Imagine a reader who was part of the gaang leading up to the war. They had joined the gaang when they returned to Omashu, having caught them tricking fire nation soldiers. Reader ambushed the gaang, questioning them on why they snuck into Omashu, when reader learnt of Aang being the avatar, reader joined the gaang on their quest to save Bumi.
Reader is a 14-15 year old non-bender from the earth kingdom who is pretty good fighter, their main weapon being a rope dart (like Xu Xialing from Shangi Chi).
After fleeing from Omashu, reader decided to join the gaang on their quest to stop the 100 year war. Along the way more friends joined the gaang like Toph and Zuko.
Leading up to the final battle, the gaang had become a lot more⊠possessive of reader.
Over the months, the gaang had gotten really close with reader, being clingy and fighting over reader.
Aang is always goofing around with reader. When the team rests near rivers or lakes he would try getting them in the water, splashing them with water-bending or air-bending wind against reader to mess up their hair just for friendly fun. If reader ever gets angry about his jokes he would immediately apologize, however heâs oblivious when reader show signs of discomfort and doesnât voice their emotions. However after he almost died in Ba sing se, he started acting⊠different. He was still kind and funny but he became overprotective. Reader had gotten hurt because he failed, he blamed himself for being careless and failing in his duty as avatar. From then on he would almost never let reader out of sight and would always cling to reader.
Katara in the beginning was amazed by readerâs skills with rope dart and thought of reader as an independent, strong warrior. However as time went on Katara stepped more into the role of being a mother figure to reader and worrying over reader when they would engage in a fight. âReader! You could hurt yourself with that rope dart, its too sharp!â ââŠ. Katara, ive been using this weapon for years⊠AND ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SHARPâ. The turning point in her becoming a yandere is also in the Crystal Catacombs, during the fight against Azula, reader gets injured. This is where Kataraâs overprotectiveness of reader goes up a notch. Katara watches over reader like a hawk 24/7 and tries to prohibit reader from using their rope (But fails as reader is too stubborn).
Sokka is probably the most leaned back out of the entire gaang especially when reader first joins. Heâd make some jokes with reader and when they would laugh and call him hilarious? Oh this boy would get so flustered that he would try making reader laugh any chance he gets from then on. Sokka loves shopping so he would definitely spoil reader. Oh reader was looking at a hat in some shop? Well Sokka is now putting on reader and telling them how good they look! Just as the rest of the gaang began changing after readerâs injury, so did Sokka. Instead of being the same leaned back guy, he became very strict especially as the gaang started travelling around the fire nation in disguise. Oh those relaxing walks reader used to take in the beautiful places you would rest at? âWhat if you get kidnapped? No one will able to save you if youâre alone! How about you just stay near me where youâre nice and safe?â. Although after the failed invasion, he seems to be back to his goofy self (Without the stress of having to face the fire lord in this many days) but is still very possessive with reader. Reader is always followed around by Sokka who says âcome on im just tryna hang out with my buddyâ. Whenever reader is doing any task, Sokka will try help them as much as possible just as an effort to try impress reader.
Toph is also leaned back like Sokka, this mostly since she knows what its like to be controlled all the time and she doesnât want reader to feel the same so she allows reader a lot of freedom but not too much. She doesnât coddle reader over every time scratch they get in battle (unlike Katara), she would actually the only one in the gaang who would encourage reader to fight and practice mastering their weapon. Speaking of fighting, she would most definitely spar with reader. She would try going easy on reader but they would definitely get their ass beaten by her, although afterwards she does make sure reader is okay and might take them to Katara for healing in case they donât feel so good (Which would make her put her pride aside apologise nonstop). Even after readerâs injury, shes still the same. However, since she can tell when people are lying, she often catches when reader feels uncomfortable with the gaangâs behaviour or lies to the gaang. This eventually leads to Toph catching reader trying to leave escape in the middle of night (At the western air temple). After that she keeps close to reader and gives them subtle hints to intimidate reader so that they donât even think of escaping.
Zuko when he first joins the team, doesnât act possessive or controlling, he just basks in readerâs company and gets to know them. Reader was fine with Zuko joining the team and didnât hold any resentment so Zuko is naturally more drawn to finding company with reader. However this doesnât exactly sit well with the rest of the gaang more sprcifically Katara . Since Zuko wasnât there when reader got injured he doesnât have a sharp turning point where he becomes a lot more yandere. Instead after being confronted by Katara telling him to stay away from reader, he starts realising how possessive and overprotective the gaang is over reader. So of course he begins feeling the same way about reader. In terms of leaned back or strict, I would like to think Zuko is a bit strict (Not as much as Katara though). Zuko is the type to use training as an excuse to hang out more with reader. âSince im already training Aang I can also teach you⊠uhh.. fire nation combat!â. The main reason he is on the stricter side is because when Toph catches reader trying to escape, he was awake and heard it all. After that he cannot sleep peacefully, always thinking reader might be up to no good. And since hes new to the team he thinks that stopping reader from escaping would also win him points with the rest of the team ahem Katara.
Over the years of fighting and travelling alongside the gaang, reader sees how yandere the gaang becomes and in all honesty they are sick of it. Reader puts up with all the overprotectiveness, possessiveness until the Western Air temple where Zuko also joins in on pushing readerâs boundaries. This of course leads to reader trying to leave with a heavy heart and getting caught by Toph (and Zuko).
After that reader feels even more trapped, as if eyes are staring at her 24/7, even rummaging through her mind. Yet reader is powerless to do anything.
It was as if they would be tied down by the gaang even in death.
On the day of Sozinâs comet while the entire team was occupied, reader went along with Tophâs group to take down the Fire nation Armada. However reader recklessly tried to fight off fire nation soldiers on the roof of the ship. Reader fought hard, taking down 4 soliders only to be knocked off the ship into their eternal death.
After the gaang discovered readerâs weapon being washed ashore they internalized readers death. Sokka and Toph blamed themselves for your fatality, if only they hadnât been so caught up with taking over the ship they wouldâve been able to prevent this tragedy. The gaang held a funeral for reader, covering it entirely with flowers and placing it in what would become Republic City
TIMESKIP- New avatar movie time
It had been years, the entire team had moved on with their lives, maturing into a new version of themselves. But still deep in their hearts, they held a space for reader. Aang was all around the globe trying to restore the air temples, Katara was drowning in work in Republic City, Zuko was completing his duties as Fire Lord, Toph was busy teaching a whole new generation of metal benders and Sokka well he was being Sokka. All of them were in different places doing different things of course they wouldnât notice a cloaked person at the bar in Oasis spring carrying a shiny rope dart on their belt.
