actually made this before the election tho seems slightly more relevant after watching CA vote no on things like rent control and, like, Prohibiting Slavery
"Touch book" has potential when "touch grass" misdiagnoses the problem like sometimes people don't need to go outside, they need to imbibe the wisdom of a proper tome to put their ideas into some necessary perspective
somebody's making a statement that's deeply ahistorical about the political movement they're ostensibly involved in? touch book.
spreading a misconception that can only happen from reading a lot of popular science about new discoveries without having ever learned the basics of the field? touch book.
getting so deep in a niche that you forget what the norms of the society you're in actually look like, and start saying very conformist things in an effort to be contrarian? I mean you could touch grass about that one as well but like. touch book.
sweeping and highly inaccurate claims about what intersectionality is?
touch book.
We just saw a very interesting one of these under a screenshot of us talking about intersectionality, because men love strawmanning feminism.
Redditors when someone reads feminist writings more advanced than the most libbed-up "women can do anything men can!" platitudes: hmmmmmm is this radical (which means evil) feminism?
Dragonized Gloink Qween
so i made and account on tv tropes and it asked for my relationship status
i went over and was about to put in “single” or “it’s complicated” and, well..
i can’t deal anymore
and the link……
just jokingly thought "it's so ableist to make me work during a flare up" and then stopped what I was doing and just stood there for a second because. yeah. that's. that's ableism man. you shouldn't have to work during flare ups. that's just. a true fact.
learning Abt American black history should radicalize people because 80% of it is just "yeah these white people committed hate crimes and mostly got away with it while black families and communities were left in shambles and still haven't had reparations met decades later"
white Americans will teach fabricated black history but remove the other half of it because it quite literally makes them look evil with the amount of murder and displacement they have caused to black communities. they'll teach you a portion of MLK but not the BPP or Tulsa race massacre
"we'll teach you a little bit about Rosa Parks but exclude every other black civil rights leader and activist especially Malcolm x + accomplishments enslaved black people made or their rebellion against their slavers"
"don't ask us what happened to that black neighborhood in 1985"
it's very fucking important to learn about black American history in full detail because they are dead set on erasing and fabricating our trauma filled history. it is detrimental to civil rights as a whole.
One of my favorite activities is traumatizing crackers with lil snippets of what they’ve done to us. Some of my favorites include:
The “last” non-prison chattel slaves known to be released in the US were released in the 1960s. Like 5 years before the civil rights movement. My (Black, tbc) dad was born while other Black folks were still enslaved. I’m only 29.
Speaking of my dad, he was part of bussing and desegregation as a high schooler. Note again, I’m only 29.
There are still schools being desegregated as recently as the past decade. Not just redlining, etc. literal “we don’t let Black people in these parts” type segregated schools.
I’ve met multiple Black folks, including myself, who were functionally enslaved to a white at some point during their life. We weren’t legally their property via contract/deed but that didn’t stop her from hunting me down like a fucking dog across fields and through alleys while I tried to escape her with nothing but the clothes on my body.
At least 200 sundown towns are known to still exist in the US. For those who don’t know, cities where “the sun better not go down on you in (city)”. Because if you’re Black you won’t be seen again. Lotta Black folks outside cities know at least one family member or friend’s family member who got caught near one and disappeared.
MOVE Bombing in Philly, 65 predominantly Black homes destroyed to kill 13 Black separatists, half of them kids. In the past decade it was discovered two of the bodies weren’t returned to the families and ended test cadavers in multiple universities.
Tulsa race massacre
And just. So much fucking more. There’s so so much more y’all have done to us I could sit here all night and not name a fraction of it all.

I don’t spend money on nicotine
I don’t gamble my money away on sports

It burns my biscuits whenever I hear someone say that a person or group "doesn't contribute to society." Society is comprised of people. Those people are society. Society exists for and because of the people in it. It's like when I'm bicycling in the city and some schmuck leans out the window of his lifted pickup and yells at me for "blocking traffic." Bitch, I am traffic.
I just don't think we ever wrapped up the Clown Sightings of 2016 in a satisfactory way.
I feel like we got the briefest glimpse of what it must be like for the people in the Doctor Who universe.

my booabs...
this is actually HILARIOUS because both domestic rabbits and domestic cats practice dominance-related social grooming but for wildly different reasons.
if you're a rabbit, the boss rabbit is the one who gets groomed by its subordinate rabbits.
but if you're a cat... the boss cat is the one that grooms the other cats.
BOTH these idiots are going "aw yeah, it's good to be on top >:) "
