Currently there are huge detainment camp being built in Texas for ICE. Slavery is legal in the case of prisoners. “How will we have field workers if they’re all in detainment camps?” Girl they will still be field workers, but under the thumb of for-profit prisons owners. Will elaborate further w/ but do you see what I’m saying??

Once more: if slavery is legal in the case of prisoners according to the constitution, if Texas (who has the largest amount of profit prisons) and Mississippi both have plans on building large scale detainment camps for undocumented immigrants to hold them indefinitely as per one of Trump’s executive orders, and if there is a large labor vacuum as undocumented immigrants are arrested and in hiding, what do you think is about to happen?

The insidious thing is that OF COURSE groceries are going to seem cheaper because of slave labor. Of course American produce will suddenly be cheaper because… of slave labor. But the thing is, we live in a post scarcity society, we grow and produce in excess to the point where groceries should be cheaper than they are. One peek into Rednote shows that American corn is sold for the equivalent of 90¢ a kilo in china- the same corn is sold for $7 a kilo here. It is INFURIATING that big corporations run amuck, charging more and more for “record profits” EVERY YEAR.

Anyways. I am BEGGING you to start a garden. I researched most of the information I need during work. I am going to set up a little hydroponic garden in my apartment. There are so many free resources, and I’m handy enough to put everything together myself, but you can buy the labs online. Grow veggies, herbs, and vines than you like.

And I understand there is “no ethical consumption under capitalism” but we have to, on a WIDE scale, put our money where our mouth is and boycott any produce that utilizes slave labor. This is something I already do. If I don’t have money for fair trade certified chocolate, I don’t buy chocolate, it’s not that fucking hard. Go to farmers market. Start a victory garden. Talk with neighbors and barter. Walk their dogs if they’re sick. Be kind. Be firm.

It is going to be fucking tough but we need to have each other’s backs on this. Do not give up on this country. Do not give up on your friends and family. Fight for your future. Fight for the future of the kids born today.

D&D 5e supposedly has a GM shortage and idk maybe if the player culture of the game didn't treat GMing as a thankless job and the rules of the game as an issue to be fixed by the GM maybe things would be better. Ah well, who knows. Maybe a couple hundred more "we ruined the GM's campaign on purpose" memes will make people enjoy running the game better.

How can we get more people to GM? I know! Let's share more reddit posts about "nightmare GMs" where it turns out the GM was driven to desperate action by players that were actively, willfully torturing the GM. Those are fun stories that would make anyone see how great it is to run a game!

Disclaimer: I'm not on Reddit, I found out about this through D&D YouTubers, but here's my best understanding

Someone on Reddit shared a list of rules that their DM had sent to their group - 44 rules, ranging from micromanaging to outright unhinged

If you were to take those rules in isolation, and assume that the person who posted them to Reddit was acting in good faith, then it paints a picture of an out-of-control nightmare DM who only knew how to have fun by making life miserable for the players

But some of the rules also made it impossible to take the rules in isolation and assume good faith on the part of the redditor; rules like "don't break my stuff" and "don't show up to the game so high that you can't play" don't just appear out of nowhere

So, other redditors did some digging, and it took like half a minute to find that the same person who had posted this list had also been posting for months about how he and his fellow players enjoyed making life a living hell for their DM

The actual story of the 44 Rules was that the DM canceled the game, the players tried to harass him into starting it back up again, and this list was him basically saying "no way in hell would I ever play with you guys ever again"

But unfortunately, several YouTubers didn't do the ten seconds of research it would have taken to uncover the truth, and so presented this list to their viewers as an example of "when DMs go bad"

Oh okay yeah. I read this and then some other ppl linked an archive of the list and I did some digging in the comments too and...

Apparently the player who originally posted the list expecting everyone to agree how krazyyyyy their GM was proceeded to delete the post once people started asking what the hell they had done to push their GM to that point? lmao

vampirism needs post resonates in a weird way with me, someone who's disabled, can't work and depends on others but this also means they will inevitably struggle more due to taking care of me

one very literal way I like taking vampirism sometimes is as the world's worst dietary restriction. there is no other viable food option and you will just starve if you can't feed from people, but also keeping your blood intake to a bare minimum so as not to overtax donors leaves you weak and hungry to the point where it's basically impossible to try and reciprocate in any way. it's a way to make literal that subjective feeling of needing to make oneself as small and convenient as possible for the sake of others, but with it always coming at the expense of one's ability to live and be alive.

It ain't easy making it as a TTRPG design studio when it takes a baseline amount of effort just to convince a lot of people that your profession is even real. Like, those rules and numbers, we didn't just fill the pages up with a bunch of random nonsense, we put those in the rulebook for a reason, so that following them would result in particular challenges and experiences.

Game design is real! It is possible to play a TTRPG wrong, because the TTRPG's rulebook exists solely to tell you how to play this particular TTRPG right, and in a well-designed game, that will lead to a particular experience that the authors are trying to sell you.

To help illustrate my point to anyone who might be unfamiliar with the concept of taking a TTRPG's rules at their word, I invite anyone to share their experiences where you, like, followed the rules of a TTRPG and thus had a good experience, particularly rules that you weren't so sure about, or that you definitely would not have done in your campaign unless the rulebook insisted.

I know for sure a ton of y'all have had that experience with Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy because at least once a week somebody tells us (paraphrasing) "we thought you were fucking insane for putting [this rule] in the rulebook, but we tried it out anyway, and wow it worked so well and we had such a good time!"
