Hisashi Midoriya Fic Idea I'll Probably Never Write But Is Open To Being Adopted By Someone Else:
Instead of being an absent father, Hisashi is an actual character who works as a quirk analyst in the US and absolutely fucking adores his wife and son.
Izuku's got his curls, tanned skin and mumbling/nerdy nature. But Hisashi is stupidly tall, dark haired and has vaguely draconic features like golden slit pupils and little specks of translucent scales that turn golden when he uses his quirk.
Katsuki routinely makes jokes Izuku got NOTHING useful from him lol.
He also nests and is possessive, like a frigging dragon. His mouth starts smoking when he's mad or tired. Has a rough and low voice like he's been smoking for years.
(which is hilarious because coffee is his ONLY vice. And Inko, of course.)
Very grumpy and cynical, almost intimidating, but folds like a blanket in front of Izuku and Inko.
Spoils the shit outta his family. One of the perks of working abroad.
Fuels Izuku's hero merch obsession. Gotta buy his teenage son's love somehow OKAY?
In constant panic/hysterical mode throughout the anime/manga events.
Absolutely hates heroes, despite working in the field. Reason for it: Endeavor yay!
They're cousins, Hisashi was orphaned young so Enji's parents took him in. However Hisashi runs away from home and gives up his family name after being outcast for his heteromorphic features + how Enji's ambition blinded him.
Some Toya shenanigans going on here ppl.
Hisashi leaves Japan after Toya's 'death', unable to process it/needing time away. Inko is supportive.
Make things wackier by making Inko Nana Shimura's daughter because why the hell not.
Hauls his ass back home, foaming at the mouth, after seeing Izuku break all his bones on TV during the Sports Festival.
A lot of ppl (cough U.A cough) get ripped a new one.
Very overprotective over Izuku cuz he was a NICU baby, and Hisashi lowkey blames his heteromorphic genes.
Strangely self-deprecating and underconfident.
Cue All Might vs Hisashi Dad Wars.
(Hisashi is a better dad, just a little, because he curbs Izuku's self-sacrificial tendencies).
The running joke is that everyone under the sun is assumed to be Izuku's dad OTHER than Hisashi, the poor bastard himself.
So you've got wacky ass theories like Might!Dad, Dad!zawa, Stain!Dad, even freaking DadForOne.
My bro Hisashi will be standing right there and the police chief will think Tsukauchi is the dad Judge Judy style.
At one point, he just starts going around wearing a plain white shirt saying: Deku's Dad.
No one believes him, even the villains.
Shoto fucking adores him. They actively steal Endeavor's credit card and spend it on wild shit.
Also yep, Izuku and Shoto are cousins. Katsuki has a fucking aneurysm.
Forget Dad for One, this dude's a Dad for All.
All Might and Hisashi become snarky besties after a while. They both adore Izuku and want the best for him.
The friendship dynamic works because Hisashi lets the human, stubborn, petty side of Yagi come out without judging him for not being 'perfect'.
Inko is terrifying. Hisashi is a sap for her, like openly.
She clocked his dramatic ass once and he never went back. In this household, we love our wives ppl.
Another running joke: keeps doing the wildest, most insane shit outta nowhere and when people ask him "Who the hell are you?!"
Bro keeps saying. "I'm just a family man."
Then fucking detonates Ujiko's entire hospital.
Some Shimura family shenanigans too - aka the Midoriyas and the power of friendship.
Tenko gets a hug. Deservedly.
Toya gets a whack. Also deservedly.

And unfortunately, canon-compliant Enji Todoroki character study without bashing (ew, i know).
Alternatively: the fic where Hisashi collects traumatized kids like Pokémon. And actively shits on hero society the entire time.

Hisashi and Enji used to be insanely close when young. Enji wanted a little brother, Hisashi was right there, and he vehemently disagreed with his parents' treatment of Hisashi.
He once proclaimed wanting to be Hisashi's greatest hero, and despite not having a good impression of heroes (even when young), Hisashi fully believed Enji was the exception.
Hisashi's mother (Enji's aunt) eloped to marry a dragon heteromorph, cutting off all ties with disapproving family. They had Hisashi and were happy until a car accident, and five-year-old Hisashi would land in his uncle and aunt's care as next of kind.
They were old money, so had an image to maintain, and would beat the 'animalistic' traits out of him. Or otherwise pretend he just didn't exist.
After Hisashi would leave home, he'd completely disappear. Enji would try and fail to find him, cuz he was also busy with his career.
The loneliness, stress and absence of his moral compass (Hisashi) would push him to be more like the Endeavor we know. Forgetting "why" he wanted to be a hero.
Hence why it hit him so hard when Hisashi rebuffed him/called him the same as his parents (eugenistic and racist). Problem with the Todoroki family? Too hot-headed for their own goods, so both cut off contact.
Hisashi only really knew Toya and Fuyumi properly. Natsuo a little, and practically nothing about Shoto (only learning he existed when Shoto was like five).
Enji has always really, really wanted Hisashi to be on his side. Because it makes him feel like what he's doing is right. Hence his annoyance when Hisashi calls him out.
Toya's death weighs heavily on Hisashi, who thinks that if he'd just swallowed his pride, he might've had access to Toya and might've been able to help him.
Hisashi deeply, deeply fears being a dad like Enji or his uncle. Hence why he spoils Izuku so much, lets him do his thing, even when he hates heroes himself.
But he puts his foot down when Izuku keeps injuring himself, even if it makes Izuku get mad at him.
Inko has to constantly reassure Hisashi that he's a good dad, since Hisashi constantly doubts himself.
He knows he has a really bad temper like Enji, is just as big and stocky, which is why he's doubly afraid of ever raising his voice.
He's the calm, but validating uncle once they reconnect. Gently coaching Shoto about social cues without making him feel bad.
While Fuyumi remembers him and is happy to see him, Natsuo is more indifferent. A little irritated because he associates Hisashi as "Endeavor's family" versus theirs.
But the two get past it, and Natsuo acknowledges Hisashi's decision to cut off contact. Hisashi validates it when Natsuo feels torn over his decision.
The fic is mostly about Hisashi's relationship with his son in relation to the other parental relationships in BNHA.
Kind of funny, but after the big reveal about them being cousins after Hosu, Hisashi accidentally runs into Dabi -- who immediately blasts him out of instinct.
Hisashi is fireproof though (cuz of his scales), recognizes the blue fire and teal eyes and is instantly like "The fuck?"
Dabi is like "Oh fuck, he's gonna ruin my revenge plan" and runs off -- Hisashi chasing after him at full speed yelling at the top of his lungs.
They eventually reconnect as well, with Dabi being surprised when Hisashi hugs him so damn tightly.
Since Dabi's whole shtick was that no one remembered/cared for him even when he was dead -- the idea that Hisashi was so powerfully affected by his absence is stunning to him.
Parenting ensues.
The narrative in a nutshell:
Hisashi begins working at U.A as a contractual quirk counselor. Nedzu vouches for him and he has experience as an analyst.
Izuku is pissed at him for putting him on probation, because he feels like he has failed. Yagi does some reflecting on his own self-worth.
His doors are open to everyone, but Hisashi is a little pissed off no one turns you — only like a handful of students from the Hero Course. So he goes out hunting, running into a couple of Gen Ed students, including Shinsou.
He corrects the misunderstanding that he is available only to the Hero Course, then is baffled by how little Shinsou has used his quirk. Then drags him away to train.
The rumors spread, Hisashi schedules an hour every day with each student who signs up. His usual visitors are Kaminari, Shinsou, Izuku and surprisingly Tokoyami.
Once, when Hisashi comes to inspect class, he sees Aoyama’s pain and Ochako’s queasiness so he has Izuku drag then over too.
Izuku and Hisashi meet Gran Torino, who’s been nominated as the person to train Izuku by All Might. Gran Torino and Hisashi have a candid conversation about how fucking terrified Yagi is of him (since Hisashi put the fear of god into the man). Kind of earns him Torino’s respect but also his ire because he thinks Hisashi may be coddling his son.
That is, until he sees them train. Hisashi is okay with Torino because he’s implementing a fighting style he wished for Izuku to learn.
Hisashi keeps avoiding Shoto through the weirdest ways initially (before Izuku asks for his help) — even going so far as to lock himself and Yagi in a closet. Passing by, Aizawa asks if they’re coming out of the closet. Hisashi shoots him a dirty look.
When Izuku finds out Shoto is going to Endeavor's for his internship, he asks Hisashi to help. It's too late for Hisashi to do anything, but he does have an awkward conversation with Shoto lol.
Hisashi and Yagi finally start getting over their differences, entering an uneasy truce. On the last day of the ‘internships’, Torino and Izuku leave U.A for training purposes. Hisashi is in Hosu for unrelated matters and is to catch up with them.
Stain happens, and Hisashi nearly gets jumped by a Nomu only to burn it to ashes and run into Endeavour. Enji and Hisashi gawk at one another, then Hisashi speedsruns away while he shrieks behind him "SHOOOOTOOOO" style.
“HISAAAASSSSHIIIII!!!”
While doing this, Hisashi gets Izuku’s text and hurries over — connecting the dots, Izuku had been worried about his friend acting weird, Ingenium and Stain etc.
He shows up just as Stain is about to stab Tenya, then drops a brick on his head — instantly knocking him out.
He rushes down and hugs the childrne tightly while Izuku bursts into tears at the sight of a parent. Note: Hisashi clutches both Shoto and Izuku to his chest, surprising Shoto. He wacks Stain once more just for good measure. Then he tends to Native and Tenya just as the paramedics arrive.
Izuku thinks his dad is pissed at him since Hisashi tells him they will talk later, brushing off his apology.
The Nomu swoops into grab Izuku, but Hisashi is faster. He grabs Izuku and Endeavour burns down the Nomu in one go.
Then as the police come to drag the kids away for questioning, Hisashi publically amends their mistake by stating he was the one to defeat the Hero Killer. Cue surprise, Hisashi is stubbornly ignoring Enji. So instead HE drags the policemen away for questioning, letting the kids get tended to by paramedics.
After questioning he goes to the hospital only run into the police chief intimidating his kids. Hisashi gets pissed again, steps in and resolves the situation at the expense of his relationship with the police.
Izuku and Hisashi finally resolve stuff, this time Hisashi is proud of him for not doing things alone/making progress. Izuku is relieved, then asks what the hell is up with him and Enji. Hisashi reassures him absolutely nothing lol.
Later, Enji corners Hisashi. The two fight and its revealed they’re cousins, just as they round the corner to reveal Izuku and Shoto kneeling in front of a vending machine — a black credit card in Shoto’s hand and Izuku munching on M & Ms. The truth is revealed, and Enji tries to introduce Hisashi to Shoto. Hisashi snaps and does it himself, going “Hi kid, I’m your uncle. Just so you know, I tried suing him.”
Shoto fucking adores him.
Enji is a dick up until after Season 3, but he’s a dick who just found out that the cousin he thought was dead this entire time is actually alive — so he’s trying his damnest to bring him back home. Only two probems: Hisashi hates his guts, and his son, Izuku, somehow has a superpower quirk.
Funny scene between them: Enji implies Izuku is not his own and/or Inko cheated on him. All of Hisashi’s decorum flies out the window and Shoto gets to witness the glorious sight of his uncle absolutely beating the shit out of his dad.
