hey listen if you can figure out what's wrong then half the battle is already won! here's some troubleshooting!!!
Did not eat? Eat something nutritionally valuable - start with fat and protein like nuts and cheese
No time for hyperfixation? See if you can incorporate it into your work! Gamification babey
Have not done a creative in 24 hrs? Use a random word generator and write a short poem based on three of them. Or find a doodle prompt and time yourself for 5 mins. Congrats u did a thing
Bad sounds? Carry earplugs in your wallet
Clothes are touching your body? Leave a change of pants/shirt in your car/bag/locker/etc if you can
Cold? Invest in a portable hand warmer (bonus points if it's also a charger)
People? Find solitude. You can't pour from an empty cup
1 comment stuck in ur brain? Ask yourself if there is anything you can do about it right this second. If so, do it. If not, let it go.
Hydration issues? Get a tiny collapsible water bottle and fill it up on the hour/during transitions. Way less intimidating than big bottles and harder to lose if it's in a bag or something. Add a pinch of salt to it for electrolytes.
Nervous? Put together an anxiety kit. Smelly things like peppermint oil help me to breathe deep, and mustard packets taste strong enough to ground me
Slightly worse grade than expected? No stress amigo. From one perfectionist to another, your best is enough.
Last hug unknown? Go find one, or use weighted blankets and/or stuffed animals
Lonely? Go find a club that is meeting near you, even if you aren't particularly interested in the subject! Support your local library! Go to church!
Guts are shredding (menstruation)? Exercise and water is your first line of defense.
Have not seen sunlight? Put your bare feet on grass or dirt for about 15 minutes ... it will change things just a little
Stuck inside? Rearrange some furniture or decorations. Build a fort.
(Or, have a theme day where you theme your food, tv, activities, etc around something like "pirates" or "dr who" or "birds". It's like throwing yourself a party!)
Too much screen time? Tell your loved ones you're going on a social media fast for a time, and then delete your apps. Enable all blue light filters.
Overwhelmed? Talk it out with someone. Feelings get smaller when there's a spotlight on them
Room is a disaster area? Just pick up the trash and consolidate your clothes in one big pile. See where it gets you
Haven't talked to your person in a while? Give them a text or call, just to say hi for a few minutes
Bored? Look through your bookmarks!
Imposter phenomenon? Remember that people could tell if you were trying to fool them; you have earned the right to be where you are. Your skills and talents are evident, even if it's not in the ways that others' may be.
No current routine? Start with making your bed and drinking water each morning and reading a book for 10 minutes before bed. Start and end your day consistently.
Working too much? Stand up and stretch/go to the bathroom/get a snack/etc. at least every hour. Get off the screen. YES, interrupt your hyperfocus. It will come back I promise
Too much socialization? Slip away for a while ... take time to yourself, both daily and as needed. Again: you can't pour from an empty cup.
