this man is canonically like the nicest dude around. He hosts parties and welcomes everyone to the team. Heâs happy being alternate captain despite being on the team for way longer. He loves Ottawa despite them sucking as a team. He loves his wife and his son!!! He lightly threatens Troy to not be an asshole, but is otherwise super welcoming to mr dickhead supreme. One thing about hollanov, especially in the early days but also later, is that they are jealous of each other. Ilya sees Shane as the perfect hockey prodigy with the perfect family and life. Heâs so dedicated to the sport, and thatâs what makes him the best. He can answer questions in two languages flawlessly, something ilya notably struggles with in the first part of the series. in my dreams unrivaled is about them finally acknowledging and working through processing shanes issues leading up to ottawas first stanley cup win, i want it to start with shane in a Considerably worse place mentally, restricting himself, barely enjoying his husband who he lives with, overworking himself, torn up about not being the captain and getting into fights with ilya about it bc hes stuck on the idea that he cant redeem himself until this team has a cup, i want them to win the cup in the end and for shane to have worked through all if this over the course of the season to the point where he realizes that the thought of losing didnt paraliyze him finally, and was maybe the thing that let them win

One thing about Heated rivalry is that they make me believe they genuinely want each other. The way that they kiss and all the other scenes, it is so obvious they like each other. Sooo why are we writing Shane that he always annoyed at Ilya? Did we forget about bathroom scene? He was looking at Ilya with stars in his eyes, mind you, after got ghosted for 6 months. That man donât get annoyed at his husband. On the contrary he is the enabler. Ilya wants to prank people. Shane makes the plans. Ilya wants to eat out. Shane finds the restaurant for them. Ilya wants kiss. Shane is running to give him. So no Shane doesnât get annoyed when his husband acts himself. He loves it and makes sure Ilya feels good enough to be himself.
My Shane is an enabler. Heâs gonna roll his eyes and tell ilya to fuck himself, but he loves that shit. Heâs icing Ilya injuries after a fight barely hiding the fact that he found it funny. Heâs providing information for chirps. Heâs joining in on the fun cause he loves his husband. Have we stopped and considered the DEVASTATING two man chirping that could happen when Shane and Ilya are on the same team. Iâve always liked to imagine Ilya is a gossip and loves bringing shit up on ice from players personal life (within reason). Combine that with Shane âI can recite any and all nhl statistics from the last 30 yearsâ Hollander and we have a truly lethal combination.
