shout out to ace and aro kids who are constantly bombarded with the opinion that sex and romantic love are directly connected to living a happy life.
Yâall are just reblogging this at the speed of sound tonight
Since itâs almost valentines day, and this message is about to get hammered in even more, reblogging this again.
please god stop stigmatizing hallmarks of neurodivergent behavior as âred flagsâ for bad friends.
I mean stuff like:
Oversharing (ADHD)
âsecretlyâ copying the way you talk/dress/act (common for everyone, but many neurodivergent people who are affected socially)
Forgetting to pause and ask about you (ADHD, autism, social anxiety)
Failure to convey empathy or affection in a way you understand (autism, social anxiety, many many others)
Unhappiness (Depression, also friends donât have to perform happiness wtf)
Talk âtoo muchâ (ADHD, social anxiety, so many more)
Fussy (really?)
Refuse to open up (really??)
Talk loudly (ADHD notoriously makes volume control hard, also wtf howâs that make u a bad friend)
Just hhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
talk to your friends !! if you feel underappreciated or overtalked!
â¨Communicationâ¨
THIS!!! THIS!!!
I had SO many problems with talking too much all throughout middle school and even to this day, and no one told me SHIT until they were blowing up at me for no understanding/doing something wrong.
ALSO, yes, talk to your friends if you feel talked over or donât understand/appreciate something they do, but please be nice about it. I had a parter who didnât like that I always forgot to ask them how they were doing after they asked me, but they brought it up by saying, âI feel like youâre using our chat just to talk about yourselfâ and basically calling me selfish instead of, I donât know, âI have trouble vocalizing my feelings unless Iâm asked, could you ask me how Iâm doing after I ask you?â
Be!!!! Kind!!!! Learn to communicate with us the way we know, weâre always making an effort to communicate with you in your NT way!!!
Honestly I wish people with neurological disorders and mental illness talking to themselves was more normalized so hereâs to people with autism who narrate things! people with adhd who talk out loud to remember stuff! people with touretteâs and tic disorders with verbal tics! people with psychosis who talk to their voices! people with DID who talk to their alters!
If you talk to yourself for any reason you are wonderful and not bad or weird. And if you see someone talking to yourself and think itâs weird? Maybe mind your own business!
People have this weird belief that if you're critical of a system or tradition, then it must be because you failed to live up to that system or tradition. The idea of having a principled stance, regardless of whether or not *you* personally benefit from society accepting that stance, is foreign to so many people. And this belief is really fucking important for and beneficial to the elites of this country. If you can get the masses to equate criticizing you and the institutions you control with abject personal failure, congratulations, you've just made yourself immune to accountability
Also, as a failure of the education system: we need to spend more time listening to the people our systems leave behind. "Well of course you're critical of this; you failed" should not be a conversation-ender even if it is true.
body shaming men is also wrong and not funny
body shaming men is also wrong and not funny
I didnât want to disrupt the post about hostile architecture I saw because itâs true that the main target is homeless people but I did want to mention that this architecture also hurts people who arenât skinny. I want to preface this all by saying I am in no way trying to minimize how this impacts people experiencing homelessness I am just trying to add on to the discussion of how these are bad.
You think that someone who canât fit into those weird little yellow seats is going to feel comfortable? No. It will only make them feel bad or excluded.
Look at this shit. Itâs not good or nice.
It only adds to the ways fat people are made feel unwelcome and though we already needed to tear this shit down because it makes life a million times worse for people experiencing homelessness and so this isnât saying this is why you should tear it down. It is saying that our society is fatphobic and that sucks.
Itâs also not great for disabled people (or god forbid, disabled homeless people because they exist too) because if someone is having a crisis and needs to lay down they have to lay on the ground instead of on a bench. A bench is a lot safer because youâre not as likely to lay on something hard or sharp or be tripped over/stepped on. Someone might also see a bench like these and opt to try to find a better place to lie down and end up falling instead. People who pass out or have CFS episodes might only have a few seconds warning before they should really be lying down, and benches like this make it much harder.Â
Iâve seen some places say that benches like the first one are âwheelchair accessibleâ, which is fucking stupid because itâs already a chair??? the nature of a wheelchair is that itâs a chair, you donât need a special space to park your wheelchair, you can just park in on one end of the bench.Â
menâs loyalty to violence is disturbing. when women want a life free of abuse, assault, threat, & coercion, menâs first suggestion is âlearn to fight back. learn to defend yourselfâ. i donât want my life to be a fight. i donât want to âprove myselfâ through inflicting pain & fear. i donât find violence and physical conflict fulfilling or self-actualising.  theyâre exhausting & dehumanizing
Tea only
i am of course tempted to make a joke about the harley quinn show being an example of gay people cannot have shit ever without some disgusting add-on trying to lump itself with us but the antisemitism in that show seems to fly under the radar and THAT is the bigger problem at hand here
Jews will talk 'subtle' antisemitism (read: antisemitism that isnt openly calling for death to Jews) and how dangerous it is and how it introduces people to antisemitism and people will ignore them then be shocked when Jewish people are hurt in real life. "How can people think like this in current year?' Because you ignore it until it's the absolute worst.
You can reblog fuck nazis post and protect Jews post, but you still have to advocate against antisemitism and it all starts with shows with badly hidden antisemitism
For anyone wondering
In the very first episode they made Oswald Cobblepot and his wife throwing their son a bar mitzvah. The Cobblepots are very rich, even handing out bags of cash as gift bags. They also control Gothamâs largest bank.
In the fifth episode, Ivyâs Jewish landlords burn down their own building for insurance and called it âJewish lightning.â
The antisemitic caricatures of Penguin and his family, and of Sy Borgman and his wife, are reminiscent of Julius Streicher's work in Der StĂźrmer
A reminder that there were no major works prior to this that characterized Cobblepot as Jewish. They made a character Jewish just to make him the subject of antisemitism.
I literally cannot empathize enough how much this bs happens and people tell us Jews that we're "overreacting"
Don't forget how the show actually removed Harley's Jewish heritage (which was present in all her previous incarnations) just for this series, and then immediately put these jokes in. It's very obvious and deliberate, and taints the whole series for us.
If you experienced trauma in childhood or had a rough childhood, dude listen to me. Offer yourself play. You were deprived of it.
Keep bubbles in the house, blow bubbles in the yard, blow them in your room, get a coloring book that doesnât have to be an adult one with mandalas, watch cartoons, laugh at stupid things, dress up as a superhero for Halloween, wear a Santa hat on Christmas and big light up snowflake earrings, lay down on the floor, lay down in the grass, eat eggos for dinner sometimes. Itâs not stupid. Youâre not childish. Youâre giving your inner child what they had taken from them. They deserve it.
I don't want to derail this post because it's an important message, and OP has addressed it to the people who most need to hear it. But... can i just add, for people who don't feel like they can give themselves permission to do this, that you can give yourself these things even if you didn't overtly experience trauma in childhood?
Even if you never thought of your upbringing as painful or malicious, you can and should still give yourself things you missed out on. Take that class! Learn that skill! Eat the foods you like, or branch out into new ones! Jump in piles of leaves and decorate your walls the way you want them.
Give yourself the things you couldnt have as a kid, especially if you didn't really get to have a childhood, but even if you didn't have the childhood you wanted. Go for a bike ride with friends. Go stargazing. Whatever it was that you feel like you missed, it's important to seek those things and remember that play and joy aren't exclusive to childhood.
I donât think you derailed this at all and think this was a really thoughtful addition. So thank you!
Im in fucking tears rn
Even if you had the best childhood ever and you still like doing those things, do them. There are no rules, so why not enjoy yourself

actually im gonna say it again. if u see a m/f couple and think âEWWW heteros đ¤˘đ¤˘đ¤˘â i will put u in the fucking morgue. bi ppl exist. transhets exist. maybe start remembering that lol
Also! Het couples who feature poc or a white person and a poc are a big deal too bc most media is just white relationships whether gay or straight or whatever!
hey reblog this version
white people go like âis anyone going to redesign this nonhuman evil character as a poc?â and not wait for an answer
white people go âis anyone going to redesign this nonhuman good character as a white person?â and not wait for an answer
white people can rb but please do not clown
white people really cant give a shit abt anyone but themselves unless held at gunpoint or smth huh?
âwhat about the poor little white kids just trying to have fun?â what about the poor little kids of color made to feel unsafe and unwelcome in a space that was supposed to be fun?
âwhy canât poc just make their own redesigns and we can keep these onesâ why cant you realize that your actions have consequences and that you should maybe try to not enforce racist stereotypes??
like ofc its ideal to have VARIETY among both villains AND protagonists, its when your characters look like this
that the issue arises
scratch âcanâ, white people are encouraged to reblog
whats happening with crisp ratt
SO basically someone posted this on twitter:Â Â
and everyone picked pratt that he started trending lmfaoÂ
(and then people found out about him being MAGA/belonging to a church that supports conversion therapy)
SO NOW the marvel PR clown brigade is writing dissertations on how nice chris pratt is (like??)
and people are rightfully upset bc WHERE was this energy for people in the marvel cast who were actually harassed like
and ALL this was over a twitter joke about which âchrisâ is better lmfao
Listen white men weâre not denying that youâre friend with the guy but that doesnât stop him from supporting people who are against universal human rights. Thereâs no point in saying âheâs such a good guy and a good friend and a good Christianâ I donât know, maybe heâs a great friend. But as multidimensional as we are, itâs not impossible for a good friend to have shitty opinions. I donât know how you, a RICH WHITE CISHET MAN, can make the poor excuse that âheâs a good friendâ to YOU and think thatâs enough. Of course heâs friendly to you because heâs not against YOUR rights. Youâre a RICH WHITE CISHET MAN, and you canât get hurt by the things he supports, so whether heâs good company to you doesnât change the fact that he supports the erasure of gay lives.
We are not Sinless Mr Downey. But we have character development. We accept that we said things that were ignorant because we didnât know better, and if confronted to it we donât try to shrug it off because weâre still good friends. How can such old men forget to take responsibility for their âmistakesâ. How can you get to a point where you defend someone for being against a communityâs human rights and pretend that criticism is the most oppressive thing people can do to him ? Why are you defending the oppressor and pulling the victim card for him ?
I didnât see this energy when people replaced The Black Pantherâs promotional poster with APES. I didnât see it when Nathalie Portman was dragged TWICE for her character in Thor. I didnât see it when Taika Waititi was selected to direct Thor and fans were racist. Didnât see it either when Brie Larson was dragged on every single platform for playing a fictional character. Didnât see for Mackie, didnât see it for the sexualization of Hayley Atwell, didnât see it for people who werenât being oppressive but truly oppressed.
if you dont have me on facebook you are probably not missing out on any posts but the comment section is important too lmao
I went to the Renaissance faire dressed as a warrior. I had a real sword with me, too. I was standing (in character) next to a sword-fighting ring, where kids of all ages got the chance to pick up a sword and challenge the champion. Some woman walks by, with her little girl. The girl starts walking towards the ring, saying she wants to fight. But the mom pulled her away hella sharply, and was like, âThatâs for boys.â You donât want to be a BOY, do you?â   And the girl looked around and saw me. I think she thought I was a boy; I had my hair in a ponytail, and was wearing a hood. So she comes up to me and asks me, âDo you think girls can be fighters, too?â And her mom looks like sheâs silently gloating. Like she thinks Iâm going to say no. So I take off my hood, untie my hair so that it flows freely, and kneel before her. And Iâm like, âMilady, anyone can be a fighter.â I swear, the look on that motherâs face made my day.
This post was good but then it got better
Okay, this is a slight topic diversion, but in response to the above comment. Iâve volunteered at the CT Ren Faire for years now. For the last 5 or so Iâve worked in the game section, and we have a game similar to the above comment called âSmite the Knightâ. Iâve been in the ring before, itâs a ton of fun getting to run around with the kids. The main goal is entertainment. Have a good shtick, keep the crowd engaged, and let the kids have a good time.
In both work and observing, I have learned something about kids. A lot of parents try to get their boys to go fight. Of the young ones that do, they tend to be shy. You get the ones who just swing the boffer swords around with no regard for life, but, mostly, theyâre reserved. Itâs adorable. I mean, theyâre kids.
But the girls. THE GIRLS. Holy crap. I swear, the pinker the dress, the more taffeta and glitterâŚthe more intensity. I remember, the first year I worked there, one girl came in, grabbed the biggest sword she could, and WENT TO TOWN on our knight. Lifted it over head, let out this primal scream and mowed him down. Homeboy is 6â˛2âł, she was FIVE. And once he was in the fetal position (He was fine. It was for show.) on the ground, she stopped, put her foot on his chest, and yelled âI AM A FIERCE PRINCESS!!â. Later in the day when she walked by a couple of us yelled âAh! Itâs the fierce princess!â and she stopped and flexed. It was the best, and I will never forget that girl.
OH MY GOD ITâS BACK YES
This has improved since last I reblogged.
I taught karate for like 5 years, and the girls were always, pound for pound, better than the boys. Even the girls who didnât really want to do it and were only there because their parents made them were better than like 95% of the boys.
I was playing fiddle at a ren faire, and two little girls were really enjoying our set. After quite some time one of them walked up to me and shyly offered me her star tinsel tiara, because she âdidnât have any money. And this protects you from trolls!â I said âThanks, thatâs really sweet â but what about you? Donât you need protection from trolls?â
At which point this six-ish-year-old girl whips out her certificate from the axe throwing booth and says âNah, Iâm fine.â
I still have that tinsel tiara. Itâs draped over my modem. I figure itâll protect me from the most trolls that way.
I am not in the habit of reblogging a post and slapping an âit got betterâ on there BUT I SAY GOTDAMN
I GET TO SEE SUCH LEGENDARY POSTS IRLL
the happiness i feel may be just a bit of an overreaction
This is so adorable!
