Paddock Ducklings - OB87 & KA12
Partnering: Ollie Bearman & Kimi Antonelli (platonic)
Summary: Kimi and Ollie must save a group of ducks from the paddock.
Warnings: None (if I've missed any please let me know and I'll add them)
Kimi turned around quickly, his hands tight behind his back.
“Right,” Ollie raised his eyebrows. “I totally believe you”
“Exactly. So, I’ve got to go-” Quack.
“Kimi, what was that?” Ollie asked slowly, attempting to look around Kimi’s back to see what he was holding, but Kimi jumped backwards to escape him.
“Promise not to freak out, okay?” Kimi brought his hands to the front of his body once Ollie nodded.
With beady little black eyes that just pulled your soul in when it looked at you.
“That’s not all” Kimi spoke sheepishly as he bent down and took a cover off of a box.
Where little ducklings were.
Cute, tiny, fluffy, ducklings.
All looking up to Kimi and Ollie like they were their new parents (even the mother duck in Kimi’s hands).
“Kimi!” Ollie exclaimed, his mouth wide open with shock at what his eyes were seeing.
“Ollie! Shush,” Kimi put one finger up to Ollie’s mouth, effectively making him quiet. “You promised”
“I didn’t expect you to have become a mother duck. Kimi, what are you going to do with them? The Silverstone Grand Prix is in two days!”
“I- Well-” Kimi mumbled under his breath. “My plan was to carry them around in my backpack”
Kimi shoved the box with all 10 little ducklings into Ollie’s arms while holding the mother duck close to his chest.
Looking down to the box, Ollie almost melted at the sight. 10 ducklings looking up to him, wide-eyed and almost begging him to take them in, like this was all rehearsed to purposely trick Ollie into helping Kimi.
At the silent response of Ollie, Kimi pulled his best puppy-dog eyes while looking directly into Ollie’s soul.
“C’mon, I couldn’t just leave them all alone to wander around a race track!” Kimi tried to reason, looking more hopeful by the second.
As if somehow they could understand English, all the ducks quacked at (roughly) the same time, along with Kimi as he squealed and attempted to hug Ollie with the mother duck in his hands. It did not go well.
“But,” Ollie spoke sternly. “We use my plan instead”
That’s how they both ended up carrying around a mother duck and her little ducklings throughout a bustling paddock.
“This is by far your worst plan yet!” Kimi whisper-yelled in the approximate direction of Ollie and the ducklings- practically crawling on the ground behind the couches of the press-conference room.
“That’s rich coming from you, ‘Mr. Put them in my backpack!” Ollie whisper-yelled back, trying to not tip over the box of ducklings as they tried to make their way inside rooms without alerting those around that they had ducks with them.
“It was better than crawling, this is the most stupid I’ve ever looked” Kimi rolled his eyes, stopping for a quick breather.
“You literally have the easier job, try having a box of ducklings” Ollie muttered.
Soon, they somehow made it to the paddock entrance without altering anyone, which actually was quite the feat.
Now there was only one thing left to do; reach the gate that led to the outside world. It seemed simple, sure, but it was actually a minefield of reporters, photographers, and any other personnel you don’t want to find you with ducks.
“What’s the plan now, genius?” Kimi asked with an amount of snark Ollie didn’t he had in him.
“Relax, the best distraction in the world is about to walk straight through here” He replied, nodding his own head towards a large number of people in white coats coming their way.
“How in the hell are the caterers supposed to help us?” Kimi asked. It just looked like the regular catering route- nothing special that could lead to a big distraction.
Ollie just smirked, turning his head slightly towards Kimi. “Esteban told me that he heard from Yuki, who heard from Pierre, who saw-”
“Get to the point, Ollie”
“Right. Well, the caterers are apparently supplying Kinder chocolate today. Do you know what that means?” Ollie waited for a beat for dramatic effect. “Lando”
The realization dawned on Kimi’s face.
Everybody knew that Lando was a… fanatic about Kinder chocolate. Any opportunity to get it, he was there. So of course he was going to be trying to coerce the caterers into giving him some.
“It’s already happening, look over there” Ollie pointed towards where Lando was walking alongside the head caterer, clearly trying to swindle an entire tray of chocolate from them.
Everybody stopped and watched them, waiting for the inevitable chaos that would follow. Last time there was Kinder it did not end well, most of it ending upon the floor.
Making a mad-dash towards the exit gate, they both finally made it to the sidewalk area with no other people around. Ollie immediately dropped the box of ducklings he was carrying to gasp for breath after the most running he had ever done in his life.
“Careful!” Kimi gently placed the mother duck down, her waddling over to her little hoard of children that were climbing out of the box by stepping on each other.
They both watched as the ducks all waddled away into the streets, swimming slightly in the puddles they came across.
“We’d make good parents”
“Totally”
