I might come back but i’m curious how many of my followers are still around?
I mean Basicly every decade has had a plague but Aite
Well it would have to be something new cause we can cure black death now. Also its still around people get infected all the time but because we can cure it it’s not a huge issue. No our plague is gonna be some super bug that is resistant to antibiotics because people keep taking them for stupid reasons and strengthening the diseases or they don’t finish their antibiotics like they’re suppose to and even though they are immune to it the ones that survived get more resistant and spread. So yeah that’s probably gonna be the next plague.
@patdfobmcr-yt ask and ye shall receive
Idk what hes saying but i agree

5-hit fucking combo right here
We have watched this conservative political behemoth, with really no equal in conservative politics, we have watched it collapse at breathtaking speed.”
She said its legal status was that of Donald Trump’s charity: very precarious.
“The NRA appears to be very worried about a ever-widening investigation by the attorney general of the state of New York. New York’s Attorney General Letitia James subpoenaed more than 90 current and former member of the NRA’s board … If the NRA’s behavior has been bad enough New York could conceivably revoke its non-profit status and shut it down which is what the state of New York just did with Donald Trump’s charitable foundation this year.”
At any other time this would be the biggest story of the year, she said.
“This would be like a show stopping deal at any other time. The once fearsome NRA, the most powerful entity in conservative Politics, I mean they’re in free fall. Any other time in any other news environment the media would be watching that slow motion car crash endlessly.”

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said this week if it wasn't for impeachment, the collapse of the NRA would be the biggest story in American politic
Good riddance.
Good job, Parkland kids. Add the NRA to Things Millennials Are Killing.
I’m confused... why the fuck is a company about guns a charity in the first place?
because this is The Bad Place
You...you do realize that a lot of gun owners don’t like the NRA right? Cause they’re a bunch of pushovers who don’t protect gun rights like they should? Thats why they’re dying. Cause most of the time they don’t protect shit.
or alternatively:
Or simply people who want to enjoy the story instead of struggling through the damn game.
Not every game has to be accessible to every player. You can always play something else, and if you’re not interested in actually playing the game you can always look up let’s plays and walkthroughs.
Why, though? I don’t understand what anybody loses if there’s an “easy” option. Nobody is forced to play it.
It can send mixed messages about what the best way to play a game is. Most designers build their game with an idea for how the players will have the best experience. Using Dark Souls as the obvious example, the experience the designer was going for was one where you are in a world where everything can and will kill you, as well as giving players a rush of satisfaction for when they’re finally able to defeat an extremely difficult challenge. Putting in a setting that makes things easier would inherently conflict with the idea that this is a world where everything is incredibly dangerous.
The thing is, many of these games do have ways of making them easier, they’re just incorporated into the mechanics rather than an option picked from a list. Playing Dark Souls as a ranged character is as close to easy mode as you can get.
I’ve had this sitting in my drafts for some days because idk what to answer to:
It can send mixed messages about what the best way to play a game is.
I don’t even know where to start, and because it’s like 5am, I’m not going to bother. But the fact alone that you think an easy mode for people who might find the actual game too difficult for a large variety of reasons (among them, but not the only one, disability) is ‘sending mixed messages’ … I’ll call that ‘baffling’. ‘Hey, including people in the fun who might not be able to play the way I do is sending mixed messages!’
Is that really an argument you want to make?
And yet you ignore the actual point I was trying to make. Video games are art, and as an artist the creators of these games feel like adding an easy mode will detract from the artistic vision they are trying to express.
I’d also like to ask you to name 3 games not in the Souls franchise (Demon Souls, Dark Souls ½/3, and Bloodborne) that you feel are unplayable due solely to the lack of an easy mode.
The simple fact is that the only time this argument really comes up is either for games that are intentionally supposed to be some of the hardest games ever, or for people who want games to basically just be movies. I’ve never seen anyone argue that Breath of the Wild needs an “easy mode”.
Yeah, I’ve got no good argument against ‘accessibility nobody is forced to utilise and that can be completely ignored is destroying the artistic vision!!11!’, I’m just reblogging this to show it to you guys.
Well if you’re not gonna actually respond to my points I guess that means you agree with me that not every game needs to have an easy mode.
No, I disagree, I’m just not the elitist fuckface whisperer.
Easy modes cut into their bragging rights and EL33t G4m3r St4t|_|s, don’t you see. And who are they in a world where everyone can beat all the same games they can? Nobody. That’s who.
Strangely, none of those games bother to advertise, “This game is intended only to be enjoyed by able-bodied people with very fast reflexes and hundreds of hours of experience in other games. New gamers, people with low hand-eye coordination or vision problems, and players who can’t devote over a hundred hours to this game shouldn’t buy it.”
The creators’ “vision” for the game never seems to extend to “honesty in advertising.”
There ARE games with no easy mode, that nobody’s complaining about: http://www.foddy.net/2017/09/getting-over-it/
Of course, that one just says “it’s difficult specifically to annoy a certain kind of player.” There’s no claims that having hundreds of hours to put into a game makes you a better person, nor that lacking the exact right kind of hand-eye coordination makes you unfit to see the full story told in the game.
If game devs were “artists,” they’d have a “skip the boss fight” option instead of “skip the cut scenes.” It’s very obvious that they’re not interested in telling the full story embedded in the game.
Every game needs to have at least some means of accessibility.
There are video gamers out there with dyspraxia. With arthritis in their hands. With vision problems. With, heck, only one hand.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be an official easy mode, as already mentioned - some games have “easy characters” or characters that may not require moves that are difficult for a specific player. However, there needs to be more publicity of things like “Look, if you have issues with your reflexes, consider playing this character.”
Easy mode’s existence doesn’t take away your bragging rights, either…this isn’t like saying all games have to be made easier. It’s just saying that the story of the game should be accessible to people who can’t play the harder modes for whatever reason. You guys can still play on hard mode and brag about it.
It’s gatekeeping, plain and simple.
It also doesn’t say that some games shouldn’t be harder than others; of course they should, as long as they’re balanced.
And look, yes, maybe some people are going to miss out on aspects of the art, just like deaf people don’t get to appreciate parts of a movie. That’s unavoidable. But it can be made as accessible as possible.
Also, *IF* an artist’s vision for their game is predicated on, “Fuck people with disabilities,” that’s…not a vision anyone needs to respect? That’s not a vision the people helping them develop the game, or getting it into production, or those creating after-market hacks are required to adhere to in any way, shape or form. They’re allowed to have that vision; it’s not against the law for them to think a certain way. Just as we’re all allowed to say, “Screw you, we think that aspect of your vision sucks, and we’re going to fix it.”
Exactly.
Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with part of your vision being “This game is hard.” But you have to have some respect for people who can’t keep up for reasons other than dedication/time spent. If you want people to have to spend hours upon hours on your game to beat it, that’s fine. But…
I’m all for accessibility options with regards to things like Custom Keybinds, Usable Colorblind Options, Visual Representations of Sound Cues, etc. These kinds of accessibility options actually help disabled people play video games. Slapping an easy mode on Dark Souls doesn’t help someone with limited motor movement beat the game, and trying to paint it like that is inherently disingenuous.

I have become obsessed with long term nuclear waste disposal warnings
LOOK AT THE HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE PROPOSED TO WARN FUTURE CIVILIZATIONS I’M GOING TO CRY
Like this is the closest thing we’re ever gonna have to old gods I’m really losing my mind
Here’s something fascinating that I heard on either radio or a podcast a while back about the challenge of creating warnings that will still be understood after thousands of years of language and symbolism/semiotics “drift.”
This WIPP site is going to be radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years, though this panel was only responsible for keeping this place sufficiently marked for humans for the next 10,000 years—thinking beyond that timeframe was thought to be impossible.
…
The panel began by thinking about language. But language, like radioactive materials, has a half life. Beowulf, from only 1,000 years ago, is incomprehensible today.
One of my favorite concepts was combining genetically modified cats with oral tradition via folk music.
“Don’t change color, kitty. Keep your color, kitty. Stay that midnight black. The radiation that the change implies can kill, and that’s a fact.
The radiation, whatever that is, is something we don’t want, ‘cause it withers our crops and it burns our skin and it turns our livestock gaunt.
So don’t change color, little kitty. Don’t flash your eyes.
@the-last-girl-scout is this something you can draw inspiration from?
The idea of creating an “atomic priesthood” was considered in the same project that produced those images. The idea being that you essentially mythologize radiation and the danger associated with nuclear waste, and build a religion around it, with rituals, monastic orders, even PPE as holy costume to carry the knowledge about the danger far into the future. (Personally, I can already see the holes in that idea, but it’s still neat.)
The idea has been explored somewhat in the collaborative fiction project, the Fifth World, as “vulture priests”.
