Once you know the propensity for ai to use the word "quiet" you will start noticing it used in national TV news report and you will grind your teeth to dust
we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
please learn to torrent

always use qbittorrent, do not use bittorrent or utorrent.

So basically I got a supervisor job in the retail side of the well known purple DV org I've been volunteering at since last year. And when I'm at that job or going into the main centre to do admin stuff I have to dress like a grown up adult. But I also volunteer at the other shop within the org that I've volunteered at since last year for free as a side thing, where I get to just be Some Guy and hang out with my friends and not be in charge of anybody or have to Represent The Org which means I can just dress like whatever. I say all this to mention that my manager at THAT store said to me today that she is going to take a picture of me for the internal newsletter to celebrate my hiring. And I looked at her and she looked back at me and was like. Maybe tomorrow instead. Because I looked like this

Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.

My priority as an artist has always been to record and celebrate our lives. Having lived through an extraordinary time of redefinition and deconstruction of identities, from camp to gay to queer; and seeing our lives and histories marginalised every day, we all have a responsibility to speak out. To bang the tribal drums of the jungle telegraph – “I’m here, girlfriend; what’s new?” We’ve always created these languages as we’ve shaped our identities.

every fleetwood mac documentary i've ever watched is like "the band was at the height of their success, enjoying the fame rolling in from their #1 hit 'i know about the other woman, lindsey'. however, nobody could have sensed the tension brewing between members."
"the group initially disbanded immediately after the release of the single 'well get the fuck out if you're going to be like that', leaving thousands of fans shocked."
