I talked to a monk about this quote once (we have mutual friends, and he came to a New Year’s Eve party at my shared art studio). He said this isn’t even talking about homosexuality. That the bible never actually says homosexuality is wrong. What that passage means is this:

Women were treated as subservient and it that you shouldn’t treat other men as subservient, like they are beneath you. It is not talking about homosexuality. If it was, it would say it outright since the bible lists other things outright.

I take the word of a monk who have studied the bible extensively more than a self proclaimed Christian.

The above text, I would like to point out is from the point of view of this translation of the original Hebrew. I spoke with my cousin’s rabbi on the matter and his response was different, saying that it was a mistranslation. See, the true translation says that a man shall not lie with another in the bed of a woman, which is to say, the Hebrews had a shit ton of rules about when a man was or was not allowed in a woman’s bed and private quarters (including, if she didn’t want you there, you weren’t allowed there. Hebrew women were also allowed to divorce their husbands and the image of the ‘oppressive Hebrew people’ is an image that was propogated by Christianity which, historically speaking, doesn’t treat the Jewish people too well and liked to paint them as being rather barbaric and backwards and cultish with their traditions, which, another piece of fun info, their traditions were one of the main reasons why the Jewish people were less likely, in medieval times, to die of the plague. Because washing your hands and avoiding the dead and vermin and the like was a lot of help. Of course the Christians persecuted them for not dying but that’s another matter. I’m sidetracked). So the verse is literally saying ‘Don’t fuck in some lady’s bed because that’s just goddamn rude’

Also, whenever a Christian brings the book of Leviticus up, you should feel free to point out that these are rules that were given to make the Hebrew people prepared for when the son of God came to earth. In Christianity, it’s believed the son of God was Jesus. So by following the rules set in Leviticus or pushing them as things we should follow, they’re saying that Jesus was not the son of God, and that Jesus did not, in fact, die for our sins. Jewish people believe, in their faith, that the son of God hasn’t yet been born, so many choose to follow these rules.

Most people of course roll their eyes when I explain the translation of the verse (full breakdown found here) but it’s always fun to point out the nature of the rules in Leviticus and the implications of following them.

Jesus also affirms the homosexual relationship between the Roman Centurion and his “slave”. The particular Greek word used to refer to this special slave was “pais”. Greek language studies and contexts show that a “pais” was a male love slave. Regular slaves were called “dolos”. The Centurion makes this distinction clearly when he asks Jesus to heal his slave (pais), and then to prove his status he tells Jesus that his slaves (dolos) go when he tells them to. But this slave (pais) was special. He was the Centurion’s lover.

Hearing this, Jesus was so amazed he says he had not found ANYONE ELSE who had such great faith. He then blesses the Centurion and heals his male lover.

THIS IS WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY TEACHES ABOUT SAME SEX COUPLES.

In short, the English adaptation is a mistranslated farce.

Time for a history lesson

Just remember the following:

Hitler promised to make his country strong again. Stalin vowed to restore the glory of his people. Mao Tze Tung started the “Great Leap Forward” to make China better, more efficient, and stronger. Trump promises to make America great again. Hitler believed the best way to make Germany strong again was to murder an entire ethnicity, along with the gays, roma, and anyone else who happened to cross him. Stalin instituted the Great Purge, took over the economy, and execute who knows how many farmers. Mao Tze Tung seized all the farmland, shipped the actual farmers to the cities and the cityfolk to work on the farms, and shot anyone accused of being smart and/or badmouthing his regime.  Trump wants to build a wall to protect Americans from those awful Mexican rapists, register and/or deport the Muslims, and kill the families of people he says are terrorists.

Hitler sent his prisoners to camps in other countries to be beaten, starved, and worked to death if not immediately terminated. Stalin sent his prisoners to gulags in Siberia to be beaten, starved, and worked to death if not immediately shot. Mao Tze Tung sent his prisoners to “re-education farms” to be beaten, starved, and worked to death if not immediately murdered.  Trump probably has the same general idea, the way the rest of his politics are reading. Hitler invaded half of Europe to push his master race idea. He was pretty friendly with Stalin until he decided to invade Russia. Stalin invaded the other half of Europe for the glory of communism.  Mao was too busy waging war on his own people to invade anyone else but I’m sure he would have if his army wasn’t otherwise occupied. He was also pretty chummy with Stalin Stalin is now thankfully dead but Trump is still working that Russian bromance. Hitler’s policies resulted in the massive destruction of his own country, and the starvation and death of millions of not only his own people (the Jewish ones, anyway) but those from neighboring countries. Stalin’s policies resulted in the starvation and death of millions. Mao’s policies resulted in the starvation and death of millions. We’ll have to wait and see about Trump.  I am not optimistic. Hitler had a cult following of devoted sycophants, and appealed to millions of Germans who believed in his message of superiority. Stalin had a cult following of devoted sycophants, and appealed to millions of Soviets, though it was lethal to profess otherwise. Mao was revered by his people and still is to this day. Trump appealed to enough Americans to land him in the white house, despite his message of superiority, hate, and offensiveness. Hitler controlled the media and used it as a propaganda machine. Stalin controlled the media and used it as a propaganda machine. Mao controlled the media and used it as a propaganda machine. Trump wants to control the media. Hitler was directly responsible for the deaths of over 6 million people. Stalin was directly responsible for the deaths of 35-50 million people. Mao was directly responsible for the deaths of over 70 million people. Trump has time.

Oh, and finally

No one thought Hitler would rise to power. No one thought Stalin would amount to more than a government thug. No one thought Mao would be more than a political agitator. No one thought Trump would win. 

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The Naco, serves 5-6

Remember in Kim Possible how Ron, Kim, Monique, and Rufus would hang out at Bueno Nacho and Ron would make himself the Naco? It’s the combination of a taco and nachos. To make this easy dish all you will need is:

-20oz ground meat (I used Jennie-O seasoned ground turkey) -Tortilla chips (preferably triangle shaped) -Nacho cheese (home made or store bought) -The largest tortillas you can find at your store -Chopped lettuce and tomatoes Take one large tortilla and lightly heat it, do not make it  crispy as it needs to fold up. Add a small layer of nacho cheese as your base. Then pile up the tortilla using the tortilla chips, cheese, ground meat, and lettuce/tomatoes. Then take two corners and fold them up. You can use nacho cheese to paste the two ends together, or sour cream or even guacamole. The other two sides should be gently folded up. Enjoy!
