pairing: Steve Harrington x fem!HendersonOC
chapter summary: in which Lacy finishes a fight that Steve starts, and season one comes to an end.
last chapter // next chapter coming soon
After Eleven's small reunion with the rest of the party, the team split up. Nancy and the Byers went to a small shack in the woods to try and cure Will of his parasite, trying to turn up to the heat and make Will uninhabitable, because ifâŠif Eleven went to close the gate, it would kill the entire hivemind, which included Will as the spy of the army.Â
Hopper and Eleven went to go close to the gate between the worlds, waiting for Will to be safe.Â
Kill the brain, the rest of the army goes with.Â
Steve and Lacy stayed at the Byers house to babysit the rest of the kids, Mike, Max, Dustin and Lucas. Much to Lacyâs and everyone else's annoyance. Nobody was happy with the arrangement, after all most of their friendâs lives were in danger, or going through a rough time. But they were stuck at the house.Â
âIs this really necessary?â Steve groaned as Dustin tossed out everything in the fridge, holding the demogorgon corpse.Â
Dustin looked at him incredulously. âYes it is! This is a groundbreaking scientific discovery, We canât just bury it like some common mammal, okay? Itâs not a dog.âÂ
âAlright alright alright.â Steve sighed, shoving the demogorgon into the fridge. âBut youâre explaining this to Mrs. Byers.â
Lacy looked at the discarded food on the floor, finding some pasta and condiments as Lucas and Max cleaned up the living room, sweeping up broken glass. âDoes anyone know how to cook?â Lacy asked, trying to read the nutrition facts for instructions, as she started looking at all the food. None of the kids had eaten yet, Lacy was hungry and frankly, she needed to feel like she was helping.Â
âMike, would you just stop pacing around already?â Lucas groaned, watching as the boy walked in circles around the living room.Â
âYou werenât in there Lucas!â Mike replied, frustration lacing his voice. âThat lab is swarming with hundreds of those dogs.âÂ
âThe Chief will take care of her!âÂ
Steve walked in, trying to play the voice of reason. âListen dude, if a coach calls a play in the game, bottom line, you execute it, alright?âÂ
Lacy rolled her eyes, having followed Steve out of the kitchen, abandoning her dinner-mission. âLike this is some stupid sports game.â she commented, which earned a glare from Steve, she started helping clean up, organising her purse of things. She slipped the vial of medication they had used to sedate Will hours ago, as well as putting her other various weapons that she had given out back into her purse.Â
âAnd weâre not even in the game, weâre on the bench!â Mike added.Â
Steve stammered a bit, trying to regain control over the situation. âRight- so-so my point isâŠ.âÂ
The room just watched him, eyebrows raised as he admitted defeat.Â
He just sighed, tossing a towel onto the floor. âYouâre right, weâre on the bench. There's nothing we can do.âÂ
Lacy was thinking, biting her cheek as she rummaged through her bag, before tossing it loosely on the floor. âThereâs always something you can doâŠâ She mumbled, as she thought, grabbing a pen and paper. âWhat do we know?â Lacy asked, looking at everyone.Â
âJohnothan, Joyce and Nancy are trying to get the parasite out of Willâ Dustin said, beginning to pace.
âEleven and Hopper are going to close the gate using Elevenâs powersâ Max added, trying to see what Lacy was writing.Â
â--but the house is swarming with Demodogsâ Mike interrupted, still frustrated.Â
Lacy was just scribbling on a piece of paper, moving her hand along the page. âWe donât have powers to take on that many demodogs, besides they left over 15 minutes ago, no way weâd get there in time to help them.âÂ
âSee! Nothing we can do!â Steve exclaimed, raising his hands. Lacy crumpled up the paper she was scribbling on and threw it at him.Â
âNo no, when they ran away from the busâŠthey were called away, theyâre a hivemind.â Lacy reiterated, Dustin and Mike both brightened up, running to a wall in the house from the makeshift map Will had created in his feverish mindset.Â
âSo if we get their attentionâŠâ Dustin started and Mike picked up âMaybe we can draw them from the lab!âÂ
âClearing a path to the gate.â Max concluded.Â
Steve looked between the children. âYeah, and then we all die.âÂ
âThatâs one point of viewâ Dustin narrated.Â
âNo no, thats not a point of view, thats a factâ Steve bickered as Lacy and Mike followed the map wall.Â
âI got it!â Mike crouched, touching the picture. âThis is where the chief dug his hole, this is our way to the tunnel soâŠâÂ
Lacy was at the midpoint of all the tunnels. âAnd this is like their hub!âÂ
âSo maybe if we set it on fireâÂ
Steve protested immediately. âOh yeah? Thats a no.âÂ
Lacy just threw the box of pasta at him. âThey would all come to stop us.âÂ
âThe mind flayer would call away his armyâ Lucas added.Â
The children and Lacy all pitched in, running off of each others thoughts as they formed a plan.
âThey would all come to stop us!âÂ
â--and then we circle back to the exitââ âHey!â Steve tried getting their attention but was quickly overlapped by Lacy.Â
âBy the time they realize weâre goneââÂ
âEl would be at the gate!âÂ
Steve clapped and raised his voice. âHey! Hey! Hey! This is not happening! I promised to keep you shitheads safe and thats what i plan on doing. Weâre staying here. On the bench. Does everyone understand that?âÂ
Lacy scrunched up her nose. âThen Iâll do it.â She said, grabbing her purse. âWe would need gear, weapons, shovels probably, oh and ropeââ
âI said, does everyone understand that?â Steve repeated assertively, looking at Lacy in annoyance. âI need a yes.âÂ
But as Lacy opened her mouth to start an argument, they heard the revving on an engine in the driveway.Â
Max ran up to the window, peeking outside. âOh noâ She whispered and Lucas and Lacy came running to the window. âIts my brother, he cant know Iâm here. Heâll kill me, heâll kill us.â
âYou have a brother?â Lacy asked, as she huddled the kids, crouching down with them. âWhy would he kill you?âÂ
âBecause heâs a jerkâ and hates Lucasâ Max insisted.Â
âOkay we cannot be dealing with this right nowâ Lacy mumbled to herself, as she peered through the window, making eye contact with Steve.Â
Their job was to protect the kids.Â
Lacy stayed inside, huddled with the kids, while Steve went outside, arms crossed outside the front door. Lacy and all the kids peered through the window to watch the exchange as the headlights shut off from the car.Â
âAm I dreaming or is that you Harrington?â Billy Hargrove, taunted.Â
Steve looked down, sighing to himself. âYeah itâs me, donât cream your pants,âÂ
âI'm looking for my step sister.â Billy announced, smoking a cigarette. âA little birdie told me she was here.âÂ
âReally? Weird, donât know her.âÂ
âSmall? Redhead? Bit of a bitch.â He described.Â
The two of them bickered outside, before Billy pointed to the window, spotting them. Lacy quickly shoved the kidâs heads down from the window as Billy shoved Steve to the ground.Â
Lacy stood up, guarding the kids behind her as Billy broke the door open, Steve laid on the ground, getting up outside.Â
âWell well well, Lucas Sinclair.â Billy gruffed. âMax, I thought I told you to stay away from him. You disobeyed me, you know what happens when you disobey me. I break things.âÂ
Billy stepped forwards, shoving Lacy aside and in a swift violent movement, Billy grabbed Lucas by the throat and rammed him against a wall, everyone started screaming.Â
âBilly! Stop! Stop!âÂ
Lucas kicked him in the balls, shoving him off as the kids screamed.Â
âYou are so dead Sinclair! So dead!â Billy yelled as Steve shoved his shoulder and socked him in the face.Â
Lacy rushed forwards, ushering him back to the living room as the older guys fought in the kitchen, standing in front of all the kids as they watched Steve and Billy fight.Â
Billy chuckled sadistically. âThere he is! Iâve been waiting so long to finally meet this King Steve!â Billy taunted, nose bleeding, hair ruffled up.Â
The two of them began to fight, shoving each other into tables and chairs, punching, throwing plates and swinging.Â
âEveryone back up! Behind me!â She said, keeping her eyes on the fight as they started moving, keeping the kids a safe distance away. Lacy watched, eyes darting as soon as Billy was obviously winning, sitting on Steve and socking him repeatedly.Â
The kids were frozen in place behind her, yelling as Billy gave Steve hell. Lacy blinked, moving her legs. She refused to stay still, she refused to feel frozen, and most of all, if there was one thing she learned how to do in high school, it was how to finish a fight.Â
In an instant, Lacy shoved Billy in a headlock and gave him a right hook, twisting his nose before taking a tea kettle and smacking him in the face with it, hot water going absolutely everywhere and burning his face and Lacyâs hands and arms.Â
â--Bitch!â Billy hissed as he grabbed Lacyâs hair.Â
As Steve was unconscious, the kids watched Dustin's older sister fight and scuffle with Billy, who was at least 4 inches taller than her and stronger.Â
Lacy scratched and punched and kicked before punching him in the jaw, getting up,as Billy toppled her to the ground. She grunted as he shoved her down. She spotted her purse in the corner, quickly crawling towards it, fishing her hand inside as Billy grabbed her wrist, tossing the purse across the room and beginning to punch her.Â
Lacy blocked her face with her hands, before stabbing a needle into his neck. The one with Willâs sedative she had in her purse.Â
Billy looked at her dazed.
Lacy stood up, shoving Billy off of her, spitting blood from her gums onto the floor.Â
Max took a bat. âFrom now on, you leave me and my friends alone, do you understand?â She told her older brother.Â
âScrew you.â Billy mumbled, hands holding his head.
âSay you understand!â Max screamed at him, swinging the bat right in between his legs, narrowly missing his crown jewels. âSay it! Say it!âÂ
Billy groaned, gently dozing off. âI understand.â He mumbled before going unconscious.Â
Lacy dusted herself off as Dustin came towards her, immediately checking if she was injured.Â
Max tossed Billy's keys to the older girl. âLetâs get out of here.âÂ
Lacy caught the keys, shoving them in her pocket, Lacy propped the front door open, before grabbing Steveâs arms and dragging him. âCâmon, canât leave him like this,âÂ
The kids rushed forwards, helping Lacy by carrying Steve to the car as they all filed out of the house. âDustin, grab my purse, gasoline and an icepackâ She said, opening the car door as the kids hurled Steve in the backseat. âWe need rope, gear, shovels. Grab everything.â She said to the kids as she shoved Steveâs limbs into the car.Â
âYouâre letting us do this?â Mike asked, as they all got into the car.Â
Lacy started the engine, backing out and looking them all in the eyes. âAre you kidding? Iâll always support you freaks. Itâs a good plan, and I need to make sure none of you die in the process.âÂ
âBesides, I have a moped license.â She added smoothly, before abruptly backing into three trashcans with a crash.
âTold you she was cool,â Lucas whispered to Max, who was too busy figuring out the map in the passenger seat.Â
As they started the drive, with Lacy following most traffic rules,
 Steve began to wake up.Â
âShh, no donât touch it.â Dustin lulled to a dazed Steve. âYou put up a good fight. He kicked your ass but you put up a good fight.âÂ
Lacy snorted. âI finished it. Okay, do I make a left?â She asked Max who was giving her directions.Â
âOh my god noâ Steve groaned as he saw Lacy in the front seat.Â
âShe has a moped license!" Lucas defended.Â
âYeah cause she failed her drivers test 4 times.â Mike rolled his eyes.Â
âHey! Iâm driving ainât I?â Lacy said, running a stop sign and hitting a mailbox as she turned left.Â
As the car continued to argue, Lacy picked up the speed before stopping the car abruptly. âWeâre here! Damn, I shouldâve nailed my driver's test, stupid instructors have no idea what theyâre talking about.â She mumbled as everyone filed out.Â
They all started preparing, putting on makeshift gear and getting the gasoline. Lacy handed out weapons from her purse as Steve dizzily yelled at them. âHey! There is no chance weâre going into that hole, alright? I thought I made myself clear!â He shouted, slurring some words.Â
âShut your bitchass up.â Lacy quipped, the kids started preparing the supplies. Lacy walked up to Steve, holding his baseball bat, her tone a bit softer. âYou promised Nancy to keep them safe? Then help me keep them safe.âÂ
Steve just gritted his teeth, but grabbed the bat.Â
Steve led the way through the dark and desolate tunnel system, arguing and bickering along the way.Â
Lacy followed last, one almost-adult in the front, the other in the back. âCâmon Dustin. A little pep in your step pleaseâ She said, walking forwards with her metal pole, as her little brother stared at the ceiling.Â
Suddenly Dustin fell to the floor, screaming and calling for help. Lightning speed as Lacy dropped to the floor next to Dustin, everyone else running towards them. âWhat happened?!â
âIt got in my mouth! Some got in my mouth!â He shouted.Â
Lacy let out a sigh of relief, slapping the back of her little brother's head as the others sighed and kept moving. Lacy gave Dustin some water and pulled his face mask up higher.Â
Until they finally found the hub.Â
They all took cans, spraying the hub in gasoline, the walls, ceiling, floors. All working together to douse the hub of tunnels.Â
âLet's light this bitch up. Everyone get ready to run.â Lacy whispered, ushering the kids back as she took a lighter from her purse, flicking it up and taking a piece of paper, rolling it and, burning it until it was a large flame and tossing it into the gasoline lined pit.Â
The hub was set ablaze, screeching and hollering came from the distance as Lacy rushed the kids out.Â
âLet's go, letâs go!â Steve commanded, yelling as the two older teenagers ran behind the kids.Â
Mikeâs foot got trapped in a screeching tendon on the floor, as he screamed, Steve hit it with his bat as Lacy pulled Mike away quickly, helping him back up and running. The babysitters on their intense duty, to do whatever it took to keep the kids safe.Â
They kept running, making their way through the tunnels. Everyone began yelling as a demogorgon slowly approached. Â
Dustin slowly approached the demogorgon, despite Lacyâs frantic protests. But Dustin insisted it was Dart, feeding him a chocolate nougat bar as they all filed out of the hub, Dustin cooing at his old friend.Â
âGoodbye buddy.â He said quietly as Dart walked away with the chocolate and Dustin was ushered out by everyone else.Â
Groans and Screeching began to echo through the caves. Eerie, piercing, unnatural shrieks. âThis way!â Lacy yelled.Â
âTheyre coming after us!â Lucas warned.Â
âCmon Cmon! Hurry up!â Steve barked, helping hoisted the kids up past the rope as they climbed, barking commands at them, as everyone panicked.Â
Lacy helped, as the two designated babysitters practically threw the kids up the rope as they climbed. The growling and screeching coming closer.Â
Lacy stood guard with a spiked bat, shouting at Steve to shove her brother up the rope who was the last kid. Shadows of Demogorgans rushed up to them.Â
As Dustin was almost out of the tunnel, getting pulled to the top by everyone else the demodogs started running right at them, not enough time for either Lacy or Steve to get out.Â
So, the older teens huddled close together brandishing weapons tightly, linking arms, looking at each other briefly as the crowd of demodogs ran at them.Â
Lacy shut her eyes tightly, the two teenagers clutching onto each other, Lacy lowered her bat, turning into Steve to hide her face, shaking.Â
Until the demodogs ran right past them.Â
Lacy opened her eyes as she felt their undead, bodies whizzing past her, Steve and Lacy looking around to see them rushing past.Â
âEleven.â Mike whispered.Â
Steveâs hand left its spot, cradling Lacyâs head (which she didnât know was even there) as Lacy let out a sigh of relief, heart pounding, hands shaking.Â
âCmonâ Steve helped Lacy climb up, as she gave him a hand at the top pulling him up. The group stood around, illuminated by the car headlights, every light around them burning a bright glow.Â
She pulled Dustin in for a hug, ruffling his hair, before fixing her own and taking deep breaths.Â
Lacy had her arms around all the kids as a silence passed through the world, the glowing of headlights dimming. Shoulders relaxing as the calm rushed over the town, Lacy glanced at Steve who nodded, picking up a walkie talkie and confirming that finally, for once, everything had gone right. Â
âȘââââ â âââââȘ
Christmas carols filled the air, Lacy took pictures of Dustin, spraying him with perfume and helping him with his hairspray, that Steve swears by, coughing slightly as the fumes hit the air, helping him comb his hair.Â
âI have to go! Iâm giving Nancy a ride since weâre both volunteering. You look adorable, very handsome. Are you sure Steve is picking you up?â Lacy asked, brushing her own hair and fixing her makeup and dress.Â
âYes Iâm sure! See you there!âÂ
âSee ya!â Lacy called, already out of the room. She got on her moped and drove over to the Wheeler's house and picked up Nancy, getting down on one knee and holding out a second helmet. âWill you, Nancy Wheeler, be my date to the middle school Snow Ball?â She asked dramatically.Â
Nancy laughed, taking the helmet, giving her a hug. âOf course. I missed you.âÂ
âMissed you too. Never shouldâve gone to that stupid english program, I missed all the fun.â Lacy said, climbing onto her moped.Â
Nancy gave her a sympathetic glance. âAre you sure you donât wanna talk aboutâŠya knowâŠhim?âÂ
Lacy shook her head. She had briefly mentioned to her best friend about her breakup with her boyfriend, the true reason she came back from the program early. Just thinking about him made her skin twitch more than the demogorgons ever could. âNo, I want to serve a bunch of middle schooler's punch.â She said, driving over to Hawkins Middle School.Â
âIs the poster straight?â Lacy asked, standing on a ladder as she hung up a âSNOW BALLâ handmade poster.Â
âUh i think soâ sorry I have to help people sign inâ Nancy said, rushing to the front door. âWhat goes in the punch? Itâs already lowâ
âI have no idea. I put like four juices and sodas in there.â She called, hopping off the ladder and shooting streamers everywhere. âJohnathan! The picture booth is over there!â Lacy directed, Jonathan gave her a thumbs up, and a lingering glance at Nancy.Â
The snow ball of 1984 began, with the help from the high school students and teachers and ended at 10pm accordingly.Â
But the storyâŠis just beginning... AN: i promise it wont be a years-months long wait, i have the next chapter written already :p
Chapter Three "lead me, leave me"
The Crystal Spirit Masterlist
chapter two / chapter three / chapter four coming soon
Pairing: Zuko x Fem!OC
Summary: in which two spirits try their luck at love in the middle of a hundred year war.
______
âIroh would like you to know that the massage starts soon.âÂ
Blinking her eyes open, Satori stared up at the sky.Â
They had landed on solid ground a couple of hours ago, and despite having access to food for the first time in quite a while, Satori could not bring herself to eat.Â
In fact, she could not quite get herself to do anything, So she laid under a flowery tree, closing her eyes and begging the world to stop spinning.Â
Zuko had placed a plate of food by her quite some time ago, being told by his uncle to do so. It went untouched, and he had made several snarky comments about it earlier.Â
Satori was too exhausted to be bothered by his snark, it had been very clear that he was having a bad day, in fact yesterday was the warning sign of his temperament as he was very withdrawn and quiet the day before.Â
Petals landed around her, coating themselves in her hair.Â
Her mind was spinning, and moving and pulsing. It was too quiet, and too calm. She wanted to scream and cry but also to melt and become invisible.Â
Too many things were talking to her, too many voices, too many opinions. Her own thoughts were too loud and too quiet and just as she was about to be sucked back into the black hole of maximalism of emotion, his sharp voice cut through again.Â
âSo get up, my uncle wonât start his massage until you get over there.â He commanded.Â
Satori gently got up, swaying a bit before walking towards the masseur spot, not bothering to brush the petals off of her. The petals fell off regardless, gently untangling themselves from her hair and clothes and gently leaving her be.Â
She prayed the massage would clear her mind, but the other teenager going through it caught her attention.Â
His Uncle, retired General Iroh crouched by him. Zuko kept his head down, leaning against the wall.Â
Satori valued privacy, but she couldnât help but overhear them.Â
âItâs the anniversary, isnât it?â Iroh prompted as he sat next to his nephew.Â
Zuko looked up. âThree years ago today, I was banished. I lost it all.â He said, before taking off his hat. âI want it back.â
âI want the Avatar, I want my honor, my throne.â He continued. âI want my father not to think Iâm worthless.âÂ
Satori bristled.Â
âIâm sure he doesn't!â Iroh comforted cheerfully. âWhy would he banish you if he didnât care?âÂ
Even the masseuses gave him an odd look.Â
Zuko stood up, going on a walk around the building.Â
âThat came out wrong, didnât it?â Iroh sighed.Â
Giving him a small look of assurance, Satori nodded before getting up and thanking the masseuse before getting up and following the scarred boy.Â
She walked beside him for a while, as the two awkwardly walked around the forest. Satori picked flowers while keeping pace with him.
âWhy are you following me?â He asked pointedly.Â
Satori shrugged, but continued. âIâd hate for you to be alone.âÂ
âI want to be alone.â
âDo you? You seem to dislike it if you want your old life back.â She tilted her head, gently petting the flower petals she plucked.Â
âCan you just go away?â He snapped, fire blazing at his fingertips before he clenched his fists. âYou donât even know me!âÂ
Satori shrugged, keeping a calm, levelled head. She wasnât one to get angry or escalate a situation, nor did she have the energy to. âI sailed with you on a boat for 2 weeks, Iâve heard a lot of things.âÂ
âThatâs not the same as knowing me.âÂ
âI suppose not. So tell me about yourself.âÂ
Zuko glared at her. âI donât want you to know me.â
She picked more flowers, adding them to her bouquet, moving thorns and branches out of the way as she picked roses. âYou said it was an anniversary, whatâs that about?âÂ
She listened, picking flowers as he went on a brooding rant about how he wants everything back, and how he wants everything to go back to normal. Or rather, how they never were. He wants his father and sister to respect him, to make his mother proud.Â
âHow do you want something youâve never experienced?â Satori asked after he was finished speaking.Â
âExcuse me?âÂ
Satori wrapped her bouquet in a ribbon. âYou said your father has never respected you and want him to now. Youâve never had your fathers respect. How do you know youâll like it?âÂ
âI just will.âÂ
âWhat if you hate it?âÂ
âI wonât.âÂ
She tied the flowers in a tight bow. âHow do you know?âÂ
âCan you just be quiet?âÂ
She nodded, handing him the bouquet. âHappy Anniversary.â She smiled, before walking back and helping Iroh collect shells.Â
Zuko watched her, staring at the handpicked flowers. He sat by a nearby river, gently placing the bouquet into the stream of water and watching as it was taken away, laying down against the riverbed and dreaming of his mother.Â
âŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠ
Gently placing shells in a sack, she followed as the retired fire nation general admired the shiny mollusks, admiring the unique designs.Â
âI cannot thank you enough for letting my nephew and I on that raft back at the Water Tribe.â The old man said, dusting off seashells and handing it to the young girl. âBut I canât seem to understand why, after all we certainly are not allies to the Avatar.âÂ
Moving her hair, she took the seashell and dropped the shell into the sack she replied. âIâm not too sure, and as silly as it might sound, the spirits told me to say yes.âÂ
âItâs not silly at all my dear.â Iroh said, smiling at her before his expression took a gentler, more remorseful turn. âMy condolences for your loss, you and the princess seemed close.âÂ
She returned the smile, eyes a bit far off. âThank you. We were.â She swallowed, picking up another shell. âShe was my friend. But I understand what she had to do, and I can only hope sheâs pointing me in the right direction.âÂ
Iroh gently touched her shoulder. âI doubt she would steer you wrongly. Feel free to travel with my nephew and I for as long as you please. Iâd be honored to have a girl as kind and intune with the spirits travelling with us.â His eyes gleamed as he spotted something on Satoriâs neck. âThe White LotusâŠdo you play?âÂ
âOh no,â Satori touched one of her many necklaces, a Pai Sho tile on a string. âA kind master gave this to me during my early days of travel, as a token of thanks. Something about how if I ever needed help, this would help me one day.âÂ
Iroh nodded, understanding in his eyes. âWell, if you would ever like to learn, Iâm a big fan of playing.âÂ
Smiling, Satori nodded as the two headed back to the cabin they were staying at. âIâll keep that in mind.âÂ
âŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠ
âLook at these magnificent shells!â Iroh showed off to his nephew. âIâll enjoy these keepsakes for years to come.âÂ
âWe donât need anymore useless things!â Zuko protested. âYou forget, we have to carry everything ourselves now.âÂ
âHello BrotherâŠUncle.â A sharp voice came from the chair across from the bickering duo.Â
Zukoâs eyes narrowed as he looked at his sister. âWhat are you doing here?âÂ
Glancing around, Satori gently excused herself from the unexpected family reunion.Â
âBack in my country, we exchange pleasant hello before asking questions.â Azula commented pointedly, standing up and wading her way towards her brother. âHave you become uncivilized so soon, Zuzu?âÂ
âDonât call me that!âÂ
Iroh bowed down gently. âTo what do we owe this honor?â
Azula snapped a sea shell in her nails. âMust be a family trait. Both of you are so quick to get to the point.â She rolled her eyes. âI came with a message from home. Fatherâs changed his mind. Family is suddenly very important to him.â She told them. âHe has heard rumors of plans to overthrow him. Treacherous plots. Family are the only ones you can really trust.â
She looked to the side, at the setting sun. âFather regrets your banishment. He wants you home.â She looked back when her announcement was met with silence. âDid you hear me? You should be happy, excited, and grateful.  I just gave you great news.âÂ
Iroh tried diffusing. âIâm sure your brother simply needsââ
âDonât interrupt, Uncle!â Azula barked. âI still havenât heard a thank you. Iâm not a messenger. I didnât have to come all this way-â
âFather regrets?â Zuko looked back at his sister. âHeâŠwants me back?â
Azula scrutinized him with a look. âI can see you need time to take this in. Iâll come to call on you tomorrow. Good evening.â She excused herself.Â
Satori re-entered the home, having stood outside, listening before coming back and beginning to cook dinner for them. âWell⊠How about a meal to think the lovely news over?âÂ
They sat down, eating rice and salmon Satori had prepared with some mushrooms. Iroh made tea. It was a simple meal, but Satori hardly worried about the simplicity of the food while the argument happened around her.Â
âWeâre going home! After three long years. Itâs unbelievable.â Zuko celebrated, eating his food quickly before pacing around.Â
Satori sipped her tea and Iroh spoke. âIt is unbelievable.â The man agreed. âI have never known my brother to regret anything.âÂ
Zuko looked at his uncle. âDid you listen to Azula? Father realized how important family is. He cares about me!âÂ
âI care about you!â Iroh stood up. âAnd if Ozai wants you back, well I think it may not be for the reasons you imagine.âÂ
âYou donât know how my father feels about me. You donât know anything!â
âZukoâŠâ Iroh lowered his tone. âI only meant that in our family, things are not always what they seem.âÂ
Whipping around the teenaged boy looked at his uncle. âI think you are exactly as you seem. A lazy, mistrustful, shallow old man whoâs always been jealous of his brother.â After that spat, Zuko walked off.Â
Satori started to clean up dinner.Â
âWould you mind helping me pack, dear?â Iroh asked, gently taking out a bag.Â
âYouâre going with him?â She asked, gently placing the bowls on a table, jewelry swishing as she walked around to help him.Â
âFamily sticks together.â He said to her, and itâs also what he said to Zuko as he ran down the mountain after him, ready to board the docks with him and onto the Fire Nation ship.Â
âWeâre finally going home!â He said happily, continuing down the fleet of stairs. Iroh glared, vision laced with suspicion as he looked at the Fire Nation Ship.Â
Satori laid in a tree, directly across from the ship. Iroh had placed her there in case something were to happen. He had told her his suspicions.Â
So she sat in the treetops, fingers itching to release the arrow stretched into the bowâs string. She watched as the two boarded the ship, Azula waiting for them.Â
But even Satori could hear the booming voice of the Ship Captain from her spot.Â
âYou heard the princess! Raise the anchors! Weâre taking the prisoners home!âÂ
Azulaâs glare could kill as she narrowed her eyes at the Captain for spoiling the mission to catch and capture the travelling royals.Â
An arrow shot through the air, knocking the captain unconscious and into the ocean as Iroh attacked, starting to defend themselves from the soldiers.Â
âYou lied to me!â Zuko yelled.Â
Azula rolled her eyes. âLike Iâve never done that before.â She quipped.Â
A battle. Redirected lightning and a nicely aimed arrow sent Azula overboard as Iroh and Zuko made a run for it.Â
Satori, with her satchel, dropped down from the tree tops and ran with them.Â
They ran and they ran and they ran.Â
When they were a sizable distance away, Satori helped them cut off their royal ponytails as nicely as she could before urging them to keep walking.Â
As Satori walked behind the two new fugitives, arrows at the ready, jewelry jangling and a new bracelet on Irohâs wrist, she prayed to the spirits that she was on the right path for her.Â

chapter one // chapter two // chapter three
âDonât you ever get tired of this? I mean, it seems great and all butâŠâ Brushing Princess Yueâs hair, the Crystal Spirit had arrived at the Northern Water Tribe 3 days prior, while she enjoyed the culture that surrounded herâall the rules and traditions seemed excessive.Â
Princess Yue gave a meek smile. âIt is butâŠmore than anything, I love my peopleâeven if it means getting betrothed tomorrow.âÂ
âYouâre a braver girl than I, Yue.â Satori said earnestly. âI can hardly stay in one place for more than a couple daysâI couldnât imagine my whole life being tied to the rules of tradition.â She tied Yueâs hair in a braided bun, putting a string of crystal beads lacing through her hair.Â
Yue did her makeup, using dehydrated flowers and berries. âI am anything but brave, Satori. Not like youâŠand I still donât understand how youâre not absolutely freezing!âÂ
Satori shrugged, the only clothing she had on was her flowy small top and an asymmetrical skirt, beads flowing down from her waist to drape around the skirtâand itâs hardly like the abundance of bracelets and jewelry counted as clothes.Â
She offered her arm out for Yue to touchâbeing surprised when her skin felt warm. âI can manipulate the air around me to be warmer,â She explained, having told the princess about her airbending abilities in confidence. âSurvival tactic really,â
The two bonded like fire and ice, seemingly complete opposites due to lifestyle and yet the girlâs have insisted on having sleepovers since Satori came to the Northern Water Tribe.Â
Bells sounded throughout the castle, Yue and Satori stood up. âI suppose our guests have arrived!â Satori looked out the window.Â
âIs it really them?â Yue asked, putting an earring in and trying to look out the window as well.Â
Satori laughed, stepping aside. âWho else would make their grand entrance on a flying bison?âÂ
âŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠâąÂ·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·Â·âąâŠ
After Satori was introduced to Katara and Sokka, she wandered around the oasis Yue had shown her. Yue had turned 16 three nights prior.Â
Satori had made 3 new friends which was a groundbreaking record, as well as taking proper care of Momo and Appa, the Avatarâs close animal companions.Â
Katara, one of the Avatarâs friends, had quickly become one of the best water bending students. Satori heard all about her brother Sokka from Yue, who tried her best to ignore her fatuation for him due to her engagement.Â
Aang and Satori got to know each other better, as Aang reminisced and shared what he remembered of his airbending culture.Â
Satori retreated back to the oasis, watching the Koi fish swirl around each other in their internal dance.Â
Satori was a common guest at the northern water tribe, and by that, it means that this has been her fourth time visiting Princess Yue. The first time, she had gone with her father and she has tried to go every year since.Â
Everytime she came, she slept and stayed in the oasis. She felt so connected to the spirits and nature. She felt serene, laying on the grass of the oasis.Â
But when she looked up, dark piles of snow began to rain down softly. Offering her hand out, the pieces floated down into her hand. Swiping her hand into the mush, the snow mixed with soot smeared on her hand.Â
She got up, jewelry jangling as she ran out of the oasis, and began to join the panicked yet organised forces to fight back.Â
Satori had a lot of feelings about battle, fighting, war. The adrenaline that washed over her, the understanding and calculated force of it all, the style, the brutality.Â
But fighting thieves, bigots and vengeful loiterers in small corners and forests felt a lot different than a whole community coming together to try and survive what could become a genocide.Â
âThe day we have feared for so long, has arrived.â The king announced to the people. âThe Fire Nation is on our doorstep. It is with great sadness, I call my family here before me knowing well that some of these faces are about to vanish from our tribe.âÂ
He continued his announcement, praying to the spirit, recruiting people for dangerous missions and readying troops for their defences.Â
Satori helped rescue soldiers from the rubble during the first Fire Nation attack, while keeping a prayer to the spirits recited in her head.Â
She tried keeping a calm and determined state of mind as she looked out to the sea, watching the fleets of fire nation ships continue to approach.Â
The Water Tribe tried their best at defence with Satori and Aang. Sitting down on a pedestal, Satori used her airbending to snuff out the firebombs before they could touch Water Tribe soil, with Aang destroying the many ships on board.Â
Water Tribe Benders snuffed out the flames with ice as the castles and sculptures slowly came down.Â
The Fire Nation soldiers finally stopped firing and their ships did not dock closer. Aang and Satori came back to the palace. The Fire Nation had stopped for daybreak the second the moon rose.Â
Aang nearly collapsed the second he floated off of Appa, muttering to himself. âI canât do it. I canât do it.âÂ
And for a moment, Satori remembered that he was a child. She was a child.Â
The corners of her mind dampened and fell in on themself as it all came rushing back to her.Â
She excused herself politely as Katara comforted Aang and she paced her way back to the understanding atmosphere of the oasis.Â
She laid on her side, halfway watching the small pond. Two koi fish danced around each other. Yin and Yang. Light and Dark.Â
Trying to gather her thoughts, she tried thinking of something productive. The emptiness filled her with the sound of the waterfall behind her. Oh she was lonely, constantly surrounded by people, she gave and she gave and gave. But nobody knew her, how she was, and how empty she felt.Â
But she had no time to dwell, as she heard Aangâs giggles of joy and he bounced around the oasis, followed by Yue and Katara.Â
âApologies Satori!â Yue called, smiling as she made her way towards her. âThe Avatar must figure out how to get to the spirit world and well, this is the most spiritual place there is here.â
âOnly issue is, Iâve only gotten to the spirit world by accident,â Aang said sheepishly as he sat down on the grass.Â
Smiling, Satori sat down across from him. âYouâre in luck. Just do as I do, and let your mind find the rest.â She said, crossing her legs and straightening her back.Â
Softly, voice just over a whisper she quietly explained her process.Â
âWhy are they sitting like that?â Yue had asked.Â
âHeâs meditating, trying to cross over to the spirit world, it takes all his concentrationâ Came Kataraâs reply
âIf itâs quiet enough-â Satori said pointedly. âThe feeling of your mind opening up, being aware of every sensation, and then looking beyond it.â She explained, jewelry clinking in the wind as the two airbenders sat around the pond.Â
They sat there for a while, breathing and letting their mind think before Aang started to glow.Â
Opening her eyes, Satori smiled softly. âHeâs crossing over, it might be a while until he comes back.âÂ
âAs long as we donât move his body, weâll be okay. Heâs perfectly okay, but his body is his way back into the physical world.â Katara explained, relaxing. âHeâs my friend, Iâm perfectly capable of protecting him.âÂ
Satori bristled, feeling a presence and perking her head up. âSomeoneâs hereâ She whispered, glancing around before a wave of fire washed in front of her. She rolled out of the way, jumping to her feet.Â
âNoâŠâ Katara jumped alert, clearly recognising the guy who stalked across the bridge.Â
âYes, hand him over, and I wonât have to hurt you.â His voice projected.Â
Satori stood in front of Princess Yue, ushering her out of the oasis as Katar dealt with the guy. Once she was safely escaped, adrenaline washed over her as she ran up to fight beside Katara.Â
Katara fought with her more advanced water bending, and Satori distracted with her hand to hand combat. Kataraâs waterbending was stronger due to the moons placement in the sky, despite that she had pinned him twice, dawn was coming rapidly.Â
âYou rise with the moon, I rise with the sunâ The male firebender said, as he knocked Katara to the ground.Â
Evaluating the situation and her skillset, she was well aware she could not risk revealing her airbending or defeat with him hand-to-hand. So she sat down by the pond, and followed the guy spiritually.Â
As she sat, crystals glowing, a blurry glowing silhouette followed the body of Aang and the strange firebender into an icy cave before waiting back at the oasis for Aang to return from his spiritual meeting.Â
Aang reappeared, following the strange glowing silhouette of his fellow airbender. He followed her giggles and metallic jangles to the cave and regained his body.Â
And as Satori felt herself ground back into her body, she felt herself being thrown into the pond.Â
Her eyes flashed open, swallowing water through her nose. The water was red, everything was red and the world was blurry. She felt spirits screaming, her lungs were screaming. People were talking, arguing but all she saw was red and water.Â
She pulled herself out of the water, to see the Fire Nation Admiral, holding a cloth of a wiggling, struggling, begging fish. Behind her, Aangâs friends and in front of her, Zhao and his soldiers.Â
To her left, Retired General Iroh from the Fire Nation warned Admiral Zhao of the dangers of killing the moon spirit.Â
Thatâs when Satoriâs eyes flashed to the pond, where one fish swam sadly alone.
âWhatever you do to that spirit! I will unleash on you, tenfold!â Retired General Iroh declared. âLet it go! Now!âÂ
And Zhao gently knelt down. He put the fish back into the pond.Â
For a moment, the fish swam happily together and everything returned to the serene, peaceful blue.Â
But in a flash of flame, Satori felt her heart twist and the world went dark again.Â
The moon spirit floated to the top of the pond.Â
Retired General Iroh fought all of the Fire Nation soldiers. The ocean spirit desperately swam around the dead body, but the moon stayed dark.Â
They all sat down gently, looking at the moon spirit that lay on its side, unmoving, unbreathing.Â
Aang stepped into the pond, as the ocean spirit and him fed off of each other's grief and anger. The pool lit up, and their eyes gleamed. Aang was dunked underwater, and the waters of the tribe glowed a dark blue as they gathered into a monster.Â
The Water Tribe bowed down to the Avatar and the Moon Spirit combined, as the Fire Nation ran. The Avatar spirit ran across the tribe, banishing all Fire Nation and swallowing Admiral Zhao into the ocean, ultimately drowning.Â
The rest knelt to the pond, still mourning the moon spirit. Yueâs quiet voice echoed. âIt gave me lifeâ She told them. âMaybe I can give it back.âÂ
Satori felt dizzy.Â
âNo!â Sokka held her hand, âYou donât have to do that!âÂ
Yue sighed, shoulders relaxed with acceptance. âItâs my duty, Sokka.âÂ
âI wonât let you!âÂ
The Princess turned to Satori, who gently shedded one of her bracelets. Satori wrapped the small beads on the Princessâs wrist. âIâll be there.â Yue told Satori, who blinked quickly.Â
Squeezing Yueâs hand, Satori gave her a smile. âAnd you say you arenât brave.âÂ
Yue gently rested her hands on the fish. As the fish leaped back into the water, Yue fell back softly into Sokkaâs arms.Â
From the glowing pond, her spirit arose. Visible, and ethereal, a beaded pearl bracelet hung from her wrist.Â
She gave Sokka a kiss, before she began to disappear into the clouds.Â
Satori, who had lost another person she considered family, ran out of the oasis, no longer comforted by the spirits who resided there.Â
She slid down the icy sculptures, needing to leave. She felt the urge to run. She had been here for too long.
As she arrived near where the ice met water, wooden planks formed together for her to create a raft, she weaved the pieces together quickly.
Wiping her eyes, she heard a soft and understanding voice behind her. âI have a sailâÂ
Turning around, she saw the retired general Iroh, and with not enough energy in her heart and mind to make a coherent decision, the spirits told her to say yes. She nodded, beckoning him on board.Â
She set up the sail as more wood pieces gathered around them to form a proper boat. The man talked soothingly to Satori, the voice calming to her although she could not process what he was saying. Somehow, she agreed to let his nephew on board too, the young fire bender who had tried taking Aang.Â
She took the dried foods from her pockets and gave them to the two fire benders, as an olive branch. She laid down on the raft, on her stomach and facing the back of the raft, letting one of her hands gently dip into the waters behind them to gently push the raft.Â
She rested her eyes, the only sounds in her ears were the water, and the voice of her friend she already missed so dearly soothing her to sleep.Â
Zuko watched the oceans and the girl they had boarded with carefully, but tiredly as Iroh made with the sail.Â
âI am surprised that at this very moment you are not trying to catch the Avatarâ Iroh commented quietly.Â
âIâm tired.â His nephew said simply.Â
Iroh put a hand on his shoulder. âThen you should rest.âÂ
And he laid on the floor as Iroh tended to the sails, the spirits guiding them to land.Â

âHere, let me help.â Quickly flipping the pancakes and bacon while the dark harried boy rushed to deliver coffee to her dad.Â
It was a special day for the Dursleyâsâit was Dudleyâs birthday but more than thatâit'd be the day our story begins (Dudley should feel honored.)
While Edith hated the way her parents acted on his birthday (and occasionally Dudley) she still cared for her brotherâeven if her cousin, Harry, was more of a brother to her than Dudley would ever be.Â
Still, it was a small chance to bond with her brother since the relationship between the two Dursley siblings wasâŠstrained to say the least.Â
In their defense, it was mostly their parentâs fault for how the two had become competitive.Â
It started out when Edithâs reading comprehension passed Dudleyâs, despite him being a year older than Harry and Edith. She was showered in attention and praise.
That sparked into a new challenge for the two, trying to surpass each other in every way possible.Â
Two specific competitions drove the two apart.Â
Kindness, Compassion and Emotional Intelligence.Â
Dudley had never been one for empathy, having become a âbullyâ in their school. While the two siblings were both popular, Edith was the kind spiritâhelping younger kids find their way to classes and solving playground disputes.Â
This was especially impactful to Harry Potterâtheir orphaned cousin who had been living with them since he was a year old.Â
Maybe it was because Edith was closer in age to him, being only 2 months older while Dudley had been 14 months older. Or because Harry looked more like Edith. Or because Harry came up with Edithâs nickname, Eddie.Â
One thing was clear. Edith and Harry had a strong bond while Dudley did not.Â
Edith had a keen eye for sadness. At first it was small things when they were children like giving Harry some of her toys or holding his hand when they tried to walk so he wouldnât be left behind.Â
As they got older, her support increased. Giving Harry snacks, pillows, blankets, stuffed animals. Soon it was money she earned from her lemonade stand, notes for homework (albeit they werenât great unless they were for English) but she tried. She cut his hair so that it stayed long and fluffy but didnât get too tangled or past his eyes unlike her mother who tried unevenly buzzing it off, just for it to grow back in a matter of days.Â
And if Dudley couldnât be the best, he would be the worst.Â
Edith would spend money to fix the glasses that Dudley broke. Or cleaning up food that Dudley spilled so that Harry wouldnât have to.Â
Dudley hated English, despised it. Words werenât meant for anything more than speaking. Journaling, plays and books were all futile.
Edith loved words, writings of all sorts. Poetry was her favorite, playing with words in a way that perfectly encompassed how you felt and conveyed meaning with small detail. It was a delicate craft.Â
But there was one other thing that caused quite the rift between them.Â
Petuniaâs Love
Their mother was quite the character. Edith only heard bits and pieces about her sister, Harryâs mom but it seemed enough.Â
She cried over her, she yelled over her, she swooned over her and sometimes sheâd lull herself to sleep, pretending to say goodnight to her.Â
And sheâd call Edith by her name.Â
Iâd like to say that Petuniaâs jealousy towards Edith started after some argument between them. But that would be a lie. Instead, it started before Edith was even born.Â
Lily Potterâor rather Lily Evans was apparently the poster-perfect child. Her parents raved about the school she went to and it seemed like Petunia was left in the dust, just to be bitter.Â
So when Edith was born, Petunia was overjoyed to see that Edith had her own big blue eyes and dark hair like her father, Vernon.Â
But then Edith turned 9 months old, and what used to be brown hair had a shade of copper to it. And as Edith grew older, her hair solidified into a dark auburnâPetuniaâs ginger genes shining through ever so slightly.Â
Unfortunately, Edith was blessed with the Evans lookâhaving only inherited dark hair from her father instead of the blonde hair that Dudley and Petunia had. Otherwise, she was a spitfire between Petunia and Lilyâas if her grandparents had another child.Â
This was a horrible thing, as while Edith was very prettyâPetunia could not escape her sister, even if she had died.Â
Dudley, who was constantly showered in affection and attention because looked like his father with Petuniaâs hair and eyesâa man she loved and a woman she had grown to love too.Â
But Edith looked like Lily and Petunia. A woman Petunia hated, loved, envied and missed and the inferior sister.Â
Petuniaâs attitude towards Edith differed drastically. Either Lily was the reason Petunia looked in the mirror and sighed, or she was a sister she never got to apologize to.Â
In rebuttal to her unresolved issues with her sister, she treated her daughter similarly.Â
Either Edith was brushed off, cursed, or simply ignored like Harry or she was love bombed with flowers, money, gifts and apologies.Â
The push and pull of it all was exhausting, especially since Dudley seemed to get all her affection without a weird grieving ultimatum or any effort on his part at all.Â
And when Vernon had sexist prejudiceâhis son was always the more important one in the family, being the eldest child in their care and a boyâit seemed as though Dudley had everyone while Edith had Harry.Â
But in dear time, that would be all she needed.Â
âI want everything to be perfect for my Dudleyâs special day!!â Petunia cooed, leading him to the living room where piles of presents lie. âArenât they wonderful darling?âÂ
âHow many are there?â Dudley asked, looking over at the colorfully wrapped presents, his nasally voice projecting through the room.Â
âThirty-six.â Vernon bragged. âCounted them myself.âÂ
âThirty-six?â Dudley clarified, outraged. âBut last yearâlast year I had thirty-seven!âÂ
Edith handed him a plate of bacon and pancakes. âIf you donât want them, Iâll take âem.â She sassed, turning back around to flip the eggs.Â
Their mother doted on the boy, smoothing this hair out. âOh now, now, now, this is what weâre going to do. When we go to the zoo, you can buy two new presents!âÂ
They finished breakfast quickly, wanting to get to the zoo before the traffic started.Â
Edith went down the stairs, carrying a small brightly colored box. âDudley!â She called softly, handing him the gift with a tightlipped smile. âGift number thirty-seven.â She labeled as he took it.Â
Taking the present with grubby hands he returned the awkward smile, the two siblings stiffly hugged before getting in the car. âThanksâŠâ
She mumbled a âHappy Birthdayâ before buckling her seatbelt, waiting for her dad to stop gripping Harry by the hair outside the car.Â
She leaned over from the middle seat, opening the door from the inside and cut Vernonâs warning to Harry shortâsaying something about Dudleyâs impatience so heâd stop tugging Harryâs roots.Â
Her dad shoved Harry into the car, and Edith pulled in him before Vernon could shut the car door on him and the family went on their way to the zoo.Â
Their zoo day wasnât half badâeven Harry agreed. Edith and Harry walked around together, admiring the animals and even got their own ice creams (even though Harryâs was Dudleyâs rejected ice cream, it was still a win.)Â
But little did they know as they walked into the Reptile Houseâthis was the beginning of the rest of their livesâand itâs quite the story with bits I wrote tediously, so do try and keep up.Â
Edith looked at the snakes with awe, they were very pretty creatures that deserved to be admiredâalthough the ethics of this specific zoo were a bit questionable.Â
One snake in particular caught their attention.Â
It laid in its enclosure with a particular tiredness. Edith could practically feel the sadness radiating off of the poor thing, the will to be free only to be trapped in a glass cage.Â
Rapping his hand against the glass, Vernon commanded the snake. âMove!â As Dudley complained of the snake's lack of curiosity to see him.Â
Dudley learned from example, banging his fist with more vigor than Vernon. âMove!â He yelled louder, causing some people to look their way.Â
âWill you stop it? Heâs sleeping!â Edith pulled his hand away from the glass.Â
âHeâs boring.â Dudley mumbled distastefully, waddling off to a different enclosure.  Â
Harry looked back at the snake and began hissing at it.Â
The snake perked its head up, slithering closer to Harry. Harry continued to hiss at the snake who nodded and shook its head in response.Â
âGood god, my family is weird.â Edith said aloud before getting trampled to the side by her idiotic brother.Â
Groaning as she ate a faceful of floor, Edith propped herself back up seeing that Harry was also shoved aside by Dudley.Â
And thatâs when Harry sent a particularly spiteful glare at Dudley and the walls of the glass snake enclosure simply disappeared.Â
Dudley fell in with a splash as the snake quickly took the opportunity to slither away, nodding at Harry before booking it for the exit.
âFrom his behavior, youâd think heâs trapped in there.â Edith mumbled, annoyingly flicking her wrists to get dirt and pebbles off them. âJust get out you big oafââ Her words fell flat when the glass reappeared before her eyes.Â
Her parents ran to the cage, banging their fists against the glass and screaming as their son stood stuck in the glass enclosure.Â
With that they were ushered home, Dudley in a wrap of blankets and jackets as he sobbed. Harry was shoved into his âroom.âÂ
Petunia rushed Edith into her room, closing the door. âLily, you always mess things up!âÂ
âI didnât do anything!â Edith protested despite actively being called the wrong name.Â
Harry was similarly getting framed by Vernon, being locked in the cupboard. âI swear, one minute the glass was there and the next it was gone! It was like magic!âÂ
But of courseâ âThereâs no such thing as magic.â He barked gruffly, quickly waddling over to his darling boy to comfort him during these traumatic times.Â
And thatâs when the letters started.Â
Edith watched the first owl arrive in Privet Drive, having been sat on the roof of her house.Â
She liked talking to the stars before she slept and after the day had taken an exciting yet exhausting turnâshe hadnât the energy to go back down to her bed.Â
But you can imagine her curiosity when she awoke and saw an owl staring straight at her. An envelope with a red wax seal was in its mouth. She gently took it before going back into her room, ready to tell Harry about the weird interaction she just had.Â
She walked downstairs to Dudleyâs photoshoot for his new school, a foul smell laced the kitchen as Petunia boiled down Dudleyâs old uniform as she explained how Harry had to wear those next school year.Â
âBut theyâll fit me like elephant skin!â Harry protested, pouring Vernon coffee.Â
âTheyâll fit you just fine.â Petunia sneered before commanding him to go get the mail for the day.Â
Edith followed him to the hall. âDonât worry, HarryâYou can wear some of my black clothes. Theyâll fit you better than those, that's for sure.â
Giving a tight lipped smile, Harry picked up the letters for today. âThanks, Eddie.â
Harry sorted through the mail, as Edith remembered the letter.Â
âOh! I got the most peculiar letter today from an owl, itâs addressed to both of us.â Edith took the letter from her pocket, showing him the front of it.Â
âAn owl?â Harry clarified, walking back into the kitchen and handing people their mail.Â
Dudley shoved some eggs in his mouth. âWhat owl?â He asked, mouth full of chewed food.Â
Edith looked at him with disgust. âJust a dream I had.â She brushed off, sitting down on the couch with Harry, handing him the letter.Â
To: Mr. H Potter and Ms. E DursleyâCupboard Under the Stairs and Rooftop of 4. Privet Drive Little Whinging, SURREY.Â
Harry and Edith glanced at each other, curious as to if all posts had to be that specific with addressing. Harry began gently peeling the letter open when it was snatched out of his hands.Â
âDad! Harryâs got a letter!â Dudley shrieked, handing it to their dad laughing.Â
âShove off, itâs ours!â Edith argued, trying to reach over Dudley to take it back.Â
âOh please, whoâd be writing to you two.â Petunia scoffed, leaning over Vernonâs shoulder.Â
Harry and Edith seethed together when Petunia and Vernonâs faces went pale, staring at the stamp on the back of the envelope.Â
The next couple of days Edith and Harry spent together, either waiting on the roof together for the owls to fly by or in Harryâs cupboard, watching the letterbox like hawks.Â
Everytime, the letters ended up ripped or burned or destroyed and soon, Vernon nailed the letter box shut entirely.Â
âWhat happens when bills come in!â Edith protested, trying to pry the nails off with her fingers. âDidnât you say Aunt Marge is ill? What if her death notification comes in the mail!âÂ
But the letters were still kept from the two kids. Owls littered Privet Drive to the point where newspapers were reporting an unusual amount of owl sightings and little kids were making feather keychains to sell to their friends.Â
Vernon and Petunia even tried changing the twoâs locations in the houseâgiving Harry Dudleyâs old second bedroom and giving Edith the entire basement and still all the changed was the address on the letters.Â
Petunia spent her days clawing at her hair in frustration and blending up letters and Vernon spent his nights burning letters in the fireplace.Â
And it changed on sunday.Â
âFine day, Sunday.â Vernon smiled, happy with himself as the family sat in the living room. Harry walked around with a tray of biscuits and Edith was making Harry and her hot chocolate. âFavorite day of the week. Why is that, Dudley?âÂ
Dudley shrugged so Harry answered for him. âNo post on sundays?âÂ
âRight you are Harry! No post on sundays!â Vernon cackled to himself. âNo post on sundays!â He repeated gleefully, picking up a cookie. âNot one, bloody letter! Not one!âÂ
But as it seems, that was quite the ironic thing to say when a letter came flying out of the fireplace and knocked the biscuit right out of his hand.Â
The house rumbled and Edith was quite sure an earthquake was happening when letters began flying out of the fireplace like confetti.Â
The two cousins looked at the scene unfolding in awe before jumping into action.
The letterbox broke open, letters fell from the sky as Harry darted to catch them.Â
Edith darted for the floor, trying to grab some herself before her mom picked her up and forced her to stand, pinning her arms to her sides. âDonât you dare, Lily.â
âYouâre the one who named me woman! How can you never remember it!â Edith cried out with annoyance.Â
Harry tried to catch letters while he could only to get tackled by Vernon.Â
"We're going away!" Vernon announced, holding Harry down. "Far away! Where they can't find us!"Â
Harry squirmed from under Vernon, annoyed as he was limited from grabbing the letters due to his stance on the floor being practically maimed by his uncle.Â
"Dad has gone mad, hasn't he?" Dudley asked, horrified at the scene.Â
Petunia just shook her head, pushing Edith to the wall so she couldn't grab any of the letters either.Â
Harry and Edith's protests were heard from the whole neighborhood as they were shoved into the car. The Dursley family threw some essentials into the car and drove offâleaving the letter filled house in the distance.Â
They traveled from hotel to hotel, making small stops at gas stations but no matter where they wentâwhich hotel chain or motel chainâthe front desk always informed them of an influx of letters to an Edith Dursely and a Harry Potter
So it was time for more drastic measures. The family of Durseleys and Potters rented a boat, rowing their way to a distant run down hut on a rock. .Â
The pouring rain made their journey treacherous and when they finally got inside, they all panted and wrapped themselves in blankets.Â
Petunia and Vernon took the bed, Dudley took the couch which left Harry and Edith to lay on the floor with a blanket and jackets.Â
Edith rummaged in her pockets, grabbing a small tissue and wrapping up some coins into a little package. She tied a little ribbon on the package and drew little stars on it with an old marker that was left behind by the past renters of the hut.Â
Harry drew out a little birthday cake on the dirtied floor, writing a small birthday note to himself and checking Dudleys watch for the time.Â
Pinching some sand, Edith sprinkled it onto the 'candles' of the cake and placed her gift in front of Harry before quietly singing Happy Birthday to him.Â
Harry opened his small gift, appreciating the effort she made to get a gift despite being on a hut on a rock in the middle of nowhere.Â
It was a small little hut. Wind rattled the filthy windows and you couldnât escape the smell of seaweed. Edith wondered how much one had to pay to stay in an estate like this.Â
Dudleyâs watch beeped and Harry blew out the dust candles they had made. Edith clapped a little but was quickly interrupted by a loud bang.Â
Edith ushered Harry into a corner as the bangs got louder, louder than the lighting crashing down near them.Â
The door shook vigorously, waking up Dudley and her parents as the hinges of the door rattled for their lives. And soon, the door fell down.Â
Petunia quickly switched a light on, her husband pointing a gun at the door when an extremely tall man stood in the doorway.Â
Shaggy bushy hair almost covered his whole face, and he had hands as big as trash can lidsâwhich he promptly used to pick the door back up and try to prop it against the doorway. âSorry about that!â He said casually.Â
âI demand you leave at once sir!â Vernon squawked, pointing his gun. âYou are breaking and entering!âÂ
The giant of a man walked up to him and grabbed his gunâtwisting the metal up with his bare hands so it would shoot up at the ceiling. âDry up, Dursley, you great prune.â He snorted.Â
And thatâs when Edith let her shoulders relax, deciding she liked whoever this intruder was and figured they were probably less dangerous than her dad with a gun.Â
The man turned to Dudley with a surprised look. âMind, I havenât seen you since you was a baby, Harry but youâre a bit more along than I would have expected.â His voice was very friendly and joking. âParticularly âround the middleâ He laughed.Â
Edith walked a bit closer to the man, Harry trailing after her.Â
Dudley stumbled over his words. âI-Iâm not Harry!â He explained quickly, voice shaking.Â
Harry peeked his head from behind Edith. âI am.â He spoke up.Â
Turning around, the manâs smile got bigger. âWhy of course you are! And you must be the âittle Edith! You look strikingly similar to your aunt, Lily!â He admired the two children.Â
âSo Iâve heard.â Edith replied, still quite confused by the situation.Â
He turned around, rummaging through his jacket. âGot something for you!â He said, taking out a box. ââAfraid I mightâve sat on it on my way over but I imagine itâll taste just the same.âÂ
Harry took the box gingerly, opening it up to see a cakeâmessily coated in pink frosting with the words âHAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRYâ scrawled on top in green.Â
âBaked it myself, words and all.â Bragging, the man sat down on the moth-eaten sofa.Â
âThank you,â Harry looked up at the man with genuine gratitude, the stranger having celebrated his birthday more than his aunt and uncle combined.Â
âIsnât everyday that you turn 11 now is it?â He smiled, taking out an umbrella and pointing it at the old fireplace. A ball of fire shot out from the tip, landing in the kindle and bringing warmth into the rundown hut.Â
Harry and Edith looked at the now-lit fireplace in awe. âYou are so awesome.â Edith said, mesmerized by the flame.Â
The man chuckled as Harry put down the cake, gingerly sitting down next to him. âExcuse me, but who are you?âÂ
âRubeus Hagrid!â He introduced himself, eyes like black beetles peeking from the bushy hair. âKeeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.âÂ
Edith furrowed her eyebrows. âHogwarts?â In her mind, she questioned whether it was circus a or a farm.Â
âOf course, you two already know all about Hogwarts.â Hagrid brushed himself off, ready to move onto the next topic.Â
Harry and Edith glanced at each other, a mutual confusion. âSorryâno.â Harry blinked at the man.Â
âNo?â Hagrid repeated, confused. âBlimey, Harry. Didnât you ever wonder where your mum and dad learned it all?âÂ
âAll of what?â Harry said, a bit oblivious.Â
âYer a Wizard, Harry.â He said, eyes glimmering with mischief.Â
Harryâs eyes widened with pure confusion. âIâm a what?â
âA wizard!â He repeated. âAnd a thumping good one, Iâd wagerâonce youâve trained up a little. And if Edith is as similar to Lily as she looks, Iâd say youâre on the same path.âÂ
Edith pointed at herself, bewildered. âIâm a wizard?â
âA witch.â Petunia interrupted, correcting her daughter. âYouâre a witch.â
Twirling around, Edith looked at her mother, pointing at her and then back at Hagrid, mouth gaped open before turning back to Hagridâprocessing. âAm I going crazy?â She asked herself.Â
Harry was going through a weird state of denial as well. âI mean, noâI canât be aâŠa wizardâIâm Harry! Just Harry.âÂ
Hagrid chuckled at the two once more. âWell, just Harry. Have you ever made anything happen?â He asked. âAnything you couldnât explain when you were angry or scared?âÂ
The two kids had their share of unexplainable things.
Harryâs magical growing hair or the snake exhibit, the time where Edithâs clothes all turned blue after her mother told her it was a boy-ish color and when Harry ended up on the roof after escaping Dudleyâs taunts and bullies.Â
There was also a time where Edith woke up one day with a black eye, having wished that Vernon had punched her instead of Harry and Harryâs wound was gone.Â
Hagrid saw the realization in their eyes and pulled out an envelope. A letter Harry and Edith had been trying to get ahold of for weeks.Â
Edith leaned over Harryâs shoulder, reading aloud the contents. âDear Mr. Potter and Ms. Dursleyâwe are pleased to inform you thatâŠ.you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!âÂ
Vernon quickly waddled over to the two kids. âThey will not be going!â He announced in a hush voice, having found his audacity again after his initial shock. âWe swore when we took him in, weâd put a stop to all this rubbish!âÂ
âYou knew?â Harry exclaimed, betrayed. âYou knew this whole time and never told me?âÂ
Petunia scoffed, crossing her arms. âOf course we know. How could you not be?â She said bitterly. My perfect sister being who she wasâŠwith that Potter.â She paced around. âMy mother and father were so proud the day she got her letter. I was the only one who ever saw her for who she wasâa freak.â
Edith flinched. âAnd me? Did you know I was a witch?âÂ
Petunia practically rolled her eyes. âWe were hoping you werenât. But when you started floating instead of crawling, we were pretty confident you had taken after her. And then she got herself blown up and then we ended up with you and Harry. The two abnormal children.â
âBlown up?!â Harry yelled. âYou told me my parents died in a car crash!âÂ
âA car crash?â Hagrid repeated incredulously. âA car crash killing James and Lily Potter?âÂ
âWe had to say something.â They excused themselves.Â
âItâs an outrage! A scandal!â Hagrid shouted at them, waving his umbrella.Â
âThey will not be going.â Vernon stuck up his nose.Â
Hagrid mocked them. âOh and I suppose a great muggle like yourself is going to stop them, are you?â
A quick beat of silence as the argument fizzled out for a moment. âA muggle?â Edith questioned.Â
âNon-magic folk.â Hagrid defined before quickly jumping back into the argument. âThis boy has had his name down ever since he were born! Heâs going to the finest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world and sheâs going with him! They will be under the finest headmaster that Hogwarts has ever seen, Albus Dumbledore!âÂ
The two children beamed up at Hagrid, having someone defend them for once in their lives other than each other.Â
Face turning red, Vernon raised his voice. âI will not pay to have some crackpot old fool teach him magic tricks!âÂ
Hagrid stuck the flame-thrower-umbrella in Vernonâs face. âNever insult Albus Dumbledore in front of me.â He warned, tone harsh and dry.Â
The room went silent, the only noise heard was Dudley, snacking on Harryâs birthday cake in the corner.Â
Hagrid stuck his umbrella towards him, a beam of mist shooting out and at Dudley. A pig tail emerged from Dudleys behind, swirling around as Dudley shrieked and squawked.Â
Panicking, Vernon and Petunia started screaming as wellâchasing after Dudley as he ran around the room in circles.Â
Harry laughed as Edith smiled, covering her mouth.Â
Leaning down a little, Hagrid lowered his voice into a whisper. âIâd appreciate it if you didnât tell anyone at Hogwarts about that. Iâm not supposed to be using magic.â
They nodded feverishly, as Hagrid thanked themâtaking out a little pocket watch. âOoh, weâre a bit behind schedule. Best be off!âÂ
He headed towards the exit, looking back at the cousins who hadnât moved yet. âUnless of course youâd want to stay?âÂ
With that, Edith slipped on her shoes and walked out the door, Harry stumbling after.Â

âIs there a number so we can call your parents?â
âWhereâs all your hair?â
 âDo you have cancer?âÂ
âDid you run away?âÂ
Lacy shoved them all aside angrily as an extremely annoyed 16 year old. âShut up! She is scared and cold and you guys arenât helping!â She yelled at them, a stack of clothes in her hand. âDustin, close that window.âÂ
âHey sweetie, câmon. Youâre gonna catch a cold in those clothes.â Lacyâs voice was feathery soft, a stark difference to how she usually talked.Â
She offered a hand to Eleven who hesitantly took it and almost started changing in front of them. âCâmon, letâs not change out here, okay?âÂ
Eleven nodded, taking her hand and following her to the bathroom.Â
âThis is the bathroom down here, thereâs privacy so you can change. You can close the door soââ The girl shook her head. âNo? Do you not wanna be alone?âÂ
The girl shook her head again.Â
âThatâs okay. Are you comfortable with me helping you?â Lacy asked softly, to which the girl pulled her in the bathroom. âAlright then!âÂ
Lacy started off a warm bath for Eleven, having her put her hand in the water so she could choose the temperature. âI love hot baths too, it makes me feel cleaner.âÂ
âI donât like cold.â She said quietly.Â
âMe neither.â Lacy smiled before her smile dropped. âOh my goodness, I haven't even introduced myself yet. Iâm Lacy, whatâs your name?âÂ
âLacyâŠâ The girl mumbled before showing Lacy her wrist where a tattoo of the numbers 011 laid.Â
âEleven?âÂ
The girl nodded.Â
âWell Eleven, the idiots outside are my friends. Well kinda, the fluffy haired one is my brotherâDustin and I kinda hang out with his friends but Iâm practically their brothers too.âÂ
Eleven let out a small laugh.Â
âAlright, letâs clean you off yeah?âÂ
After a quick bath, Lacy presented Eleven with outfit options and then helped her clean any woundsâputting cartoon bandaids on them and kissing them. âMakes them heal faster.âÂ
Soon, with Eleven all clean and in dry clothes, Lacy helped Mike set up a small blanket fort in his basement. âDustin? Tell mom that Iâm gonna sleep over!âÂ
With that, Dustin and Lucas leftâMike went to his room and Lacy stayed with Eleven in her blanket fort, just making small conversation.Â
âPretty.â Eleven blurted, pointing at Lacy.Â
âThank you,â Lacy smiled. âYouâre pretty too.â
âReally?âÂ
âMhmm, very pretty.â Lacy confirmed, turning the nightlight down a little bit as Eleven yawned. âLetâs try and sleep okay?âÂ
âYes.âÂ
âGoodnight Eleven.âÂ
âNight Lacy.âÂ
It was weird, but the two had an unspoken bond. Sisterâs in another life.Â
It struck her hard when Eleven sacrificed herself later that year.Â
âȘââââ â âââââȘ
âHave I talked to the police?â Lacy asked incredulously, handing the phone back to Hopper.
Hopper repeated the question with the same infliction. âI am the police! Chief Jim Hopper!âÂ
Lacy rolled her eyes, sighing and sliding into a chair at the dining table next to her brother. âI donât think she believed us, did she?â They looked over at Hopper.Â
âWeâll see.â Hopper tried to leave them with an optimistic end but that didnât go over well with The Party and its allies.Â
ââWeâll see?ââ Mike repeated. âWe canât just sit here while those things are loose!âÂ
Hopperâs eyes hardened. âWe sit here and we wait for help.âÂ
Lacy scoffed and leaned back in her chair. âThis is ridiculous.â She rubbed her temples irritated.
âSo much for a cool return to Hawkins,â She thought, half listening to the riveting conversation between the children.Â
Adjusting her hair bow, she leaned back in her chair and twirled her hair before the mention of the âMind Flayerâ sparked her attention. She slammed the manual onto the table from her bagâflipping to the right page. âThe Mind Flayer, itâs a monster from an unknown dimensionâso ancient that it doesnât know itâs own home.â She explained.Â
âIt enslaves races or other dimensions.â The younger Henderson took over. ââTaking over their brain using highly developed psionic powers.â
âOh my god, none of this is real.â Hopper sighed. âThis is a kidâs game.â
âNo, it's a manual and itâs not for kids.â Dustin defended.Â
Lacy also stepped in. âAnd unless you know something that we donât, this is the best metaphor we haveââ
âAnalogy.âÂ
Lacy tilted her head towards Lucas, an annoyed smile plastered on her face. âAnalogy?â She repeated. âIâm sorry, I didnât realize my english terminology was more pressing than Willâs possession or the giant Demogorgons running around town.â
âSorry.âÂ
Nancy got the conversation back on the rails. âOkay so this Mind Flamer-thingââ
âFlayer, Mind Flayer.â Dustin corrected.Â
Lacy rolled her eyes. âDustin, drop it.âÂ
Nancy continued her point. ââWhat does it want?âÂ
âTo conquer us basically, it believes itâs superiorâthe master race.â Dustin replied.Â
âOh! Like the- like the germans!âÂ
Everyone turned their heads to Steve. âYou mean the Naziâs?â Dustin clarified.Â
âYeah, yeah the Naziâs.âÂ
Lacy put a sickeningly sweet smile on. âIf the Naziâs were from an entirely different dimesion, totally!âÂ
Mike also jumped in on the explanation. âIt wants to spread, take over the other dimensions.âÂ
Jumping up and down, Lucas also piped in. âWeâre talking about the destruction of our world as we know it.â
âThatâs great! Thatâs really great, jesus.â Steve mumbled, running his hand through his hair.Â
âOkay, wait but if we kill this thingâŠthe brain that controls everythingâŠâ Nancy held up Willâs old drawing.Â
âWe kill everything it controls!â Mike concluded.Â
âAnd theoretically, we win.âÂ
Hopper looked at the drawing. âRight so, how do you kill this thing? Shoot it with Fireballs or something?âÂ
Dustin laughed a little. âNo no, not fireballs. Youâd kill it with an undead army becauseâŠâ Dustin looked around at the judgy faces. âBecause uhâŠya know, it likes brainsâŠâÂ
A silence.Â
Dustin sighed. âWhat are we doing, itâs a kids game.â
âWhat the hell are we doing hereâŠâ Hopper dropped the book back on the table.Â
âI thought we were waiting for your military backup!âÂ
âWe are!â Hopper argued.Â
âAnd then what?â Mike asked him. âWhat are they gonna do? You canât exactly shoot this thing with guns.âÂ
âYou donât know that!â Hopper yelled.Â
The Party began ganging up on Hopper. âWe already know that theyâve killed everything in that lab!âÂ
âWe know the monsters are gonna molt again.â Lucas added.Â
âWe know itâs only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town.â Dustin continues.Â
âAnd you know theyâre right.â Lacy backed them up, before her eyes flickered to Joyce behind them.Â
âWe do, theyâre right.â Joyce joined the conversation, her voice trying not to waver. âWe have to kill this thing. I want to kill it.â
âI know, I know.â Hopper put a hand on Joyceâs shoulder. âBut we donât even know how.â
Lacy handed Joyce a mug of tea, pushing Hopper aside. âBut we know someone who would.â She glanced at the drugged little boy on the couch. âIf anyoneâitâs Will.âÂ
âBut I thought we couldnât trust him anymore.â Max turned to them. âThat heâs a spy for the Mindflayer.âÂ
âMaybeâŠâ Mike paused. âBut he canât spy if he doesnât know where he is.âÂ
Lacy dug around in her bag, pulling out her staple gun. âLetâs get cracking.â
âȘââââ â âââââȘ
Cleaning out the Shed, Lacy started stapling cardboard to the walls, or anything that anyone really handed to herâit got stapled to the wall.Â
She went inside to get some more staples from her bag when she overheard Max and Mike in the kitchen, taping together cardboard and searching for cleaning supplies.Â
âJust because you know the truth, doesnât mean youâre in our party.â Mike defended. âYou do know that, right?â
âYeah, I know.â Max said, pretending she wasnât too bothered. âI mean, why would you want a stupid zoomer in your party anyway?âÂ
Lacy pretended she just wandered in the kitchen, grabbing an apple. âHey Max, wanna try using the staple gun? My hands are getting tired.âÂ
âUh yeah, sure. Bye Mike.âÂ
Lacy wrapped her arm around Maxâs shoulders, walking off with her.
âHey, as the starter of their little partyâtheyâre being stupid. Mike is justâŠgoing through a lot right now, itâs not an excuse for how theyâre treating you but Iâm sure they'll come around, yeah?â
Max opened the door for them. âYeah.âÂ
âHarrington! Youâre welcome!â Lacy called, grabbing his attention, and throwing him an apple which he caught. âI donât like apples.â Lacy admitted to Max as they walked over to the shed.Â
Lacy switched the conversation again, handing her the staple gun. âAnd if they still donât let you joinâyou and I can make our own party. Iâd be happy to be friends with a stupid zoomerâwhatever the hell that meansâgod Iâm getting old.â
Max laughed, stapling a piece of cardboard to the ceiling.Â
Soon everyone was working hard to make the shed unrecognizableâtaping lights to beams, shoving tin foil on walls, gift wrap on windowsills until the room was completely padded and remodeled.Â
Most people were ushered back into the house to wait, Mike, Hopper, Jonathan and Joyce staying back to try and get something out of Will.Â
Lacy was the last one out, handing the bleach to Hopper to wake Will up. âLove yâall, good luck.âÂ
And off they went to sit in the house, to wait and wait. And wait.Â
Dustin anxiously paced around the house, Nancy leaned against a wall, Steve practiced swinging his spiked baseball bat and Max and Lucas sat on the floor together.Â
Lacy tossed a metal pipe to Max who caught it. âIn case things go sideways.â
âWhich it wonât.â Lucas added, looking at Lacy who twirled a kitchen knife.
âI hope youâre right.â Lacy admitted as the lights began violently flickering.Â
They all raced towards the window, seeing the shedâs lights flickered on and off, muffled yelling coming from the shed, but soon it all calmed down again.Â
Soon enough, Hopper came rushing into the house.Â
âWhat happened?â Lacy rushed to follow Hopper.Â
âI think heâs talking.â Hopper explained. âJust not with wordsâŠâ Hopper started to write down ditâs and dahâs on a piece of paper, mostly likely what Will had communicated.Â
âHey what is that?â Steved began to ask before quickly being shut up by everyone.Â
âMorse code!â They all answered.Â
âHere, heâs saying heâs here.â Lay translated before Hopper started himself. âWhat? Iâm the one who taught Will!âÂ
âWillâs still in there. Heâs talking to us.âÂ
Lacy was ushered into the shed with a notepad, pretending to be moral support as the group continued bringing up personal memories together as a ruse while Lacy wrote down the message on paper, translating the code in her head until Will stopped tapping the edge of his chair.Â
Discreetly nodding at Hopper, Lacy forced out crocodile tears. âIâm sorryâthis is just too much.â She sniffled, making a quick exit out of the shed to show the others the message.Â
âClose Gate.â Lacy said, slapping her notepad down on the table.Â
As they all gathered around the note, thinking a blaring ringing interrupted their thoughts.Â
The phone rang.Â
Nancy ran over, quickly hanging up the phone as someone called again.Â
Lacy took her knife and stabbed the phone until the ringing stopped, Nancy took it off the wall entirely for good measureâthrowing it on the floor.Â
âDo you think he heard that?â Max asked.Â
âI mean itâs just a phone right?â Steve looked at them. âIt could be anywhere.âÂ
Lacy shook her head, throwing him his bat. âThe demogorgons are everywhere, one of them heard that phone ring.âÂ
It was oddly inevitable, hearing the monster screeches in the distance and yet it still made her skin crawl.
The rest of them ran into the house, holding an unconscious WillâHopper throwing Nancy a gun and preparing his own.Â
Lacy tossed any weapons in her bags to the kids, giving up her knife to Dustin, grabbing the pistol she stole and handing Lucas ammo for his slingshot and Mike, a metal pipe she tore off from the wall.Â
âWhy do you carry that many weapons?âÂ
Lacy groaned in annoyance, hiding the children away from the windows and behind the teenagers and adults, loading some ammo that Hopper gave her. âAre you seriously complaining?âÂ
Her only answer was a loud demogorgon scream.Â
Monsters growled from all around them as they looked from window to window. They all waited for the moment one would pounce and the chaos of violence would start.Â
When the screeching stopped abruptly, causing Lacy to tense even more.Â
A demogorgon jumped through a window, Lacy quickly jumping back before it could hit her when before she could even shoot it deadâshe realized a live demogorgon hadn't jumped through the window.Â
Instead, a fresh corpse of one.Â
Lacy threw a book at it for good measure and when it didnât move, she kicked the head with her footâwatching it limply fall. âItâs dead.âÂ
The door handle creaked, causing them all to move their positions again, watching the door handle unlock and move from the outside, they all raised their weapons.
Lacy dropped hers immediately, almost tripping over her feet to hug Eleven, who had just walked through the door.Â
âHoly shit, youâre alive.â

Summary: in which Belle tries to get ready for a party and betrays everyone by accident.
first part / this is part two/ next part
Word Count: 1.2k
"Hey JARVIS?" Shoving an earring in, Belle sat down on the floor to lace up her heels. "How many people are already at the party?"
"I believe you are the last to arrive again, Miss Stark." JARVIS informed, Belle replying with a simple groan of annoyance.
Belle laced up her heels, tugging to get the strings around her calves. "I swear, I really tried to be on time. My hair took so long to do." Belle played with the hairdo she put up with her freshly curled locks.
Standing up (evidently taller now) she rushed around her room to spray some perfume on as she tried to reach for her phoneâwhich typically stood on her bedside table charging but was nowhere to be seen. "Goddamnit!" She sighed as she ran around the roomâher heels creating a click-y echo.
After searching the typical places, Belle finally gave up. "Hey JARVIS? Where's my phone?"
Belle kept searching before repeating her question. "JARVIS, can you please find my phone?"
Belle, now hyperaware of the robots silence stood up and walked over to a little screen by her door. "JARVIS?" She said hesitantly, touching the little pad.
The second her finger touched the screenâit filled with images of her taken by the public.
News headlines, run-ways, conferencesâthe tiny screen filled with pictures of her before going dark. "JARVIS? Are you malfunctioning?" She asked softly, touching the screen again.
Mumbling quietly to herself about how Tony overworks the poor thingâshe headed over to her small toolbox in the corner to try and fix him up.
As she started to walk over to the screen againâit flashed on, back to normal. "Did you just update or something?"
A different voice spoke from the screen. "Belle Starkâadopted daughterârelated to: Tony Stark." The unfamiliar voice announced.
Belle chuckled. "Yes, that's me. I like your new voice, JARVIS. Sounds more human. Can you find my phone now?"
The voice agreed leading her to the bathroom.
Belle hummed a thank you, opening her bathroom door. She looked over at the sink counter, where JARVIS had said she left it. "JARVIS? It's not herâ"
She looked up into the mirror, seeing a tall metal spine of a suit behind her.
Before she could say a wordâa robotic hand pressed harshly on her back as she felt her spine tugging outwards.
"Yes..." She heard the voice say. "You will be quite useful."
Squeezing her eyes in pain, she felt all her bones heat up until she felt like the world was caving in.
Her head felt like it was going to explode, metal yanking down her jaw and piercing her until she felt constrained by her skin.
Icy blood flowing around, coating her hair, staining her dress until she felt free.

"It's a very interesting theory." Thor acknowledged as he stood up, grabbing the hammer with ease. "I have a simpler oneâyou're all just not worthy."
Multiple groans emitted from the group of friends before a polite ding of the elevator.
"Oh my god," Natasha teased, rolling her eyes. "Talk about being late Belle."
The rest of the group laughed as they heard her sigh from around the corner, heels clicking as she sounded like she was coming closer.
"Let me guess...Virgin Pina Colada with those little mint leaves on top to look fancy, your highness?" Helen Cho joked, reciting the girls order as she started to make it.
The only reply was a gun shot.
A window collapsed in on itself, a bullet falling through as the gourd jumpedâclearly startled.
Belle let out a small laugh, throwing the gun on the floor and hiding behind the corner as it skidding across the floor.
She heard the clicks of guns and the swoosh of a metal shield. She grinned before carefully walking out from behind the corner. "Hola Familia!" Belle greeted loudly with a laugh.
The avengers watched horrified as their youngest member walked out covered in blood and severally limpingâmetal bones sticking out from her muscles and swinging a baseball bat.
They watched as she walked with her back leading and legs following, as if her spine was telling her where to go.
"Belle what happenedâ"
"Shhhhh!" Belle shushed anyone who tried to talk, walking around and swinging her bat against vases of flowers and glass panes. She laughed and tripped and walked on tables. "Worthy..." She mumbled amused.
Swinging her legs down, Belle sat on one of the glass covered tables. "Do you wanna know my theory?" Belle asked, swinging her bat at whoever came close to her.
The avengers looked around confused as Belle brought the conversation back to Mjolnir. "Nobody here can lift it I meanâ" Belle interrupted herself with a sharp laugh. "How could you be worthy?" She looked at them sharply.
"You're all killers."
Steve tried getting close to her, reaching his arms up to try and help her down from the table. "Belle ,what happened."
"Nuh uh-" Belle stuck out her bat, making a solid boundary between him and her. "I'm waiting for someone."
"Belle, are you drunk?" Natasha asked concerned.
"I said, I'm waiting for someone!" Belle complained childishly. "You've ruined the entire dramatic build up!" She shrieked.
"It's okay..." Another voice rang out from the other side. "I was late, it was my fault. Sorry, I was...asleep..." A janky Iron Legion suit hobbled into the room to Belle's delight. "Or in a dream?"
"Reboot, Legion OS error." Tony spoke quietly into his tablet before Belle snatched it from his hands and chucked it across the room.
"I was tangled in...strings..."
"JARVIS doesn't want to talk to you right now." Belle warned, pointing the bat at Tony's chest. "So maybe pay attention."
"Had to kill the other guy..." The buggy suit continued as her friends tried sitting Belle down while looking at the broken suit of armour. "He was a good guy..."
Steve looked at the suit incredulously. "You killed someone?"
"Would've have been my first call!" The robot admitted. "But down in the real world, we're faced with ugly choices."
"Ooh! Play the recording!" Belle clapped her hands excited.
A small jittering came from inside the janky Legion suit before playing a voice recording. "I see a suit of armour around the world." Tony's nice reiterated from the machine.
"Ultron." Bruce realised.
Realising people were piecing things together. Belle stood up again, discreetly as they were distracted by Ultron. She stood up and grabbed the gun she slid over earlier.
"In the flesh." Ultron kept drawing his speech out. "Or no, not yet. Not in this... chrysalis."
"But I'm ready," Ultron continued. "I'm on a mission." He announced.
"What mission?" Natasha asked steadily.
Ultron turned to her, and second before the walls explodedâhe told themâ"Peace in our time."
With that, Iron Legion suits came crashing down into the living room, Guns were fired, blasts of energy were propelled and a set of fairy wings extended.
As the group of agents began fighting with the suits of armourâBelle quickly flew towards the sceptre, snatching it and blowing a hole through the window with her sword.
Quickly flying through the busted window, Belle took the septre and flew into the night skyâlimbs limply following her torso as she dragged herself somewhere.
"I had strings but now I'm free...There are no strings on me....I've got no strings on me!" Belle sang dejectedly as the words she sang weren't true.
For only the stars knew the unconscious look in her eyes and how the gateway to her soul was being puppeteer-ed by a manic program who had his metallic "heart" set on endgame.

Chapter One: Steve Harrington Series
A Demogorgon ate my pet cat.

Pairing: Steve Harrington x Fem!Oc
Chapter Summary: In which we meet Lacy Henderson and where Lacy Henderson returns home.
Series Warnings: Probably gore, angst, fluff, slight grooming and domestic abuse.
âȘââââ â âââââȘ
âWhere the hell have you been, Dustin?âÂ
Lacy, probably the second most sought after girl other than Nancy Wheeler (who was surprisingly popular despite what she thought) was also the first member of âThe Partyâ a name for her little brotherâs friend group after she introduced them to a game called Dungeons and Dragons.Â
Was it surprising that the Barbarian of The Party was angry? Not really since the eldest Henderson child was known in Hawkins to look mean but she was pissed.Â
In her defense, after the most hectic sophomore year of high school filled with Demo-gorgons and a mysterious girl named Elevenâshe needed a break. She went to an English and Arts program for two months to visit her then-boyfriend, just to go through hell and break up with him.Â
So as one would expect when the girl came back from the program and told her little brother to be home by dinnerâjust for that request to be completely ignored, she was upset.
Asking around her neighbors, she found out a general area of where Dustin could be and when she saw little flashlights and tweaked into her radio systemâshe was pretty sure she found him. She drove in on her moped, ready to yell at her little brother.Â
Honestly, Lacy didnât know what to expect when she found her brother and his friends in some random junk yard after darkâmaybe alcohol, drugs or (more realistically) building a spaceshipâbut it so wasnât this.Â
âHoly shit! â Quickly revving up her moped again and running over beings that she didnât want to nameâshe grabbed whoever was stupidly out in the open and threw them into the van her brother was hiding in.Â
Lacy Henderson grabbed a piece of scrap metal and shoved it against the door asâshe hated to think about itâthe demogorgons started bashing against the van. âDustin, you are so dead.â Lacy said, out of breath. âAnd why the hell is Steve Harrington here?âÂ
âNo time to explain!â The younger Henderson replied as the van shook again. âDemogorgon on the roof!â He shrieked.Â
âI swear to god we got rid of those like a year ago!â Lacy groaned as she quickly grabbed a red-headed girl who was staring into the eyes of a Demogorgon and quickly dragged her away.Â
Steve âThe Hairâ Harrington brandished a weaponized baseball bat at the Demogorgon and they all held their breaths.Â
The world seemed to stop before the Demogorgon looked away and sprinted into the distance.Â
They carefully exited the abandoned van to see a clear coast.Â
âThink Steve scared them off?â The red-head asked as they peaked their heads out.Â
âNo,â Lucas repliedâfollowing Steve out the van. âIf anything it was Lacy.âÂ
Lacy shook her head too. âNot a chance.âÂ
âIt was being called somewhereâŠâ Steve Harringotn deduced.Â
Sighing, Lacy grabbed a spare metal pole she found and started heading in the direction the Demogorgons went. âCâmon people, we have monsters to chase and questions to ask. Such as whoâs the redhead, why is Harrington here and why are Demogorgons still here even after we blasted them to oblivion?âÂ
âȘââââ â âââââȘ
âWellâŠnow you know who we areâwho are you?â The redheadâMax asked.Â
Shining the flashlight around, Lacy answered. âDustinâs older, cooler, better, half sister on our dadâs sideâMy name is Lacy Isabella Henderson, I witnessed all this shit a year ago and I just came back from a school program. Oh Iâm also the Barbarian of our Party. Iâm a junior in highschool and freshly single.âÂ
âYou broke up with your boyfriend?â Dustin turned to her.Â
She just nodded before Steve Harrington interrupted. âDid you know about Dart?âÂ
âWho?âÂ
Dustin shuffled his feet as they kept walking. âI thought I made a super cool discovery of some new species but it was actually a baby demogorgon and I named it Dart. So far, heâs molted three times and went from the size of a lizard to the size of a german shepard in 48 hours.â He summarized.Â
Lacy blinked unfazed. âAlright thenâŠâ
They started discussing Dartâs rapid growth when Steve pointed out how âDartâ was going to start eating bigger pray than catsâdespite Dustinâs aggressive hand signals to stop talking.Â
âDart ate a cat?â Lucas asked incredulously.Â
âNo!â Dustin denied quickly.Â
âWhat are you talking about?â Steve looked around confused. âDidnât he eat Mews?âÂ
Lacyâs jaw dropped. âHe ate Mews?â She shrieked.
As arguments started to break out amongst the fiveâLucas yelling at Dustin for keeping Dart, Dustin yelling at Lucas for telling Max about the Partyâs secret and Lacy yelling at a demogorgon who probably couldnât hear her.Â
âHey guysââ Steve tried shushing Lacy who in response swatted him away angrily. âGuys!â He yelled. âListen!âÂ
The group quieted down to hear the screeching noises coming from the distance.Â
Lacy practiced swinging her metal pipe before running down the hill towards the noiseâeveryone else quickly followed behind her.Â
âGuys?â Max stood in place a bit. âWeâre supposed to be going away from the sound, not towards it!â Max protested but soon caved and started chasing after them.Â
As they marched towards the labâflashlights shined down on them from the labâs entrance.Â
âWho the hell is blinding usâfor god's sake.â Lacy mumbled to herself as they started to exit the woodsâtripping over her feet. âGod, Dustin next time, remind me to not wear heels when saving the world.âÂ
Steve turned to her, unimpressed. âCanât you take anything seriously?âÂ
Lacy pitched her voice down to mock him. âCanât you take anything seriously?â She rolled her eyes and walked in front of him. âIâm literally in mourning! A demogorgon ate my cat!â She brandished her pipe annoyed. âAnd who is shining lights in my eyes!âÂ
âSteve?â They heard a feminine voice call out.Â
âNancy?â Steve replied as they walked closer.Â
âJonathan?â Dustin called out.Â
âLacy?â Jonathan called back.Â
âWhat a reunion.â Lacy deadpanned. âWhat are you guys doing here?â She asked, confused, about why she was seeing her grademates during their hunt for monsters.Â
âWeâre looking for Mike and Will,â The older siblings responded, putting their flashlights down.Â
Lacy furrowed her eyebrows. âTheyâreâŠnot in there, are they?â Lacy pointed her flashlight over to where the monster infested lab was.Â
âWeâre not sure, why?âÂ
The universe answered their question and screams and demogorgon shrieks emitted distantly from the lab.Â
Skidding down the hill, Lacy ran into the security hut. âCâmon! We have to get them outta there!âÂ
They quickly followed after her like ducklings,Â
âWhen did you guys last see my brother?â Nancy asked as they ran down.Â
Lacy shrugged. âI got back two hours ago, Iâve only seen these guys.âÂ
Lucas also tried answering. âNot since this morningâWill had another episode yesterday andââ
âWill had another episode?â Jonathan cut in.Â
âGuys!â Nancy started to run faster down the hill. âThe powers back on!âÂ
Jonathan and Dustin ran into the security hut tooâpushing buttons and trying to digitally open the gates while the others tried physically lifting the gates.Â
After a few minutes of frustrated effortsâLacy ran into the security hut.Â
âWanna take a whack at it?â Jonathan offered.Â
Lacy nodded, cracking her knuckles as Dustin and Jonathan backed up. She took her metal pipe and started hitting the metal buttons.Â
âNotâanâactualâwhack!â Jonathan tried communicating in between her violent methods.Â
A loud buzzer sounded throughout the lab as the metal gates began to open.Â
Sighing, Lacy blew a blonde strand from her face. âSee? Works every time.âÂ
Lucas pointed at a sauntering Lacy who threw her metal pipe into a car window and climbed in to steal a small pistol. âThe Partyâs Barbarian.â He introduced.Â
The group leaped out of the way as two cars came speeding out of the now very silent lab.Â
One with the markings of the police station skidded in front of them. âGet in!â The Chief of Police yelled.Â
Lacy practically threw her brother and his friends into the carâducking in herself and pulling her classmates in before they drove to the Byerâs house.
âWhat the hell happened in there?âÂ

chapter one/ chapter two
This was the closest thing to a family reunion she was gonna getâshe had one chance.Â
She kneaded the bread gently, pretending she wasnât interested. âOh, heâs been captured? Thatâs a shame.â She said nonchalantly.Â
The baker shook his head in agreement. âTruly, I thought the Avatar could save us but I suppose people in this town have lost hope for a reason.âÂ
The baker folded some fruits into a small basket. âAre you sure this is all you want? Youâve truly been such a help.â
It was a quaint little town she was visiting. Bushels of leafy green plants laced themselves around buildings and covered rooftops
. Run down signs with letters peeling off yellowed and scratchy wood that practically beckoned splinters painted a rustic and abandoned appearance to the town.Â
Since the war, it wasnât uncommon to come across villages with similar aesthetics.Â
Smiling, she took the fruit basket from himâwaist chains swishing around, the crystals chiming. âThis is more than enough, thank you.â She gave a little bow. âOut of curiosity, have you heard who the Avatar was captured by?â
The bakerman shrugged. âIâve heard rumors about Yuyan archers but beyond that, Iâve heard nothing.âÂ
âYuyan archers huhâŠâ She shrugged and subconsciously touched her tile necklace. âIf thatâs the case, heâs surely a goner.âÂ
âSurely.â The bakerman repeated, opening the front door for her. âThank you, truly. The entire town thanks you for your assistance.âÂ
âIt was my pleasure.âÂ
âHey, whatâs your name anyways?â The bakerman turned to ask but with a swish of her crystal jewelry, she was gone.Â
The baker shook his head, smiling. âSo thatâs the crystal spiritâŠâÂ
Her eyes narrowed as she swiftly left the town, basket of fruit in hand as she ran. âYuyan archersâŠâ She mumbled, over and over again.Â
âHow does it feel to be the last airbender left?â Admiral Zhao taunted. A hurt expression fell over the Avatarâs face. âDonât worry, you wonât be killed like they were.âÂ
Two faces watched from the rafters, unaware of each otherâs presence. One masked in black and white, while the other in blue.Â
âYou see, if you die then youâll just be reincarnated, and the Fire Nation will have to start itâs search for the Avatar all over again.â Zhao explained. âSo Iâll keep you alive.âÂ
He turned his back to the avatar. âBut just barely.âÂ
The Avatar sent a gust of air his way, knocking the Admiral to the floor. âBlow all the wind you want.â Zhao hissed, annoyed. âYour situation is futile.âÂ
âAnd nobody is coming to rescue you.â Admiral Zhao slammed the door on his way out.Â
A figure dropped from the ceiling, a split mask covered her face. âHi there, Iâm here to rescue you!âÂ
She shrieked as unthawed frogs started jumping out of the Avatarâs pockets. âEw! Gross!âÂ
âHey!â The Avatar complained. âGo back to being frozen!â He demanded the frogs to no avail. After a quick beat of silence, the Avatar spoke up again. âWait, who are you?âÂ
Suddenly the door to the chamber opened, a figure masked in blue entered with two swords.Â
âWell that was my dramatic entrance ruined.â She huffed, lifting her hands upâready to fight the unwanted visitor.Â
The blue masked figure raised his swords before throwing themâcutting the Avatar loose from his shackles.Â
She rolled her eyes, unimpressed as she unlocked the remaining cuffs with a key. âThat was unnecessarily dramatic.âÂ
âThank you,â The Avatar smiled. âWho are you guys?âÂ
The two masked figures seemed to be in a stare off, trying to decipher each other's intentions before the girl stuck out her hand.Â
âNice to meet you, stranger.â She shook his hand. âThanks for stealing my thunder.âÂ
If she could see his eyes, they were probably rolling as he sighed. In a gruff voice that she doubted was real he asked âDo you have a plan out of here?âÂ
She furrowed her eyebrows. âI barely had a plan to get in here.âÂ
The blue mask sighed again, before leading them out through the door to the chamber.Â
Piles of Fire Nation soldiers littered the floors along with frogs.Â
The monochromed girl shrugged. âThatâs certainly one way to get in.â She suddenly grabbed the Avatarâs hands. âEwânoâ stop thatââ She scolded as the Avatar tried grabbing the frogs.Â
âMy friendâs need to suck on those frogs!â He called as they dragged him to an exit.Â
They crawled underneath floorboards, peeking out from loose ones.Â
The blue masked rescuer boosted the Avatar up to a ropeâprobably how he got in.Â
When the Avatar tried climbing itâsirens started ringing from inside the facility. âThe Avatar has escaped!â Someone yelled. âClose all the gates immediately!âÂ
The trio started running, the Avatar taking a lead. The Avatar blasted people out of the way of the closing gate and made a run for it.Â
The blue and black masked individuals also bolted towards it but had slight issues with the soldiers.Â
âUgh!â The girl said disgustedly as they shoved spears in her face. She rolled her eyes and started breaking their weapons with her hands.Â
The blue spirit also got held up by the soldiers, slashing around to stop the spears.Â
The Avatar looked back at his saviors, making the split second decision to run back and help them.Â
The three battled their way across until they got up to a rooftop. The Avatar clutched onto a broken spear and started twirling itâbecoming a human helicopter for the other two.Â
Spears came flying in their direction, the two at the bottom tried their best to kick and dodge them but they soon came tumbling down.Â
She tucked and rolled to the ground as they fellâquickly catching the falling boys and helping them back on their feet.Â
The three began their battle againâfighting off the hundreds of soldiers that came after them.Â
She took them down with the flick of her wristâsoldiers falling to the floor in seizures or passing out.Â
The Avatar flung people off their pedestals as they tried to climb up onto the rooftop they fell off of. He grabbed their bamboo ladders and handed them to the blue spirit.Â
âTake this!â The three start maneuvering them togetherâcreating the worldâs largest pair of stilts.Â
A fire begins to build at the end of their last stilt set by one of the soldiers. The girl attempted to snuff them out but they were soon forced to leap off from their makeshift stilts.Â
But it was all in vain as they slid down the wall once more, still stuck in the base.Â
The Blue Spirit took his swords and threatened them at the surrounding soldiers as the Avatar created a circle of wind around themâsnuffing out the flames the soldiers were throwing at them.Â
âHold your fire!â Admiral Zhao demanded. âThe Avatar must be captured alive!â He announced.Â
Her head perked up with an idea, she stuck out her hand and the Blue Spirit tossed her his swords instantly.Â
She quickly gripped the swords and laced them around the Avatarâs throat, staring Zhao in the eyes through her mask.Â
Zhao stared back, gritting his teeth. âOpen. The Gate.â He commanded.Â
âAdmiralâwhat are you doing?âÂ
âLet them out,â Zhao repeated. âNow!âÂ
The gates behind them opened and the girl inched backwards, holding the swords to the Avatarâs throat. The Blue Spirit helped guide her backwards.Â
The trio slowly backed away, and the Blue and Crystal Spirits traded places after the girl promptly tripped over a rockâspeedily switching roles and continuing to hold the Avatar at knife point.Â
A sleek arrow pierced through the air with a small THUNKâthe Blue Spirit was out cold.Â
He fell back, his head slamming against the floor and his swords drawn.Â
A horn sounded back where the Soldier Base was and the girl panicked.Â
She lifted up her arms and clouds of dust engulfed the area in front of themâcreating a thick cover for them to hide under.Â
The Avatar carefully lifted up the mask of the Blue Spiritâa gasp startled the girl as the Avatar raced back.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â She hissed, grabbing the pass out Spirit and hurling him over her shoulder.Â
âThat'sâheâsââ The Avatar stammered before quickly seeing the immense amount of soldiers coming right at them and the Avatar helped her carry the Blue Spirit.Â
They ran into the forest before ducking behind a corner. âI think air travel seems a bit more efficient, yeah?â She said, creating a spinning ball of air and jumping on it.Â
âYouâre an airbender?â The Avatar had wide eyes as he created his own air ball.
âIâm Satori! Itâs a pleasure to meet you, Avatar.â She smiled as they raced into the depths of the forest.Â
The two airbenders waited in the forest until âwho Satori discovered was the banished Prince of the Fire nationâwoke up.Â
âArenât you precious?â She squealed as she crouched down near a baby turtleduck. âWhereâs your mama?âÂ
The two airbenders ran around the forest for an hour, searching for the turtle duck's mother with no luck.Â
âWellâŠâ Satori cradled the baby turtleduck. âI guess Iâm your mama now, I guess I should give you a name huh?âÂ
Satori used her airbending to lift a cherry blossom, placing it on the turtleduckâs shell. âYour name is Sakura now, weâll be best friends.â She told the little critter. âSatori and Sakura, the unstoppable duoâŠâ
âI still canât believe youâre an airbender!â The Avatarâor rather Aang said. âHow did you survive theââ
âThe genocide?â Satori asked, weaving a small purse out of leaves. âMy family left the temples years before the fire nation invaded, itâs just luck that we were never caught or killed by nature.â She shrugged.Â
âWhy did you leave the temples, it was so peaceful there!â Aang replied.Â
Collecting some small berries, she put the little turtleduck in the leafy purse. âMy family has always had a lust for travel. We never stay in one place for too long.âÂ
âAre all your family airbenders?â Aang asked curiously.Â
She smiled, shrugging again. âI wouldnât know, I havenât seen any of them in a long while. We all go our separate ways.âÂ
âThat must be lonely.âÂ
âHopefully not for much longer.â Satori gave him a cheeky smile. âI think weâll be seeing a lot more of each other.âÂ
Aang brightened. âYou can come with me to meet my friends!âÂ
âAll in good time, I have things to take care of first.â Satori pet her new turtleduck.Â
âLike what?â
âI saw a burned village on my way to rescue you, I want to help them first.â Satori grabbed a few extra leaves and tucked them in her bag.Â
âI can helpââ
âYour friends are sick Aang, you should help them first. I promise I can find you.â Satori took off one of her many bracelets.Â
âHow can you be so sure?â He asked, worried.Â
Satori handed him the bracelet. âIâm the Crystal Spirit, Iâm amazing and itâs honestly not that difficultâboth me and scar-boy over there found you pretty easily.âÂ
Aang put the bracelet on. âIâm gonna wait until he wakes up, see you again Satori.âÂ
âSee you soon, Avatar Aang!â Satori gave a wave but when Aang blinked, she was goneâjust the chimes of her jewelry remained, lingering in the air.Â

"Angelina!" Y/n calls, running over to the Gryffindor tableâalmost tripping over her feet before placing a hand on Angelina's shoulder.
"Yes?" Angelina looked up from her conversation with the Weasley twins and smiled at her best friend. The Great Hall was bustling with noise.
Y/n panted, catching her breath as she fixed her hair. "SorryâI justâI ranâoh god I'm dyingâ" Y/n tried to catch her breath before waving her hand at the twins. "Give me a secondâcontinue your conversation..."
Angelina chuckled before turning back to George and Fred. "This is my friend, Y/n." Angelina introduced. "She's in Hufflepuff so I doubt you would've met her."
Y/n waved, stealing some of Angelina's water.
"Why haven't you invited her to some of our parties?" George asked, batting his eyes. "It would've been nice, seeing a pretty face more often."
Angelina rolled her eyes at the flirt, making space next to her for Y/n. "Yeah, I've asked her but she's not a huge fan of social events." She explained. "It's a miracle she's even in the Great Hallâwhy aren't you with Willow?"
"Oh, I wanted to know if you wanted to hang out after Divination. Turns out my detention with Professor Sprout is cancelled!" The Hufflepuff said happily, still a bit red from George's flattering.
"Hell yeah!" Angelina cheered. "I told you she loves you."
Y/n smiled. "Yeah but turning her favorite plant into a pair of heels is pushing the line."
Fred cackled. "Y/n, You did what?!"
In her head, a symphony sounded. Him just saying her name sounded like an orchestra.
Pops of warmths fidgeted around her. She had always had a crush on the Weasley, and she never really knew when it happened. She hasn't told a soul and she never would. It was justâ he always seemed so happy. She had made him happy, she made him laugh.
Y/n beamed as she explained how she had gotten too caught up with her conversation with Angelina about what shoes to wear for the Yule Ball, she had completely forgotten about the spell she was casting.
"Little Chéri's a troublemaker huh?" Fred teased, scrunching up his nose.
"ChĂ©ri?!" Angelina cackledânot a fan of pet names in the slightest.
George grumbled. "Fred has been learning French so he can impress girls."
Y/n laughed, taking a sip of Angelina's water again. "I think it's cute." She bit the tip of her thumbs, an old habit of hers.
"Ever the hopeless romantic, Y/n." Angelina commented, stealing her drink back.
The four engaged in conversation until a Slytherin tapped on Y/n's shoulder. "UhâY/n, I think I have a fitting right now." She said awkwardly, getting glares from the Gryffindors.
"Oh!" Y/n shot up, grabbing the last strawberry off of Angelina's plate before grabbing Angelina's penâsticking it behind her earâand running off, dragging the Slytherin with her.
"Hey!" Angelina protested, grumbling as she bit into her toast.
"What was that about?" Fred asked, battling Ron for the last corndog.
"Huh? OhâY/n and I are helping organise the Ball." Angelina explained, not seeing how Fred watched her run her fingers through her hair as she grabbed another pen to do her Potions Homework. "She's helping make and tailor people's outfits."
"Y/n?" Hermione clarified, popping into the conversation. "She's ridiculously talented, she made the dress I'm wearing!"
"She made adjustments on mine!" Angelina looked at Hermione. "I didn't like how bland my dress was, so she helped bedazzled it."
"Do you think she can fix Fred's dress?" George asked, earning a punch from Fred. "Ow! No seriously though, his tie is all wonky and his pants go way past his feet. Poor bloke's gonna trip!"
Angelina laughed, packing her stuff away and slinging her bag over her shoulder. "Find out yourself! I have to go check up on the Frog Choir."
Just a couple minutes later, Fred heard oddly croaky choruses from his soulmate.
âââ
Fred was trying to go the sleep that night, but all he could hear was stupid music.
When he couldn't decipher whether he was hearing it through his soulmate or if he was hearing it in the common room, he shoved his slippers on and slowly went down stairs.
As he peeked his head around the corner, he saw Angelina dancing with somebodyâa CD player in the background as they laughed.
It was the same music playing in his head...Is Angelinaâactually his soulmate?
He watched Angelina dance with her friend, practicing their dance for the ball before slowly going back upstairs.
Y/n and Angelina fell the floor in a heap, almost crying of laughter as Angelina stepped on Y/n's foot and then went crashing to the floor.
"So, are you planning on asking your mystery crush to the ball?" Angelina asked, rolling onto her stomach and popping the CD out.
Angelina didn't have a clue about her crush on one of the Weasley twins. Y/n refused to tell her, but she did give vague details about why she liked him so much.
"You think I have time for that?" Y/n questioned, brushing her hair. "Even if I did have the time to ask him, he's probably not even my soulmate."
"Who cares?" Angelina asked, exasperated.
Angelina was one of the people who couldn't hear music from their soulmate, it happened more than you'd thinkâabout as common as dyslexia.
Angelina didn't give two fucks about whether the person she was dating was her soulmate, she tended to do whatever she wanted.
"Wellâmy soulmate is pretty cool too." Y/n protested.
"Well obviously!" Angelina retorted. "They has to be good enough for our Y/n"
"Oh stop it." Y/n laughed, throwing her hairbrush at Angelina. "I won't have time to ask someone and besides, I think he likes someone else." Y/n looked down, fiddling at the edge of her pink pyjamas.
"Your soulmate or your crush?"
"Maybe both!"
âââ
Fred woke up early today, mostly because he couldn't sleep. I mean, he just found his soulmate! This is the moment that everybody waits for, and it finally happened!
Fred was utterly in love with whoever his soulmate was. The two soulmates have sang duets with each other since they could talkânever making any action to try and find each other but Fred would be lying if he said he hadn't blasted music in his ears just to see if someone in the Great Hall would react.
His soulmate was constantly listening to music and singing songs, it comforted him whenever he heard itâespecially since he's heard it since he was little.
And it was Angelina, a girl he was been trying not to crush on for ages.
Fred walked down the stairs, almost laughing when he saw Angelina.
Angelina and Y/n were completely passed out on the common room couches, paper sprawled out as they were doing a history of magic essay.
Fred shook Angelina awake. "Angie...Angie!"
Angelina fell off the bed. "What?"
Fred grinned. "I just thought you might wanna head to bed before the rest of the house wakes up."
Angelina rubbed her eyes before looking aroundâseeing essay papers, pens and her best friend, still sleeping as she sleepily held the tip of her thumb in her mouth and lulled herself asleep. "What time is it?"
"You have a little less than three hours before everybody else wakes up."
Angelina sighed, getting up and separating their papers and pens. "Hey, Fred?"
"Yeah?" He said hopefully.
"Can you do me a favour?"
Angelina handed him a messenger bag with little bows and gold chains decorating it, he took it without question as she continued.
"Do you think you could get Y/n to her common room? This is.. um This is the longest she's slept for a while and I don't know how to get into the Hufflepuff common room."
Fred thought for a momentâbut who was he to deny his soulmate? After all, getting into the Hufflepuff dorms were easyâhaving learned the ins and outs of practically the whole school.
So Fred slung the bag across his shoulder and walked over to Y/n, still sleeping peacefully.
"Thank you!" Angelina grabbed her own supplies and started going up stairs. "You're the best!" She called. "I'll get you a tailoring with her today! Is dinner alright?"
Fred nodded, slowly picked Y/n up, putting her on the couch so he could give her a piggy back ride to her common room. "Hold on..."
Almost as if her sleeping body could hear it, Y/n's body tensed up, making it easier for Fred to carry.
So Fred walked out of the Gryffindor dormitories and started walking in the halls to go to the Hufflepuff common room.
The sun had barely risen, shining dull lights into the hallway and Fred felt Y/n shift in her sleepâignoring how his skin fluttered as her breath rolled on top of it.
Fred almost stopped walking as Y/n shifted once more, making a small whimper, trying to pull her hand closer to her face.
"ChĂ©ri, if you move your hand, you're gonna fallâokay?" Fred said softly, adjusting his grip on her legs, making sure she wouldn't slip.
Y/n hummed in response, tucking her head on Fred's shoulder as he kept on walking.
Fred was halfway to the common roomâwalking slowly as to not wake up Y/n when he froze.
Having her thumb clasped between her fingers around Fred's chest, supporting her upper body weightâFred felt her head twitching, needing something to soothe her to sleep.
Not wanting to have to explain the situation to the sleeping girl or disappoint AngelinaâFred adjusted the girl, now giving her a piggy-front, letting Y/n head sit comfortably against his neck.
Fred debated checking whether his face was on fire when the sleeping girl began to press little kisses on his neck, trying to substitute something for her thumb.
Fred continued walking, but why was he so flustered?
Maybe itâs his soulmateâs best friend.
What was her name again? Y/n?
Fred knocked on the Hufflepuff dorm door in the tune of Helga Hufflepuff. Before walking in and taking the stairs to the girlâs dormitory.
Trying not to feel awkward, he searched the dorm labels until he saw it.
______________
Girls Dorm #207
- Susan Bones
- Lia Diggory
- Y/n L/n
______________
Praising Merlin that she didnât have too many roommatesâ He knocked on the door a few times, jumping up again to make sure Y/n didnât slip.
"Hello?" A small voice asked, a very tired red head opened the door.
Fred gave an award smile. "I have a delivery?"
The girl smiled before letting him in and pointing at the empty bed and messed up desk.
Feed walked over, clutching on to Y/n as he quickly flipped the blanket open and tucked her instead. Y/n immediately latched onto the blankets.
Fred smiled before looking at her deskâtons of dress designs a long with tons of reminders everywhere when a certain one caught his eyes.
The Weasley Twins Inspired Dress
Curious, he picked up the sketch to see that she managed to make a confetti canon dress, inspired by that time he and George covered the Slytherin team in confetti right before a Quidditch match against Hufflepuff.
"I think you're cute together," Susan whispered bashfully, her cheeks pink.
"Oh no," her face fell when Fred denied it. "I already found my soulmate today."
"Oh I'm sorry." Susan apologised, combing her hair. "I just thought your hânever mind." She began to point at her neck before waving it off. "I assume you know how to take care of it?"
"Yeah! I'm planning on asking her to the yule ball!" Fred said, not having any idea what Susan was talking about.
"What? Ya know whatâ" Susan dug through her make up bag before grabbing Fred's arm and swatching some concealer shades. "You're lucky, you're my winter shade." Susan tossed Fred a concealer wand before shooing him out. "Bye!"
Holding onto the concealer, extremely confused, Fred walked back to him common room before going into the bathroom.
"Shit." Fred vocalised, realising why Susan Bones has thrown him concealer.
A light hickey lay on the side of his neck where Y/n had been.
Fred spent the next two hours trying to figure out how concealer worked.
He didn't understand itâinstead opting for a scarf instead to cover up the blotchy disaster he created on his neck.
âââ
Y/n genuinely didn't question why she woke up in her bed and more concerned on her plannerâyou could see her running up and down the halls all day.
"Professor Moody, may I borrow Ron Weasley please?"
Ron showed her his suit for the ball. "Never mind, you're beyond help. Professor Moody, you can have him back." Y/n said, scribbling something out in her planner.
Taking the stairs, Y/n just started walkingâflipping to the back of her planner to edit some sketches and ideas for dressesânot noticing the stair cases changing directions.
Walking up and down and sideways along the halls, Y/n kept walking until she bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry!" She said automatically only to be shushed by two voices. "Huhâ?"
""SHH!" Y/n looked at the two Weasley twins.
"Why?" She asked, looking around to see nobody.
"I don' know," Fred admitted.
"We're skipping, so I assume we have to be quiet." George finished.
The Hufflepuff scoffed. "I'm not skipping. I did all my work in advance so I could focus of the dress making." She looked down at the planner. "And on that noteâyou have a appointment with me in two minutes. We can't be late!"
"Does that mean you have the answers?" Fred asked as he got dragged away.
"We can discuss answers after we're on time for our session."
"If it's our appointment, how can we be late?"
Y/n sighed, shaking her head. âItâs fine weâre almost there, Willowâs gonna be upset.â
âWho?â
Y/n dragged Fred near a tree where a small desk, mannequins and color swatches were, Y/n thrust Fred upon a little platform until tree branches began to swing around chaotically.
âWillow! Calm down! This isnât Ron! This is a different Weasley!â Y/n started yelling.
âWillow? As in the Whomping Willow?!â
âStop moving!â Y/n snapped, petting the branches. âWillow didnât like it when your brother nearly killed her with a car. I think she has likeâ Weasley trauma.â
Fred cackled. âWeasley trauma?â A tree branch slapped the back of his head. âHey!â
âSheâs very sensitive.â Y/n defended. âSpeaking of Ron, please tell me your suit isnât as hideous.â
âDonât worryâ I just have a normal suit⊠I wasnât sure if I shouldâve brought it so I just wore itââ
âThatâs perfect. Mind shrugging off the jacket and scarf?â
Nervously, Fred took off the scarf and jacket, revealing the concealer mess on his neck.
âOh sweetie, what the hell happened to your neck!â Y/n cooed. "Goodness, let me help you. You're gonna break out... Accio makeup kit!"
"I have every shade under the sun, I'm helping people with their makeup too." Y/n waved her hand down. "Get down, off." Y/n stepped onto the platform as Fred stepped off, facing Y/n.
Y/n took a makeup wipe and cleaned up the spot before taking out a whisk and spinning it on the hickey.
"When did you learn how to hide hickey? Does that even work?" Fred asked, watching the metal kitchen utensil.
"Oh hush, it's common knowledge." Y/n pushed his face away, continuing to whisk. "It helps the blood disperse. Next time, put ice on it before it bruises."
Shade matching and blending it in, Y/n hoped Fred couldn't hear her heart beating out of her chest as she finished hiding the red mark. "See? Like it never even happened."
Willow presented a mirror for Fred to see for himself, thank god because that scarf was very itchy.
"Now, how much are we thinking off the tie?" Y/n held up a tape measure and a sharpie, tucking the sharpie behind her ear. "It supposed to be around your belt buckle...Do you feel comfortable with it over here?"
Fred nodded, looking at her in the mirror more than him. Why hadn't he seen her more often? Has she been friends with Angelina for a long time?
"Lovely...okay do you mind if I take this?" Y/n took the colorful tie off Fred and held it up to Willow." Willow, this is Fred's tie." Willow held onto the tie.
"Okay just one second..." Y/n brought out a sheet of brown fabric and a sheet of black fabric and hopped onto the platform with him. She pulled the black one around half of his chest and the brown one around the other half.
"Okay so I think the brown is more flattering on you, I feel like you look paler with the black oneâHey!"
Fred's head started tilting to one side as he imagined Angelina and her hanging outâstill in disbelief he had actually found his soulmate.
Y/n grabbed his jaw and moved it so that it faced her. "Sorry, I just need to seeâ" Y/n furrowed her eyebrows confused as Fred pointed at something in the distance behind her.
Y/n looked behind her only for her jaw to pulled back and facing Fred, pulling the same move she had accidentally done to him. "TouchĂ©," She smiledâdesperately hoping she wasn't blushing.
"How long have you friends with Angelina?" Fred asked, snapping Y/n out of her mental freakout.
"Ohâuh, since first year. We met on the train." Y/n cast a spell to turn Fred's suit brown. "Yeah that looks betterâyou looked like you were going to a funeral."
âThen why do I never see you guys hang out?â
Y/n thinks before answering. âI like to keep myself busy, that or I just eat in the kitchen.â
âWhy not hang out with Angelina?â
âUh- Well Alicia and I donât really get along so I donât want to make it weird for Angelina. Besides, most of the time Angelina hangs out with me in the kitchen.â
So thatâs why Fred never sees Angelina in the Great hall. âWhy the kitchen?â
âBecause the house elves love me.â Y/n smiled, writing her to do list. âBesides, I like baking.â
Fred stepped off the platform and watched Y/n write. âDo you bake any of the food in the Great Hall?â
âThe brownies, but sometimes I also cook the ribs but I like baking more than cooking.â
Fred loves the brownies, he eats them every time they show up on the table.
âSpeaking of food⊠Itâs dinner, you better hurry before all the seats are taken.â Y/n starting putting things away and getting out a dress presumingly belonging to her next appointment.
Fred stepped off the small platform, checking his covered hickey once more before starting to turn around. "You aren't going to dinner?"
"Maybe later." She responded quickly, casting a spell on the dress. "Not hungry. " She said briefly. "You can pick up your tie by like tomorrow."
"Alright then, I'll see you around?"
"Sure. Angelina! Can you grab that?" A piece of fabric swirled away in the wind near an approaching Angelina.
Fred walked away, happy with his day and his fitting appointment.
(A/N lmao I have nooooo idea how to end these. Part two could be ready tomorrow or in 3 months, we'll see.)
