Stratt: tries to make a going-off comfort gift and instead creates the most insensitive thing possible
Also Stratt seeing Grace wear the shirt in the video logs: oh good he likes the shirt
rocky always yells “enrichment for grace! enrichment for grace!” when he has a new invention to make the humans time more interesting on erid. grace, while appreciative, replies ‘I know I’m in a zoo enclosure but could we maybe not call it that? I feel like a bear getting thrown a pumpkin covered in peanut butter.’ rocky simply gives him a thumb, not wanting to explain that a significant amount of the population sees grace as the celebrity savior scientist who rocky keeps as a controversially young trophy wife and publicly lavishes in gifts
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
He’s absolutely building pools and taking the ladders away-
needy little rock
Remember when Lil Nas X beautifully explored his sexuality, seduced and killed the devil to the banger of all time, and instead of cheering on this openly gay and proud Black artist for his artistry and fighting back against respectability politics, suddenly said respectability politics was all the Queerest Place on the Internet cared about? Hm. Wonder what happened there.
Anyway I miss him and hope he's doing better with his mental health 🙏🏾
Like say what you want about "bad queer representation", but this was the song that made me openly and happily accept that I was bisexual. To see him up there Black and beautiful, making music that I love, absolutely killing it? Yeah. You couldn't tell me shit. This man made me proud to be out. "This will make them think we're evil for being gay" hey newsflash dawg-
Man I really do have some severe acne related triggers huh
feel this HARD but from a different angle as someone who has struggled with dermatillomania since we were in our early teens we started getting a TON of acne for stress related reasons and then compulsively picked at our skin and popped pimples leaving huge scars etc and still do it to this day and ofc hands all over your face all the time spreads oils and produces more acne its a vicious cycle and it wasnt one iota helped by our mother saying things like "stop picking at your face no one will ever love you with all those acne scars" we used to go through basically a bottle of concealer a month just to hide it all in high school and we FULLY were not remotely normal about it until we had met someone in our high school one year our seniot with severe acne who was literally chill abt it (also the first time we knowingly met another asexual person irl) and they ended up becoming valedictorian literally the coolest person weve ever known potentially
fuck beauty standards fuck the world trying to make people hate textured faces fuck this trend of making kids hate their bodies it and every one involved in advertising and promoting the industry in ways that actively damage the self image of people can all die in a fire forever
OH and even more important than fuck the "skincare" industry that made this monster
love people with textured skin now it is absolutely vital to love the people most harmed by this than it is to hate the people causing it
faces are diverse and unique the human body doesnt fit one mold and real human people have blemishes and acne and facial terrain and they are literally beautiful because of it its how nature made them
the sweetest girls in all of existence are made to think they're horrifying monsters, it's so fucked.
NO ACTUALLY THIS POST IS ABOUT REAL LIFE TRANS WOMEN
(to the tone of creep by radiohead) but i'm asleep. on mypillow
So I came home from work today and there was a kindle addressed to me that I did not remember ordering. I spent the afternoon trying to figure out how I accidentally purchased a kindle from Amazon, and when I came back from hanging out with Catherine, I told my parents, guys, you will not believe what I accidentally ordered for myself.
“Huh,” said Dad very casually. “Did you get charged for it?”
I spent the next five minutes checking my bank account and came back into the living room to announce, “No, I didn’t. Do you think it’s a mistake? But it has my name on it! what does this mean”
It was around the time that I started to sound panicked that Dad confessed to buying it for me (“I didn’t realize the mystery of it would be so terrifying”). Which was very, very sweet and slightly unfortunate because yesterday I purchased a replacement kindle for myself.
So anyway, we now have a family kindle
Me and Mom were talking about the kindle this morning, and she told me about how a few weeks ago, she got into her car only to discover that it had been mysteriously cleaned.
“But who would do this?” she said to my father who said he was sure he had no idea. “A student? A stranger? Someone who broke into my car to steal it but felt bad about how dirty it was? WHO??”
Eventually Dad was like, “Honey. It was clearly me.”
Poor Dad just wants to be a man who expresses his love through silent actions, but his family consists of panicked, suspicious women who apparently are very sure that strangers will ominously do nice things for us
I have a very rough idea in my head that I don't think I can clearly articulate beyond "And that concludes tonight's reports on German air forc—WHAT'S THIS? IT'S KING ARTHUR WITH A STEEL CHAIR"
IDK what this is about, but I want to know more.
This isn't exactly the same idea but it could be but there is more rattling around in here so:
The Blitz here manages to qualify as Britain's Darkest Hour, thus triggering the return of Arthur from the Realm Avalon.
He does not speak a lick of modern English. He speaks an unholy mishmash of Brittonic and Late Classical Latin.
(Honestly I can see the latter becoming a plot point if they manage to get their hands on a Roman Catholic priest to act as a translator. It wouldn't be a perfect arrangement, but probably better than anything else.)
Truthfully he probably gets mistaken for a madman.
Somehow manages to steal a Spitfire out from under the RAF's nose, proceeds to use it to bring down like half an enemy squadron on his own, then lands in a field in the middle of nowhere.
Police and RAF converge on his location on account of the whole "stealing a plane" thing. They eventually overwhelm him with sheer numbers, but he manages to knock out an impressive number of them in the process. I mean, come on. It's Arthur.
"a catholic priest" i mean yeah sure why not but JRRTOLKIEN himself was alive and a teacher at the time so go big or go home.
You know what sure why not let's just make literal real-life JRRT himself a character in this Arthurian return story, he deserves it.

I think the 'Fruit Sniffer' will be big on here
The claim is not new — the Miami Herald published its findings in summer 2025.
source for the congresswoman thing as well, because i hadn't heard about that:
The Trump administration has repeatedly attempted to restrict or thwart congressmembers’ access to ICE jails.

nothing will drive you crazy like having banged pots & pans about QAnon since like 2018/2019, getting a glimmer of hope that people might be starting to understand why in 2021, just to watch almost the entire political spectrum and internet culture as a whole fold its talking points into their own
PEOPLE I LIKED ON HERE are now saying "well shucks I guess they had a point". NO!!! No they didn't! John-John is still dead, covid is still real, vaccines still work, Obama was always a citizen, Biden won in 2020, and there is no basement at The Alamo Comet Ping-Pong.
What exactly did they "get right", other than generic shit no one ever disputed to begin with?
right, like, people try to hang their hat on pizzagate or Qanon “predicting” Epstein, as if Epstein wasn’t arrested for soliciting prostitution of a minor in 2006, years before either of them were a twinkling in 8chan’s eye. if you “predicted” Epstein in 2016-2018, you were more than a decade too late lol.
it’s reversing cause-and-effect.
the part of pizzagate & qanon that people dismiss has never been the “people who abuse minors exist” or “when a child-abuser is rich they have resources to do it / keep it secret” it was the “and therefore our entire society is controlled by a cabal of pedophile elites who keep a livery of children in underground lairs they can order like a pizza”.
2-YEAR CHEDDAR
from GRAFTON VILLAGE
I usually try to review cheeses virginally - that is, ones that I’ve never had before. In this case, this is a cheddar I’ve had many times before. But I couldn’t leave it off the blog, what with its obvious appeal to leather and rubber fetishists.
As far as cheddars go, Grafton’s 2-year aged isn’t going to shock you. It’s mild, light on the salt, with a slightly sweet and grassy flavour. It’s got a nice texture. It’s dense, more moist than I expected, and smooth.
So what is the deal with the gummi suit on this cheese anyway? Well, cheese has obviously been around a lot longer than fridges. Fresh cheeses like mozzarella are too moist to last very long outside of a cold place (bacteria and fungi do so love damp places), though I don’t think anyone was too mad about eating that stuff quickly. But cheeses that have been aged (and dried) more have some more preservation options, which is where cheese wax comes in. The wax is a physical barrier, stopping fungal spores from landing, and also blocks moisture and air, making the cheese a pretty unfriendly place to grow. Even drier cheeses can be bandaged in cheesecloth and then slathered in lard to preserve them while allowing some ventilation.
I gotta admit: hot wax isn’t really my thing. But cheesecloth bondage and grease… it has potential.
this site used to be awesome
