what people don’t understand about how adhd is disabling is that it’s not just getting temporarily distracted from, like, school work or hobbies. it’s getting distracted/being unable to motivate yourself to go to the doctor, eat regularly, do hygiene tasks, etc. it’s not knowing when or how long it will take you to do something, ANYTHING, and in many cases that thing is taking a shower or keeping your house from turning into a biohazard. it’s about being fundamentally incapable of controlling your attention and focus on anything, even and especially things you need to do to survive.

the place I work at remodeled these split gendered restrooms into “inclusive restrooms” and never told us what they meant while construction was ongoing. I need you to know every atom of potential criticism or whining that could’ve happened disappeared when people found out this meant we got 10 fully separate private bathrooms with sinks inside. I’ve not heard a single person crack a joke about the inclusive signage. this is the world TERFs are trying to steal from you

This is called a "superloo" and terfs are actively trying to steal this from you, in the UK they changed bathroom regulations to mean new buildings have to prioritise gendered toilets rather than build superloos.

This also upset a lot of architects and designers who like the superloos. They're also typically more like small rooms rather than having doors you can look under.

Something Tumblr has failed to understand in its quest to become solvent.

Is that user surveys would probably help in providing things people would actually pay for!

--I would pay up to $5 a month to be able to list my crochet for sale in-app. I post the photos and information and indicate it's a sales post, Tumblr provides the "buy here" link.

--I would pay $30 a year for ad-free, but not $70.

--I would pay $1/mo to have a second user icon, and while $1/mo isn't much, it adds up. Indeed, back in the LJ days it was really common to pay for extra icons for your RP accounts so your character could "make facial expressions."

--that $70/yr? I'd pay that if it included one free Blaze per month, no ads, and three user icons.

I would pay to help keep the lights on if they gave me something I felt was worth paying for. But they don't seem to understand that payment needs to have value added, and "we're doing weird coding stuff nobody wants" is not value added.

Cemeteries are not wastes of space. Historical cemeteries ESPECIALLY are not wastes of space. The fact developers are continuously foaming at the mouth to destroy them and put a strip mall up in their place should make you even more determined to help maintain them. In urban areas, they are a haven for wildlife. They are a green space. If you are too afraid of death to utilize them for that purpose, that is on you.

Cis people are weird about other cis peoples names too. I’ve seen lots of posts pointing to times where cis people are fine with another cis person’s chosen non-birth name. Which is true, especially about celebrities, but this is my experience with it at a personal level and. It is??? So baffling??.? (Not to say that the people making those posts are unaware, or that people in general are unaware. This is just my first time experiencing this on a cis to cis level)

So, at my parents church, there is an older lady with the name, let’s say, Alexandria Rose. Most people in the congregation have been calling her Alex, but at one point she told them that she’d prefer to be called Lexie. My mom tells me this, and that she (my mom) and one of her other church friends are struggling with remembering this and so they’re just going to call her Rose.

?????? Not??? What she asked???

I gently scolded my mom and told her that it was very inconsiderate to call her one thing when she’d clearly stated a preferred name. She did end up agreeing, and I started helping to remind her to use the right name. Which is good, but the way she was just so casually like…nah, I think the fuck not, that’s fine. ??? Wildin

Anyone else have trouble sleeping not because falling asleep is hard but because falling asleep is extremely unpleasant and stressful and anxiety inducing?

Being sleepy enough to fall asleep immediately is always a bad thing for me because it means I’m almost guaranteed to jerk awake in a panic as soon it starts to happen.
