@claudiasdiary
The episode cannot be that bad
I see.
Rolin Jones would've figured out a way to have Louis apologize to Santiago's ghost if Ben Daniel's would've agreed to come back.
AMC did a whole 180 and marketed the lestat showTM it's all about lestat now we only care about lestatlestatlestatlestat and then in the lestat centric season they did not tell Lestat's story like at all lestat genuinely has a fascinating background that does explain (not excuse!!) But does explain a lot of his actions but we got about 2mins of his backstory in 8 hours of show... what was the point? Why did rolin spend the last like 5 years talking about how he was so excited to adapt tvl and just wanted to get through iwtv so they could do tvl to then not do tvl at all?
And not only is tv dead but tv criticism is too so this season is getting GLAZED and any time u critique any of it you get hit with the “you just don’t get it”. Like no actually I fully got it but thanks
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Vampire Lestat. The writing is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the vampire chronicles most of the references will go over a typical viewer's head and might require them to watch the show two or more times. There's also Lestat's existential outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from The Coven of the Articulate literature, for instance.
The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the songs, to realise that they don't just sound Amazing - they say something deep about LIFE.
As a consequence people who dislike The Vampire Lestat truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Lestat's existential catchphrase "I have the Blood of Akasha in me" which itself is a cryptic reference to Anne Rice's epic The Queen of the Damned.
I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Rolin Jones' genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens.
What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a TVL tattoo.
And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even
then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower)
beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
it's never unholy family over !!!!!!!!!
tvl episode simulation
lestat: *awful french(?) accent* fam they are low-key trying to cancel me for serving too much cunt all because i'm too camp and too whimsical and now the woke mobe is coming for me but they'll have to take the L because I HAVE THE BLOOD OF AKASHA IN ME iykyk i'm just living rent-free in your minds because i'm looking snatched periodt
*five minutes musical video with the worst song you have ever heard*
gabriella: *count dracula accent* uuuuh lestat fuck me !! fuck mamma again and again and again !! i want sex i want to be FUCKED i want to suck a cock i love cock i only think of cock and murder uuuuuh lestat let's kill all humanity
daniel: did you stutter as a child? did you stutter as a child? did you stutter as a child? did you stutter as a child? oh and also: *seven different slurs*
louis: oh i'm sorry i'm a selfish bastard i'm a bad person i should be humbled *random slurs are said his way*
armand: *opens his eyes two seconds before the episode ends*
The way I've seen every character be mentioned by different sections of the fandom as the possible person who finally "understands/sees" Armand in the finale. Lestat, Marius, Daniel, Akasha, Louis, Claudia. Like, ok, damn, so many candidates for the Armand-understander contest. Funniest possible outcome would be that Assad hyped up a moment that is kind of a nothing burger and everyone is gonna be disappointed about it and all the theories could be for nothing at all.
Behind the veil
“you big into claudia” don’t even joke lad
and to think i really thought this season we were gonna get a whole dedicated lesmand episode with the scene at the ball and the trial fallout and a century i had waited, and you did not want me!
everything i hear about this season and the little i’ve seen gives the impression that the intention is in part to degrade and humiliate Black fans of the show for daring to care about the Black characters the show cared deeply about for the first two seasons. why won’t you accept that the racial abuse and domestic violence was set dressing for the real story, which is about the world’s specialest white man vomiting twitter while the narrative works overtime to pin his abusive behavior on its characters of color? did you think we actually wanted you in the audience? it has been Black fans word of mouth promoting the show since the first episode and building the fandom that would then force them out, and now the show itself is rejecting their presence.
Making Claudia into a one dimensional lying angry black woman stereotype when she had a cold righteous rage that simmered through all of her injustice is just so disheartening. Her complex relationship with her parental figures was so nuanced where love, respect, disappointment, and resentment merged into a special highlight of the show. A strange rant where she's inexplicably racist and hateful to Louis over the man she compared to a literal tyrant slave owner feels so off. She has the right to be angry at them both but the implication that Louis was the worst person to her serves nothing other than the writer's agenda to discount the beauty of s1 and 2.
practically no armand. barely any louis and all he does is grovel. gabrielle reduced to a misogynistic stereotype and all complexity erased. one episode of nicki. claudia ooc and used only as a tool for the male mcs. lestat’s there but all he does is sing terrible songs and deliver cringe attempts at modern references clearly written by people in their mid to late thirties. dm rushed. lesmand erased. loustat completely unconvincing. existence of loumand completely ignored. gabistat disgusting. show quality not upheld. book not adapted. so what exactly have we accomplished this season and why
After refusing to adapt tvl in any meaningful way all season they just HAD to ruin louclaudias relationship in order to remain accurate to a throwaway chapter of merrick?? And of course throw in some racial slurs
the way the show wanted me to be mad at louis for saying to ghost claudia that she should be thanking him for killing bruce just... didn't work on me at all. the main problem is, this whole storyline felt very awkward in the first place: it wasn't his idea and he didn't wanna do it, talamasca manipulated him into it for arbitrary reasons and then narratively it was mostly used to prop up lestat's story.
he could say literally anything else but he brought up the lamest plot point where he had the least narrative agency. and i think it's indeed a writing problem: they wanted louis to say something unhinged and mean and get wacked for it by claudia, but they could only use what happened in this season.
like, walk with me (and you know how much i love louis) and imagine if louis said "you should be thanking me for following you around when no one else ever cared about you". imagine if he said "you should be thanking me for giving you 50 years of life". like, it'd infuriate me and it'd be perfectly in-character (like, welcome back, florence de pointe du lac) and i can imagine what claudia would have to say in response!
but no, we have this shitty lame ooc bruce thing and louis being like "oh i can't believe i said this to her. lol. moving on". just... this is so frustratingly boring holy fucking hell. this whole season is full of the softest beigest pillows alternating with shock value bullshit.
