My favorite take on Pope Leo came from a priest who made a comment like, "I went on a pilgrimage to Poland and saw the birthplace of John Paul II. I can't imagine people going on pilgrimages to the south side of Chicago."

Always remember…
Prayer does not always have a set Formula.
Prayer does not have to be Words.
Prayer can be the creation of Art.
Prayer can be Learning.
Prayer is how we connect and build our relationship with God, there is no ‘one right way’ to pray.

I am not shamed to admit that I am a traditional Catholic…
As a “trad” as many people refer to me as, it is important to remember some key elements. When learning theology you can’t use the clips and phrases found on News media (both secular and Catholic) as your end all be all. I have been keeping up with the most recent synod…to see the current reactions and stretches that have been made have been appalling. Linked on the post I have the direct Vatican source as well as a unbiased (as far as I am able to discern) video going over the most recent dubias. The behavior and reactions of those who seemingly hold the title of Catholic is sickening at their ability to scorn and denounce the Pope over wicked lies and false information.
As Catholics we must submit to and pray for our Holy See!
We are not called to ‘like’ him or think he is the best Pope to ever grace our history, but remember what our Bible says…
Romans 5:8 “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Matthew 25:40 “The King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me”
But I continue, we are called to love and support each other. Everyone knows the phrase “love the sinner hate the sin” and although I do not believe that the Pope is the sinner in this situation it reminds us that we are all fallen and are trying to live like Saints, so listen to the words of the man trying to guide us and make prudent decisions when listening…

Prayer for a struggling teacher (written by @converted-catholic )
Hey all! Long time no post…
I wanted to give a quick update on me and the directions of this blog.
To answer the big question: No, I am not leaving tumblr…
…I have just had some major changes in my life schedule, I started a new job as a theology teacher! Can you believe it! I still have the fire and passion in my soul to create a beautiful, informative, and Catholic space on this corner of the internet. Book/media reviews, lecture posts, Catholic news and art, prayers, etc. But I just have to balance that with ensuring I am proving the best education to my students!
I’ll be back soon, promise ❤️ (today even I have some new prayers written)
The Incredulity of Saint Thomas Vicente López y Portaña –1849
I recently watched “The Pope Answers” on Hulu and there were some ups and downs, I do believe the Pope handled the off the cuff questions decently and I especially enjoyed his take on sinners with the “We should never leave the women [in regards to abortion] alone, we are called to love and help her, but let’s not be afraid to call a spade a spade” an absolutely killer response that I hope reaches the wild audience…However I do believe that some of the questions went over the Pope’s head in regards to what the real question was limiting his ability to answer properly, this probably being due to the agenda that Hulu had.
[examples of these questions specifically being ‘Hate’ within the church (the teaching of homosexual actions as sin) to which the pope thought they meant actual hatred and exclusion and not the more modern form for the word “hate”, and the use of clips a women in a homosexual relationship to give the audience context to her question without offering the same context to the Pope leading to him affirming a question never asked to him]
Overall the documentary was fantastic but unless you are of sound theology or understand the lack of context of some questions given to the Pope I would recommend staying way.
8/10
I’m finishing up a draft for my food based theology book!!!
I know I have not been super active on here recently, but I plan to start coming back with more theological content and book reviews.
Speaking of books, the one I am working on, it mainly focuses on the the ancient Jewish and Catholic traditions revolving around food and what the theological meaning for it all is. Would people be interested in previewing maybe one or two of the essays in this? I feel it might be awhile before I will get to actually publish this but would love for others to get to learn about this fulfilling topic.
Happy Feast if the Immaculate Conception 💕 Remember it is a day of obligation
The Catholic Church is the Church of losers and that's ok, we are willing to sit and eat with the wretched and the poor, we are sinners ourselves, but we are also the Church of love, founded by Jesus and given to Peter and the other Apostles, given through an event that inspires us and allows us to relive the event of God daily in the faces of those around us. Those around use are what inspire us to love to live in accordance with the Bible, because we are a Church of sinners and losers, but we know that all can be forgiven.
Book Review--Laurus
Laurus is a 2012 Russian novel by Eugene Vodolazkin set in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. This book relates the foreverness of true love with a story of timeless self forgiving, and spiritual understanding from the point of view of Eastern Orthodoxy. Arsany's journey takes you through time, tragedy, love, and forgiveness sa he tries to reconcile for his sins. This fiction novel pulls from the desert fathers in some of its philosophy and is so thought provoking and emotional it Brough me to tears. Despite the religious differences between a Catholic and Orthodoxy the truths of the theology and Gods eternal love shines through. Overall this is a 10/10 book and I recommend it to everyone regardless of their religious background.

A Statement on the actions of 01/06/2021
On January 6th 2021 a group of protesters decided to go to the capital to protest the voting that was to take place over the US election, however much like what we saw with the earlier 2020 Black Lives Matter protests a small group of people turned this even in to a spectacle.
It is important for catholics to remember that violence does not bring or promote peace.
I like to use my platform and my influence, no matter how small, to inform and help people understand the Catholic faith...with that I find it important to say that Trump is NOT the savior of the Church, nor is he the savior of the American people. The man may be Pro-Life for babies, but remember Pro-Life is for all immigrants, races, gender, sexualities, ages, religions and political beliefs...even if you disagree...
...5 people died during this protest that should have remained peaceful and unarmed. 5 people died because of the willful act of violence and terror that was not condemned by our standing president. As a Catholic you do not have to support Trump just as much as you don’t have to support Biden, but wishing for peace while supporting or participating in violence will not help you be closer to God
If you take anything from me let it be this: I am appalled at the spectacle of violence that took place yesterday, Catholic Bishops have condemned the violence that happened at this event, and Pope Francis is praying for the return of American Catholic’s faith to God and away from the Idolatry we have created out of our politics
Who wanna see a super cute picture of Mom n Baby Jesus 👀
