big fan of the locked tomb's version of the virgin mary. her first appearance is in a hazmat suit with a gun. her name is nineteen words. god's nickname for her references evanescence. her niece has blue hair and pronouns and several guns. she stole god's sperm. after she dies she fights a popular folk hero warrior from pluto. she and her newborn baby fell from space into a cult, a bit like a comet. she was planning to sacrifice the baby to open the locked tomb and start the apocalypse and kill god. she is not a virgin, and is bisexual. her skeleton is farming snow leeks to this day.

In GtN, Gideon says that Abigail has “a hint of a necromancer build,” which probably means she’s just bigger/healthier than her necromantic peers.

This means there’s a good possibility that, in a harrow nova/general roleswap AU, Cavalier!Abigail is fucking jacked.

Also, Judith is canonically one of the healthiest necromancers, having a similar physique to Marta, so cavalier!Judith would be even more jacked.

Ianthe and Palamedes as cavaliers would probably be even taller than they are in canon. Isaac, Dulcie, Silas and Harrow as cavaliers would all be Normal Sized and Healthy, maybe even slightly muscular as well.

(Maybe it’s a good thing that canon happened as it did, I don’t think the world could handle a version of Dulcinea Septimus that could hold a sword)

And in contrast, all the current cavaliers, excepting Marta for cohort reasons and the Third for flesh magic/vanity reasons, would have necromancer builds.

someone has probably pointed this out before but the a/symmetry between gideon unknowingly using her mother as a weapon and wake knowingly birthing gideon to use as a weapon has me feeling some things

i like how, the way g1deon is described in htn, with his stringy muscular imposing body and hard unreadable face and oddly soft, pretty, fluvial green eyes, one might get the impression that his poor dead cavalier was once a softening influence. that she of the kind green eyes probably died and left him without that softness. that he is like this because she's gone, that tragic and lamentable woman with the pretty sparkling eyes. oh the horrors of lyctorhood!

and then we actually meet pyrrha.

and the narrative is just like. yeah she was also kind of a horny dickhead actually. she likes guns and ass jokes and angry sex with the leaders of enemy factions. she's jaded and cynical and manipulative and prone to selfishness. don't get me wrong, she is also capable of being soft and kind and comforting, we all love pyrrha, but she's not a better or worse person than gideon. she's just a layered and sympathetic sleaze who happens to have nice eyes.

it's so good. it's such a subtly fantastic bait and switch and i love it. i love her. i love both of them.

very funny that of all the power-imbalanced locked tomb relationships it seems like the only character who stopped and thought, maybe due to the present dynamics i should tread carefully and prevent myself from taking advantage of this person (even if unintentionally), was dulcie. bummer for palamedes who i think was very down to be treaded on.

the fact that the harrow nova universe implies that gideon is now the necromancer makes me crave a true role reversal au. like, one where everyone's roles are reversed.

just imagine. ianthe and coronabeth as cavaliers. babs as a necromancer. palamedes as a cavalier. camilla as a necromancer.

idea: alecto locked him in the tomb when she realized he had too many powers for one human to have, and had become an active threat.

now, this leaves us in a universe where....alecto is the emperor. and to be completely fair, her overall personality and demeanor fit the role of god much better than john's. which leaves us with two very different versions of mercymorn and augustine. a mercymorn and augustine who are, for one, absolutely terrified of the emperor of the nine houses, and a mercymorn and augustine who know they can't threesome their way into a betrayal. and maybe, just maybe, they're not too fond of the whole "locked our friend in a tomb on pluto for 10 000 years" thing.

as for john himself, idk man. maybe some time in the tomb would do him some good. a few thousand years to, like, y'know. think about the whole "destroyed the universe" thing. also, i just like the idea of him, at the end of the nova universe's version of ntn, walking out of the tomb and saying something stupid like "what year is it?" "10008" "damn it. my alarm didn't go off."

oh, also, pyrrha in control of g1deon for the entirety of htn, only for g1deon to emerge at the end. haven't given this idea that much thought, but i'm sure there are g1deon enthusiasts who could do it justice.
