C25K–week 6 day 2 after “warming up” with the week 3 day 3 workout.
I’m not sure if I’m pushing too hard and should take it down a notch because I’m scared my little heart will explode….lol.
Kept trying to negotiate my pace throughout but kept remembering Cate's ( @fitnessgeekandcoffeefreak ) post about Cap's ( @m0tiv8me ) challenge, so I stuck with the pace I had settled on at the start of my run. I do think I'll slow it down a bit next time though. Between the walks the runs and the warm-up and cool downs I hit 4.6 miles and I'm currently at 16K steps for the day. Not too shabby 😆
In the green today 😀 Haven't been posting consistently, but I've been consistently active 👍 Starting to set some solid goals and ready to start sharing again (broken record? Lol) Two more weeks of C25K to go (three including the one I'm on)! Today's workout was supposed to be 5 minutes warm up, 5 minutes jog, 3 minutes walk, 8 minutes jog, 3 minutes walk, 5 minutes jog. I felt pretty good during the first 5 minutes so I just kept going for 20 more. I've been doing these on a treadmill so it's a bit easier (12 minute pace). Very happy because it's the longest I've jogged in a long time and consequently the fastest I've jogged in a while 🤣. I was drenched in sweat afterwards and felt proud of myself. In other news, I joined an indoor climbing gym and it's sooooooo much fun! Can't wait to share some stuff with you guys!
This is going to be the longest cupcake explanation but IT HAS TO BE THIS WAY!!! I just finished the most amazing Fall treat. First, I made a graham cracker crust mixture and packed it into the bottom of a cupcake liner. Second, I filled the liner with a Pumpkin cake batter and baked it.
After the cupcakes cooled I scooped out a little bit of the center. I loaded my piping bag with the marshmallow cream I made yesterday and filled the center.
I added heavy cream and milk chocolate to a sauce pan and made a ganache that I drizzled over the top of the marshmallow I had piped. Then I sprinkled graham cracker crumbs over the top. I threw some big marshmallows under the broiler to toast them.
Finally, after the marshmallow was toasted enough, I placed it on top of the cupcake. Viola! Pumpkin S’more Cupcakes!!!!
Made it more than a mile for once! It was hot and humid (*feels like 90F at nearly 8pm), so waited until late in the day and was rewarded with some pretty clouds, too. I tried to get some pictures of some different birds, but they didn’t come out well, as the birds refused to sit still and cooperate. But, the clouds were very cooperative, as were the flowers, so there ya go.
-Got 6 workouts in this week. First time in who knows how long (more on this below)
-Slept a lot! I got 8.5 to 9 hours of sleep a night. I’m either catching up on sleep or need more sleep because I’m starting to work out again. Who know!
-Scale victory: the scale moved (a lot!) this week. CW:217.2 lbs (98.5 Kg) ; Last week: 220.1 lbs (99.8 Kg). I suspect a lot of this is water loss as I haven’t really been restricting my calories (though I wouldn’t know since I’m not really tracking them. I guess I should say I haven’t felt hungry at all this week).
Things to work on:
-Still haven’t been tracking my water intake
-I’m waking up at different times each day (within a two hour window), biological clock is starting to get the memo though, maybe this coming week I’ll finally get to my “target.” (BTW...have you guys been keeping up with the Nobel prize announcements? This year’s Nobel in physiology and medicine went to three “basic” researchers in biology for their discoveries on biological time-keeping/circadian rhythms (not basic as in “basic bitch”, but as in “fundamental” or “pure” researchers as opposed to applied, clinical, or transnational researchers)
-I said I wouldn’t spend too much time on my “re-start,” however I somehow managed to use up all of my free time yesterday on meal prepping. Sadly, despite spending a lot of time on this, I only managed to make mashed egg plant (sounds lame; tastes amaaaaaazing!) and roasted zucchini. Gotta somehow make the rest of my meals in about an hour today/tonight.
I did some weights this week (because I’ve been away for a while I did some kinda strange looking sets to get a feel for where I’m at).
Sunday 10-01: Back
Pull-downs: 5 sets; 8 reps each at 55-, 70-, 85-, 100-, 85-lbs
Straight back seated cable rows (close grip):6 sets; 8 reps of each at 55-, 70-, 85-, 100-, 100-, 100-lbs each
Reverse grip pull downs: 3 sets; 8 reps at 85-lbs
Dumbbell rows: 1 set 8 reps at 20 and 2 sets 8 reps at 25
Barbell curl: 3 sets; 8 reps at 35 lbs
Hammer curls 3 sets; 6 reps at 15-lbs; 8 reps at 10 lbs; 11 reps at 10 lbs
Hyperextensions: no weight; 3 sets 10 reps
I have logs of my workouts for the other days, but I just realized how ridiculous it is to transcribe everything from my phone to here for an entire week and it’s taking way too long. So I’ll just try to upload workouts on the actual day I do them, straight from my phone. (I forget about technology some times).
I’m finally getting back into meal prepping. Tonight I made Italian chicken and vegetables. I found the recipe on Pinterest and it smells great. I also have rice cooking as well. Here’s to eating healthier!
Went to Chiro and got a massage today, so far, so good on the back, it didn’t hurt it any, at least. :) I was so tired through this class, in fact, i was tired earlier in the day and actually took a nap, which I rarely do. It didn’t help, apparently. Despite yawning through most of it, I seem to have gotten a decent workout, so I’ll take it.
Gonna have to count this as my #octobermile today, since my nap precluded me from actually walking. oops.
But, this is the first time in a long time I’ve gotten over 5 days of workouts in, even if some were short, so thank you, @swimmingtofrance for suggesting the OctoberMile Challenge!
2 miles of intervals on the Dreadmill today. I worked on cake all day and then a friend stopped by to visit so I didn’t have a chance to get a workout in any earlier. Better than nothing! Dinner was kind of a scramble to pull together. I made a sweet potato taco bowl, I guess. Thank goodness for food that was prepped earlier this week.
Nice Cate! You can make anything into a taco bowl and it almost always tastes good. Yours looks tasty!
I saw a show the other day and a pastry chef said something like “4 weeks is not enough to make a wedding cake”. It made me think of you, how long can you actually work on a cake an it still be fresh and tasty? Is the four week thing, practice and testing things out and getting everything just right? (The show was set in the 1840s, maybe people ate rocks back then as long as they looked good??)
