Women are allowed inside temples, but they’re only allowed to serve the monks as nuns. They’re background characters who are kept around for cooking or cleaning. Female monks are incredibly rare to find and are not officially ordained or recognized as by Buddhist order since 1928. There is a growing number of women who are trying to change this by establishing their own temple outside of Thailand, but it gets pushback cause the men are in charge and will easily dismiss them by saying “it’s an offense to Buddha.”
