He is a Hirudo Medicinalis Aka: an English medicinal leech.
He lived to be about 21. (I see Julian as like 37, 38ish so take that as you will)
He way lived longer than the average leech of his species, since they can live from 2 to 8 years old he lived about 19 to 13 years longer.
He lived so long due to Julian treating him so well.

Sparky loves mimes. Sometimes, Julian would dress as one and Sparky would be the happiest little leech.

Due to Sparky's lack of vocal cords, he makes a great mime.
