must decide if the sacrifice of a certain life is worth the end of the bloodiest war the universe has ever seen…and whether he can live with the consequences of that decision. [Takes place directly after the events on Gallifrey during Transference; separated N/E bonus chapter]
[N] Desolation - After a mission goes horribly wrong, Narvin wakes up alone on an unfamiliar planet, all his memories of the previous mission erased. Using his old CIA field agent training and a handful of memories with Leela, he's forced to endure a harsh, desolate world bent on killing him. He must use everything he knows to survive and find a way off the planet…and back to the Resistance.
[fN/R/L, fN/B, fN&E] Rectification - While Narvin is away on a routine mission for Eris, a foreign Tardis lands in a storage bay on the Resistance command ship. Leela, Romana, and Eris go to investigate. Who is the pilot of this strange Tardis…and which side of the war are they on? [Takes place in an AU near the end of the war, where Narvin had found a way to save Romana and Leela, bringing them back to the Resistance. Possibly open-ended for R/L/N sequel?]
