Facebook post by Robert Hartwell on 24 June 2020. Caption reads:
3 weeks ago I found this house online. I said “this is my house”. I called the seller and was told it was a cash only offer and that “I’m sure that takes you off the table”. Don’t you ever underestimate a hard working black man. I saw the house last week and when I walked in I knew I was home. The house was built in 1820 for the Russell family who owned the cotton mill in town. Slavery was still legal. When the agent asked me why I wanted such a large house I said it was “a generational move”. I know this house is bigger than me. I wish I could’ve told my ancestors when they were breaking their back in 1820 to build this house that 200 years later a free gay black man was going to own it and fill it with love and find a way to say their name even when 200 years later they still thought I would be “off the table”. We are building our own tables. I’ve never been prouder to be a black man. Come to my White House any time. I can’t wait to have you! Glory to God in the highest. I’m a homeowner.

is anyone else like....... exhausted? just way too tired? mentally and physically? and you look at other people your age who seem to be doing fine and you feel so dysfunctional and broken because normal adult tasks and responsibilities just feel way too overwhelming and you can’t cope and
being tired all the time is such a mystery.... is it anaemia? vitamin d deficiency? chronic fatigue syndrome? depression? insomnia?? is it just the crushing weight of being alive in a capitalist society??? someone cure me
I think I’m going to apply a bit more critical thinking when watching the news.
By law, it should be
REQUIRED to have wheelchair ramps at every door
REQUIRED to have elevators in every building
REQUIRED to have braille on every sign
REQUIRED to have auditory options for every text
REQUIRED for children to learn d/Deaf standard sign language in school
REQUIRED that everyone learn how to do CPR and how to detect a stroke
REQUIRED that areas with strobe/flashing lights have proper warnings
Stop calling it disability "friendly" or "accessible". Start calling it the fucking standard.
This post passes the vibe check.
by ADA most of these actually are legally required... America just sucks.......
Yeah, you’d have to have the money to sue every time shit like this wasn’t on-par, and given that most disabled folks are well below the poverty line? 😬 not happening, unfortunately.
Idk about anywhere else in the world tho, and I don’t want to interpret this post as purely US-centric. Bc it’s not. This should be a thing all over the world.
Just going to note that the ADA requires a few of these things, not all of them, and as @lamby-grahamy so accurately pointed out even those are rarely implemented and maintained correctly.
For example a wheelchair ramp at every door is not an ADA requirement. There only needs to be one accessible entrance and even that is often blocked or otherwise made inaccessible - if it exists at all.
More uplifting news during this outbreak ♥️

When You Least Expect It. Probably Late March
reblog for happiness to come for you in late march!
I reblogged this last year and I hung out with blink-182 backstage on March 30. Reblogging again because it worked the first time.
honestly, last year one of the best days of my life happened in late March
Hey, I’ll give it a shot!
Catherine wants to make people more aware about how important it is to be aware of these issues.
She knew him for 20 years. He worked as a police officer. 90 days as a punishment is such a pathetic sentence. Total rubbish. this guy is evil and who knows how many victims of his assaults have stayed unknown. What a scums serve in the law enforcement…

I never used to understand why people were so against vaccines, I mean they were created to protect us & keep us safe. That was something I believed until I was the one who became seriously unwell from a vaccine. At age 12 I lost my sight & hearing not even an hour after 1 of the 3 HPV Gardasil vaccines. My sight & hearing eventually came back but I have been left with chronic pain, permanent damage to my body, I will never be healthy & will be spending the rest of my life on medication so I can function. I don’t know if I believe that vaccines cause autism & I don’t think every vaccine is as dangerous as the Gardasil vaccine but I do believe there are plenty that have very high risks of irreversible damage. Please understand that a lot of people who don’t agree with vaccines don’t just wake up one morning & decide to be against them. They have their reasons whether that’s because they have personally been affected or know someone who has & there is a lot of research showing the dangers of a lot of new vaccines being created. Please try to be understand & respect people’s views without getting angry. It breaks my heart having to listen to people shout & laugh at me without listening to my experiences with vaccine injury & instead they shove their views & opinions down my throat telling me I’m wrong about what happened to me. (Already posted this once but wanted to make some changes & add some extra links but some how lost the original post so had to redo. Sorry!!)
I have women expressing poignant remorse, shame, and rage because they trusted their Pharma-pushing doctor instead of trusting themselves
"Public Should Receive More Complete Warnings"
Sometimes “I’m not available” means “I’m not mentally/emotionally available” instead of “I’m not physically available” which is ok! Both of those are equally important.
My bones hurt I'm tired of this nonsense
burning pain? check! throbbing pain? check! aching pain? check! stabbing pain? check! screaming nerves? check! weird numb sensation? check!
looks like the gang’s all here!
the sad thing is that you actually get used to being in pain. that you get used of having to give up on your dreams. that it becomes your new normal to spend days in bed, not capable of picking up your tooth brush. of course it never gets easier, it only gets harder. but yeah it just became my life. and that's that, suddenly that is your normal.
you guys i am just. so tired.
