INTRO POST (FINALLY!)

Hey there! I just have a couple of disclaimers about my blog!

You can simply call me Kay, Ray, or any other nickname as long as it’s not an insult!

I don’t care much about pronouns as long as you don’t call me by ‘it’. That’s just dehumanizing, guys.

I’m solidly queer so dni if that’s a problem. I’m not afraid of blocking you and reporting for harassment.

IMPORTANT- English is NOT my first language so if at any moment my posts seem weird just assume I’ve renounced the language and decided grammar it’s a choice. I WILL have linguistic debates with you if you offer, though. I love the little nuisances of the language more than the actual language. (ikykik)

I might be a fandom inclined blog but like I feel the need to state that I’m always going to treat this blog like a venting account in general. Most of my posts will probably be about fandom but I WILL talk about other stuff.

Alas, the reality of a lot of them technically being kid tv shows that are not as mainstream as the Owl House is in tumblr.

I’m a small writer who hasn’t published anything (yet) but I’m building up to it! I’m also an avid reader so expect a lot of book rants and comments. I read almost exclusively fiction but if you have a good nonfiction book that you would like to recommend hmu.

Story prompt

Kon was found and raised by Lobo, because Lobo was bored.

Kon, somehow, still ends up joining Young Justice.

The thing is: Kon decided to join YJ because of Li’L Lobo.

His dad mentor had been turned into a teen somehow and they decided to stick around the team for a while. It’s not until after they stow away during their visit to Apokolips that things get complicated. Li’l Lobo decided to play hero and now Kon is stuck.

Something about that fight (something about the other clones) makes it hard to leave this team, even if Lobo is back now. The added bonus of Slobo is just what closes the deal. He can’t leave now that he has found someone just like him; someone stuck in the shadow of their original. He’s also so much like Lobo that just leaving him there feel wrong.

Lobo also acted odd after the fight, as if any interest he had ever hold on him was gone. Sure, Lobo had been cold before, but at least he had tried to teach him to control his TTK and taught him bits and pieces of Kryptonese. He had seen him. Now he doesn’t even care that Kon was there— it was as if he had forgotten Kon had come with him in that ship.

So yeah, Kon-El decides to stay on Earth alone with the team. Hey! At least Lobo gave him a name and took care of him before he got bored again!

rp blogs have my full respect. Not only do they love a fandom so deeply they found a new way to interact with it and share their au’s and hcs, but they are also dedicated enough to be both relatively active and wholesomely optimistic. Most of them dgaf when someone doesn’t like them, they just outright block them and continue with their day. Talk about actually enjoying yourself and socializing without getting into fights! If more blogs were even a little more like them in that aspect, I wholeheartedly believe that half of the toxic tumblr discourse would not happen.

That and one time someone accused me of stealing an OC without any proof that I did which I know I didn't and then they just like didn't respond when I mentioned "Can I have like an explanation on what you think I've done" because I was trying to understand and they just they still haven't explained and it's just ugh-)

Accusing someone of stealing an OC without proof is insane behavior. Especially without a single piece of evidence. That’s horrible I hope you blocked their acc.

I meant this to be more about rp blogs not engaging on most of their hate asks/comments unless it’s to clown on them (which is really valid) or to clarify something about their blog, and even then they don’t let themselves to be dragged into a tumblr fight. I love you all, lets enjoy fandom together <3

it’s not weird to find fanfiction from 2021, or 2017, or 2014 that you’ve never read and actually taking your time to read it.

it’s not weird to love it and comment and leave kudos because the author will probably still see it someday and it will make them happy.

it’s not weird to like said author’s work so much that you want to go look for other fics from them.

it’s not weird to go through the authors profile and look for other fics from the ships you like (or maybe some that you’ll give a chance because you liked the author) and maybe bookmark them for later.

it’s not weird to read these other fics and like them too and comment on them because you actually like them and you want to let the author know.

it’s not weird to read fanfiction from 5, or 8, or 10 years ago and actually enjoy and engage with it because it’s perfectly normal to relate to something that’s less than a decade old!

let’s stop treating fanfiction like they’re instagram posts that stop being interesting in 24 hours! fanfiction is NOT social media, fanfiction is art!!! and art doesn’t get old in one day, one year, or even a decade!

read fanfiction! write fanfiction! comment on fanfiction! let’s not let fanculture die people!!!!!

Not only is it not weird, it is ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED. Authors LOVE IT when people do this!!! Its not "weird" and its not "neutral" -- its a fucking DELIGHT. Feel very absolutely free to read though an author's entire back catalogue, leaving kudos and/or comments along the way; we absolutely freaking love when someone does this. There is nothing more joyful than getting a comment notification for an old fic. It will make our day, I promise.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the supers in general, (because how is one supposed to be the last son of krypton when others keep popping up??Kara???? Jor-el was alive at some point of semi current continuity, right????) but that’s a conversation for another day. I admittedly have not read any of their comics outside of like a third? of Kon’s Superboy run (1994) and, of course, the death and return of Superman. So I can’t fairly judge most of them. (sorry kara, jon, and biz, I promise one day I’ll try to get you some justice)

That being said, I must say that Kon is definitely my favorite characterization-wise. He’s new and fresh in both good and negative ways and you can feel the arrogance exuding out of him, but you can also feel his desire to be good. Or at least to comply to his idea of good. He’s inexperienced and stuck in Clark’s shadow, craving acceptance in a way that just resonates with me. I’m pretty sure his narrative is going somewhere interesting but I haven’t finished his run so let’s not judge me too fast,,, I haven’t even started yj98 in issue order😭

I also believe in the symbol that Superman is in superhero media. He is such an icon for a reason; even if Injustice smeared his reputation (Injustice was bad for everyone’s rep tbf). I’m a Ma and Pa Kent stan before anything else, and the idea that raising someone and teaching them love, kindness, respect, and compassion can create a hero will always inspire me. He didn’t have a great tragedy that lead him to be a hero nor was he “born into the business” like most heroes do. He took the values his parents taught him and decided that he could do good. And if that’s not a hero I’m not sure what a hero is.

So while yes, Kon is definitely my favorite super character; Clark will always be one of my favorite symbols when it comes to heroes in media.
