Updates on The Void Bulletin Release Schedule
TLDW: the Void Bulletin is gonna take a little break until May 13!
The initial release of The Void Bulletin has been a hit, and thank you so much for that!
The support and excitement have been inspiring for me, and we are very grateful for the opportunity to put this podcast out there for you all!
There are a few updates we wanted to share.
First, there is a lot happening behind the scenes every week to get these episodes produced. The team is so hard-working and we have so much fun working on the VB, and on all of our projects at Livewire. And while it is a blast, and we will be continuing to do a lot every week to bring you new content, tabletop game updates, VB, Amity and Lorelei episodes, Livewire LIVE!, and more - we do all of that (very full-time) work unpaid. We do this, by and large, in our free time after earning money with our day jobs. So we are pretty busy folks on this team, and we have to make sure we balance all of these things and take good care of ourselves.
Second, we would very much like to continue working on improving the quality of the show. We have learned a lot, and continue to do so. There are some upcoming episodes and story-arcs planned that we want to give a lot of attention to. We want to make sure the art for the video version of the pod eps are on point. Liz want to really see this show through to being its best. And that means not rushing things.
Third, Lizâ actual make-the-monies job is entering its busy season through the spring. From now until May, her day job has basically all of her free time that isnât purely dedicated to self-care and family stuff. And that is not the time to be pushing out content because honestly, it would suck. She wouldnât do as good of a job as she could outside of the busy season, the showâs quality and content would suffer, and that just isnât fair to the team behind all of this.
Fourth, while it isnât entirely wrapped up because the show is serial, the G.A.R.D.E.N.s arc is primarily told by the end of episode 6, and it leaves a nice teaser for going back to some Void Number Probe shenanigans in episode 7. (Episode 7 is mostly done btw, we are still ahead but we wanna keep it that way and episode 6 is a better stopping point).
Given all of the above, it also makes more sense now to split these 40 episodes up into 2 seasons of 20 episodes a piece. And to be fair to us, we think the show does flow better split up that way. The major arcs in episodes 21-40 do connect back to the first 20, but the show does move forward at episode 21 in ways that are different and set new levels of expectations for the audience.
And so in conclusion: after episode 6 drops this week, The Void Bulletin will be on a spring break until May 13. We arenât going to stop working on the show in that time. Instead we are taking the opportunity of being a bit too busy to step back, improve the quality, take our time on some upcoming exciting episodes, and make this show even more entertaining. We will re-evaluate the episodes that are already planned and written, to decide on a release schedule that can more easily be maintained throughout the year in our free time. And in doing so, I think what the audience and fans will get in return is a gigantic improvement to production quality for the show.
We knew we would take some breaks in the schedule this spring, but we didnât originally plan to take such a long hiatus. We will be back, and also still here working behind the scenes!
