Of course, Kimble's terran disguise proved quite nicely that the rosollons could have been venturing out while shifted all this time with nobody any the wiser. Then again … "Les, you don't suppose he's from before they cut themselves off, do you?" Elkor asked, his fur abruptly dropping flat against his skin as the thought occurred to him. "I mean, I'm not sure how old he looks for a terran, but if he can shift how old he looks … what if he got left behind or something?" "I … he couldn't be though, right?" Lestien asked. "If that were the case, he'd have had decades to get back to Rosolli. And why come here to Kyselle? We're way too far out from where their scouts were and in completely the wrong direction." "No, no, you're right," Elkor said, but he couldn't shake the sick feeling that had settled into his stomach.

"Hey, it's bad enough being stuck on a busted up station worrying about raiders and space storms and everything without giving myself homework on top of it," Telvar said, squinting at the station walls to try and read the docking port numbers. "Is it this one or the next one?" "Next one," Cammy chimed in. "And the station manuals are actually really interesting. It's not really like homework if it's interesting, right?" "I think perhaps you and I have different definitions of interesting, dear heart," Telvar, slowing the maintenance tender to a stop and then easing it into the docking port. "Now, you want to talk about the chemical reactions in the hull plating that were triggered by whatever collapsed the transit tunnel, that's something different."

"Yeah, that … that kind of … he shouldn't be on his own, should he? I mean, he shouldn't be out here away from Rosolli in the first place," Elkor said. Not that anyone was exactly sure where Rosolli was, only the general location of the star system, as the rosollons had taken steps to build a very effective defensive perimeter around their home after the incident with the sistil.

trees are very 🥺 because sometimes i’ll stand under the shade of a tree and look up at it and it’ll sway its branches about in the wind and i’m like oh my God i’m alive and YOU’RE alive. we are alive together and made up of the same starry stuff and standing right next to each other in this moment on this earth. do u feel it when i reach out and press my hand to your trunk? can you hear me? i think you’re so neat. and then the sunlight filters through its leaves just so and that lovely green color leaves me dazzled. it’s just very nice to be an alive thing next to a different sort of alive thing
