they hate you when you serve depressed bisexual simp realness
It's really important to me that y'all understand that Fiyeros last words are, "Glinda, I'm so sorry."
Thats it. "Glinda, I'm so sorry." and then the end, lights out, shows over for Fiyero.
Those are the last words he speaks alive. Those are his last words, not as a scarecrow. It is the last thing he ever says. he looks at his ex-fiancee, the only person he's been able to trust, to rely on, to love, for the last 5 years. The person he just abandoned not 24 hours earlier. The person he was abandoning again but this time so much worse.
And she's forgiving him. She's looking at him and saying you abandoned me for my best friend, and you held me at gunpoint, and I'm pretty sure you'd hate me if you could, but it's ok because I love you, and I'll always love you, and you love her, and so do I and its ok, because as long as someone loves her, then it's ok.
"He was never going to hurt me, he just loves her."
And he's about to be dragged off to his death. They both know it, even if Glinda is still pretending like she can change it. She would if she could. She'd give her life to save his. To save theirs. but she can't. And that's a rant for another day.
And instead of begging for his life, instead of screaming and pleading against the brutal death he's surely going to receive, he looks up at the only person he's had for 5 years. The woman he's loved for 5 years. The woman he so deeply betrayed. And he apologizes. Because he can't have his last act hurt her. She has to know he loves her and will always love her.
His last act hurts her anyway because his last act is being beaten to death in front of her, but there's nothing either of them can do about that but scream.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
For the gun, for leaving, for staying, for being mad, for being happy, for lying, for not loving you enough, for loving her too much, for all of it.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
And then he's dragged away. And Glinda screams and cries, and begs them to let him go. And Fiyero does none of those things. Because it's pointless and they both know it. But he's not the one who has to live with his death. She is.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
and then he's dead.
Anyway, I am sick and tired of people saying they never loved each other because they absolutely did. I don't care if you think it was romantic or platonic or familial or what. They loved each other.
And it was Fiyero's death, it was watching Fiyero's fate be exactly what she was terrified hers would be, that motivated her to finally say fuck it and go find Elphie. It was Fiyeros death that caused her to go against everything that motivated her the entire show because she already lost one of the people she cares most about, there's no way in Oz she'll lose both of them.
And then she does anyway. And Glinda Upland is alone.
So stop saying they never loved each other cause they did. It was complicated at the best of times, but they did.
They Did.
(Apologies for deferring from more solely gliyero-focused discussion. Please ignore if polyamory isn't your cup of tea)
Okaaay, putting this into the file of things that might finally persuade me to write the fanfic that's basically just a thropple/gliyeraba/gelphiyero-skewed version of act 2, because it directly addresses not one but two half-formed snippets bouncing around in my head :
1. Fiyero has spent much of those years along with Glinda desperately trying to persuade her to go with him, believing for so long that they could all be happy simply because they deserve it. He's only very recently truly accepted that he cant break Glinda from her trap. He's also apologizing for not being able to save her. But, as he's being beaten to death, he lets himself believe one last time (his very last conscious thought) that maybe his demise will be enough to do what he couldn't in life and that maybe Glinda will finally be able to go find Elphie. That maybe his girls will get to be happy together. And well, even if he's only half-right about it, it does.
2. What's especially tragic about Glinda on a literally Shakespearean level is that she's trapped by her own fatal flaw- being born to be a politician before all else and expected to perform at every moment to the extent she can't see any way out, even when it means choosing her expected path over her own happiness. But here's where it's just brutal: in the very end, she does break free. She has Madam Morrible arrested and the Wizard exiled. But the only thing that gets her there- the ONLY thing- is losing every single person and thing that would have ever given her the happiness she'd always denied herself. But she does it anyway, finally, if only for their memory. And only to be left alone for the rest of her life.
Which is to say, of course, that this would also be a shameless fix-it that then goes on past the finale to have Glinda find some scrap of a sign they might be alive and think "Fuck it, I have nothing left to live for anyway. If I die looking for their bodies, so be it." And strike off into the woods and stumble upon their abode because this is going to be unapologetically idealistic and also will turn Fiyero human again because, speaking of Shakespearean tragedy, a man whose spent his whole life being lonely has also been doomed, if we take Elphaba's spell literally, to immortality, which will leave him alone for eternity after she dies. But that's a whole separate rant, so-
ALSO also, I'm reminded of my recent obsession with these lyrics from "Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler on the Roof when as applied to Glinda and Fiyero:
For 25 years, I've lived with him, fought with him, starved with him. For 25 years, my bed is is (Shh!)- if that's not love, what is?
Because, sure, it wasn't 25 years, but still- they survived together. Platonic or romantic, they worked for the love they needed from each other every day. Personally, I think they each have a more typical "love story" with Elphaba (and she with each of them), but they are soul mates to each other, too- because they worked for it.
The social-media platform’s status as a relic of the Internet has attracted prodigal users as well as new ones.
positive press? for tumblr???? my gd.......

Am I the only one who wants Temperance to injure Ryan or something else happens to him and it leads to Nancy crying out "Dad!" and she wants to run to him but Ace pulls her away to safety.
Okay, so there’s just something about the way this show does angst and the slow buildup or Nancy and Ryan’s care for each other that makes me think there’s a very nonzero possibility that they’re going to give us Nancy calling Ryan “dad” fort he first time in the most heartbreaking way possible and Kennedy made those comments about the finale and what if Ryan is attacked (OR SACRIFICES HIMSELF TO SAVE NANCY) and-
I’m just desperately telling myself that except for Owen and the deaths that happen before season 1 (Kate, Lucy, etc.), this isn’t really a “major character death” kind of show and they can pull another George and save him while still giving us A. the gutpunch of Ryan hearing Nancy call him “dad” and smiling as he thinks it’s the last thing he’ll ever hear B. the catharsis and so much more of Ace pulling Nancy away as Ryan “dies” and comforting her AND C. Ryan actually being alive via magic or whatever and being soft and emotional about Nancy calling him Dad while Ace just watches them and smiles fondly and-
(I have an entire separate rant about the idea of killing Ryan off after his redemption arc, which is one of the best I’ve ever seen on TV and why show people that someone can really, truly change and then just kill them off? Like obviously Ryan will never totally make up for things like sleeping with George but he’s genuinely a completely different person now and take that from someone who side-eyed him well into season two and now loves him like a pig loves shit. But you know. That’s beside the point.)
All Rise Season 3
The canceled CBS legal drama starring Simone Missick has officially been revived for a 20-episode third season by OWN.
Additionally, HBO Max and Hulu will share streaming rights to the series. The show will debut on both platforms on Dec. 1.
Season three will return in 2022, with the WarnerMedia- and Disney-backed streamers landing those episodes after the season ends.
OWN will also air seasons one and two of the series before the third run debuts.
[the hollywood reporter]
‘All Rise’ Eyes Comeback With Season 3 Pickup By OWN After CBS Cancellation
Sources close to the situation caution that the conversations, while progressing, are complex and have not reached the final stage yet.
[deadline]
Hi, I wanted to ask you if you think that we can still do something to save All Rise. Is there any chance that another network will renew it for at least one more season?
There’s the change.org petition i reblogged. [post]. Marg Helgenberger (Benner) signed it so the cast want it back too!
We can also be vocal on social media about our support for the cast and crew, particularly this week and next, and let them know how much the show and their characters have meant to us.
And if you are able to watch live and tweet along with them for next week’s finale we can try and get the end of s2 trending.
It’s been a year of good shows getting canceled so I have no idea if any of it will work. But we won’t know if we don’t try, right?
I think the likeliest targets for pickup would be BET (which has already aired the show) and maybe OWN too, idk.
CBS never really gave the show a chance under the new showrunner, Dee Harris-Lawrence, when they had so many important stories left to tell, from voices that need to be heard.
yeah there’s a lot of work we still need to do but i am literally begging y’all to let people celebrate. let us just have one day of happiness before we return to the grime truth of reality
Defeating an incumbent president is hard. Getting people to participate in politics when it’s just been hopeless chaos and noise for the last four years is hard. Getting out the vote when you can’t campaign door-to-door and relying on a newly widespread voting form across the country instead of in-person voting is hard. Voting when an entire political party in the country has committed themselves to making it difficult or impossible for certain groups to vote is hard. Defeating a president who has an entire propaganda media machine behind him with no obligation to the truth or decency is hard.
All the caveats apply - it was closer than it should have been, this win is not joe biden’s but the hundreds of thousands of grassroots organizers who worked tirelesly, there is still work to be done on the georgia senate race run offs, joe biden being a democrat doesn’t mean he is perfect nor exempt from criticism, etc etc etc etc.
But this victory is a BIG FUCKING DEAL. And it’s NOT A GIVEN. People across this country worked very, very, very hard for today. Our problems will not all be fixed tomorrow, or when biden is sworn in in january - but the united states of america is a brighter, safer place today than it was yesterday or the day before. This is a big fucking deal. And we should be allowed to take a moment to BREATHE and experience it.
The screaming, emotional, unbridled release of joy in cities across the nation. The shared celebrations across the world. Many pundits have said this is what it’s like when dictators fall. Which...yeah.
The next two and a half months are going to be a lot. The legal challenges will hold no merit, but we may well still have to fight at least some. Worst still are what Trump followers will do, knowing the loss of their leader is imminent. Is there any doubt they will turn to violence? They already have. Be careful, be vigilant, be safe. The holidays will feel better than ever this year, but watch yourself everywhere you go. (Also try not to go many places, because you know, worldwide plague.)
And after that? We fight for those last two Senate seats in Georgia. They could make a huge difference. With them, we can do so much. Without them, every moment of progress will be a struggle.
And no matter what, we have hundreds of years of racism, sexism, and so much more to reckon with. No matter what, Trump’s followers will be here for a long, long time, and it’s so sobering that their numbers have grown, not shrunk. We must unify, but only among those comitted to truth, justice, kindness, dignity, and equity. We can’t ignore the threat that exists in so many people. The people who saved this country are also the ones who’ve been most abused by it throughout its history.
But celebrate. And remember the celebrations. They’ll help when we’re fighting the backlash and when we’re feeling depressed, thinking the wins should be easier. Because this is what it’s like- no, this is what happens when dictators fall.
You can replace things.
You can’t replace a life.

ways to help protestors if you are unable to protest
everybody has to do their part. as a reference, this was posted on 1 june 2020. if any links are broken or direct to a place they should not, please feel free to add on with corrections. if there is new information with better knowledge, please feel free to share. thank you.
1. donate
do not donate to shaun king. he has repeatedly collected money to “support” black people, but no one knows where the money is.
BAIL FUNDS (ALPHABETICAL ORDER; NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST)
note: washington dc and new jersey have cashless bail systems.

los angeles freedom fund
louisville community fund
massachusetts bail fund
minnesota freedom fund (as of may 30, 2020, they are encouraging people to donate elsewhere since they have raised enough money; as of may 29, 2020, they do not have a venmo, as some fraudulent accounts have been claiming, source)

richmond bail fund
MORE PLACES TO DONATE
note: more links are listed in the masterposts below.
northstar health collective (healthcare and medical aid for people on the front lines)
reclaim the block (aims to redistribute police funding to help the minneapolis community)
twin cities dsa (provides fresh groceries and hot meals to people in minneapolis)
2. educate yourself
it isn’t enough to sign petitions and reblog/retweet/etc. nonblack people, including people of color, owe it to black people to educate themselves and correct themselves and the people around them on anti-blackness.
note: more links are in the masterposts linked below.
resources and tools regarding racism and anti-blackness (google sheets compilation)
readings on society, racism, the prison system, etc. (twitter thread)

3. give out supplies to protestors
people need supplies to protest safely, and even if they bring supplies with them, they can often run out. if you’re able, stock up and hand them out to people protesting. for more supplies to donate, see the “george floyd action” google docs link in section 5.
water bottles (dehydration and heatstroke are not things people should have to deal with alongside bastard cops. if the police in your area are particularly violent or known to use tear gas, get the ones with the sports cap/suction-thing/etc so people can use them as emergency eye-flushes.)
snacks (make sure to take into account that people have allergies of all sorts. foods will have a little label that says “may contain” and then list any potential allergens. write the allergens on the ziploc (or any container you use) in permanent marker, or better yet, write the snacks included in the pack.)
masks (don’t forget there’s still a pandemic going on. also it will aid in deterring facial recognition when the police try to track down protestors, also part two, if the cops use tear gas, wearing a mask (with the combination of a scarf or bandana) will lessen the adverse effects. lessen, not stop.)
bandanas, scarves, etc. and goggles (ski goggles, swimming goggles, etc.) (see above for explanation on the scarves. same goes for the goggles. anti–tear gas and anti–facial recognition.)
clean shirts (for people who are heavily gassed. also helps deter recognition through clothing.)
wound care supplies (band-aids, packets of neosporin packets or a similar antibiotic, alcohol wipes, etc.; if you can, decant bactine into those little travel bottles.)
a sharpie or another type of marker (for writing bail numbers or emergency contacts on arms, hands, etc. it’s not enough to have your city’s bail fund number stored on your phone; the police won’t give it to you to look it up. give people a marker so they can write it down, preferably not washable so it isn’t easily removed.)
IMPORTANT: KNOWING FIRST AID
tear gas: if you’re hit, get out as fast and as soon as you can. take anyone you can with you. the longer you’re in the gas, the harder it will be for you to see, and it can irritate your airways, making it hard to breathe. if you’re hit, don’t run; it’ll only make things worse on your lungs. when you leave the area, take a cold shower. don’t use hot water (it will only reactivate the agent); don’t bathe (it will only spread the CS around). (source 1) (source 2) (cdc fact sheet on tear gas)
move them to a clean and ventilated area where it’s as safe as possible.
ask them if they’re wearing contact lenses. have them remove it. if they’re wearing glasses, rinse it with water.
solution of half liquid antacid, half water. spray from the inside going out, with the head tilted back and slightly towards the side being rinsed. if they say it’s okay, open the eye slightly while doing this. (source)
bullet wounds: the most important thing is to stop the bleeding. be sure to check for an exit wound and cover that as well. treat both wounds, but treat the worse one first.
stop the bleed (youtube video by uc san diego health)
first aid in active shooting scenarios
making a tourniquet (a commercial tourniquet is best, but improvised ones can work as well if done properly; the most important things to remember is that tourniquets are for limb injuries and are not meant for the head or torso and that they have to be very tightly wound on the injury.)
how to apply pressure dressings

4. be a source of information
be responsible with this. people’s lives are at stake. that being said, the media is a fucking joke and the best way to get accurate information in a grassroots rebellion is amongst ourselves. record everything, but if you are going to share any information at all, be sure to blur people’s faces.

remember to keep phones OFF unless absolutely necessary. cell phone towers, stingrays, location notifs can all be used to track you and other protestors. don’t fuck around. if your phone must be on, keep it on airplane mode as often as possible and only communicate using encrypted methods. no, snapchat doesn’t count. This is a good resource. A gentle reminder my fellow white people: resources like these can be found easily. Don’t ask Black people to tell you what to do. That’s our responsibility, not their labor. Educate yourself. Recognize the importance of the focus on police brutality, but also recognize how it exists in the world of white supremacy. Recognize your place and privilege in that greater landscape. Hold yourself and others accountable. And today especially, with the #BlackoutTuesday movement, recognize the difference between the white silence that lets racism rage on and our need to be quiet when necessary while listening to and amplifying black voices. I’ve been too silent too long, but I post so rarely on Tumblr these days. I’m trying to focus work to share Black voices on my tiny Twitter platform, @CaitOnTV (I write TV reviews), where I’m more active.
boring psa bc i haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere so far
remember that moisturising is an important part of hand hygiene. especially if you’re washing your hands more frequently these days. healthy, intact skin is one of your immune system’s barriers, as dry and cracked skin can harbour dirt and microbes, and in extra bad cases skin infection can tank your immune system further
soap and water is great for getting rid of harmful microbes but they also remove your skin’s natural oils, so please please please apply some lotion after you wash your hands
This message is brought to you by my knuckles being totally fucked from all the handwashing.
This message endorsed by my developing hand eczema (which can be further aggravated by soap and water) just in time for a worldwide pandemic that means washing my hands at least every couple hours.
That plane has carried them around for fifteen years and they’re really gonna do her dirty and blow her up like that??
CBS's 'All Rise' season 1 episode 16 preview with photos, plot description and cast list. "My Fair Lockdown" airs February 17, 2020.
PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS.
Winn’s mugshot is amazing except he’s toy man now?
The episode description reads:
JEREMY JORDAN RETURNS; DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTS – As Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) tries to thwart a Toyman copycat, Winn Schott (guest star Jeremy Jordan) returns from the future. David Harewood directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Katie Rose Rogers (#511). Original airdate 1/26/2020.
Now, there’s room for interpretation here- it COULD be a new person as the Toyman copycat and an evil Winn. But, with the promo where Lex calls doppelganger “Toyman”, I’m pretty sure that we’re getting both:
A. Jeremy Jordan playing Toyman, perhaps from a universe where Winn followed in his father’s footsteps or one where Winn doesn’t exist at all, sucked through a wormhole to attack Supergirl and her world
AND
B. Jeremy Jordan playing our known and beloved Winn Schott, called back by Kara or some third party to aid in the fight against a remarkably familiar foe.
(Honestly, I give good odds on Jeremy himself pushing for this angle. They get even better if we get a scene of him in hand-to-hand combat with himself)
FINALLY.
I know you’ve been, you know, nesting, so I thought a housewarming gift might be in order.
Two episodes in, and I will go to the front lines on behalf of this friendship. Don’t ever hook them up, not ever. They are everything exactly as they are.
Also, nearly everyone aside from Mark is female, POC, or both, Lola is a young black female JUDGE, current-to-the-day issues are being covered fiercely and apologetically, the wit and banter are *sparkling*, every other friendship (and one romance to be) is as wonderful as this, and even minor storylines are fleshed out with heart instead of being breezed over.
In short, WATCH THIS SHOW. If it stays anywhere near as good as it’s started, it deserves to last for many seasons.
Rolling my eyes hard at the “don’t ever hook them up”. I love how people always see a black woman and a white man on TV and think “They Must Be Platonic!” Like you’re not slick, masking your misogynoir with quasi-wokeness.
🙄🙄🙄
I admit I hadn't considered this point, and I'm sorry for that. I may well have been too intense. It's less that I don't want romance- though, as Lola is married, I worry about the plot tropes that would be used to "get around" that- it's more that I don't want this friendship, already so amazing, to be pressured to be something "more".
It's the very idea of romance as more* (and thus friendship as less) that makes me see genuine importance to something platonic in media staying that way. Especially on TV, where it seems literally everything that starts as friendship MUST turn into a romance. How many jokes have we heard about how men and women "can't just be friends"? They can, and those relationships can add so much fulfillment just as they are. That's what I want to see from these two.
Still, I’m probably also be too quick in forgetting the impact of their races on the significance of a potential romance, and I know being a white person makes that easier for me. We need media to step it up in the presence and portrayal of interracial relationships. IF the circumstances are handled well, a romance could be wonderful. But I would mourn someone for the necessary change in their sweet friendship as it stands. That's what I wanted to portray in a quick, silly reaction.
(*Just to be clear, I have no problem with spouses/SOs taking priority over friends. Of course the time and emotional devotion in those relationships means they have more impact. I just dislike that we often use that to excuse diminishing that friendships are also extremely impactful)
