I’m in the need of new threads! So if anyone’s interested to interact with Kanon, can you like this? Btw as a warning, I’ll be very slow with these, so count with most of the starters to come out late august/september, but if you’re fine with that, hit that heart button!!

in terms of divinity, this was not his field of expertise. there was a general respect for the flora, all deities had it. however, he, himself, did not care for plants. he did not care for flowers or anything else in that matter. in fact, he isn’t too sure why he had stumbled into this ceremony in the first place. was it the call to find a sense of familiarity, or the subtle curiosity to witness a new location —- he did not know. but it certainly made him reminisce.

a celebration dedicated to the growth of a seed was something the god of nature would have loved to partake in. kurowli could practically hear their voice now, lilted and serene, echoing pointless facts about the kind of blossoms that grew around here. if not, then in an obnoxious lecture over kurowli’s lack of care for such a humble tradition.

he huffs, quite relieved they were not actually present.

among the masses, among the blur of unknown faces, only one was distinguishable enough and he could not help but frown at them. the flimsy girl looked as if she would topple over in any second carrying a bucket load of water from the lake’s surface. or worse, collapse due to the weight she was pulling. 

“— it is no surprise that someone like you would be here.” his voice is rather gruff as he approaches kanon, her struggles impossible to hide from him. “and you are as foolish as ever ! if you need assistance, then say so. you would only have yourself to blame if injury happens.”

without warning, kurowli snatches the bucket from trembling hands and into his own. a rather harsh act that had spilled some water over the rim and onto the ground, accidentally. “give me this. i will carry it for you.”

Kanon still had the war that passed not too long ago clearly in her mind. The people back then didn’t take care of the animals and plants anymore, and all that was left in everyone’s minds, was to fight the other kingdoms. It was horrible and she truly was glad that all of that was over now.

Of course she didn’t forget that one kind stranger, that helped her out back then, when she was lost once again. He even did let her accompany him on a quest, and that even though in her opinion, she was more a burden than any real help to him. The more of a surprise it was, when she met him once again, with the same thing happening again. - Him helping her out.

She may be clumsy, but she sure wasn’t stupid. Despite his harsh way of talking, she could sense the kindness behind his words.

“A-ah! Kurowli-san! I was hoping to see you again! You look different than last time...” Of course he did, she did too. It was maybe a stupid thing to mention, but it just was the first thought she had when seeing him once again.

With an embarrassed laugh she gave him a smile, there was no way she would forget to thank him for his kindness. “Fufu, there you are... helping me out again. I’m really sorry for giving you all those troubles, but... thank you! By the way... Is there a reason why you’re here? Do you want to see the tree grow as well?”

Oh, her name was Kanon. Good to know! She really did seem like a shy, passive girl. It very much countered the dominating, loud nature that embodied Miu. “I see! Matsu-bay-ra! Get it? Like the ocean where jellyfish live? Hah! I’m good, aren’t I?” Jokes aside, Kanon did bring up a good point. As much as Miu wanted to propose herself as the judge, that probably wasn’t ideal to have her as the singular judge. Albeit, it was tempting.

“Uhh.. Like hell I know! Why don’t we judge each other’s outfits? Ya know, rank it out of ten. You can do that, can’t you? Or are you afraid of losing? The competition’s all out in the open here! It’s no use backing out now.” Well, it wasn’t like anyone else aside from these two knew it was happening.

“Fuee...? Matsu-bay... what?!” This other girl really was bold and confident. Even though Kanon was a little scared of her, she also kind of admired her self confidence. Especially for someone as self conscious as herself, it was a lot to be envious about. She was very beautiful, tall, and had a really nice body as well. There was no way Kanon could compare to that, yet she really wanted to go through with that contest, huh?

“Umm... Could it be that you just want to show off your outfits to someone? I-I mean, I’m fine with that, we could go change and show our outfits to each other, I guess...” There was no way she could back out anyway, right? “Alright! I will try my best to not waste your time then!” Was her battle cry before she chose the dress that reminded her of a jellyfish and disappeared into the changing room.

as she began to sing, he took the opportunity to climb the nearest tree, digging his talons into the mossy bark up to it’s branches. he needed to position himself on higher ground, create a vantage point, in order to go through with the plan in mind — quite a shame time had not allowed them to be on the same page. 

with enough of a height and a perfect viewpoint too, he settles upon a strong branch, lowering to his haunches and keeping balance. sharp eyes look down upon kanon, watching her work her melodic magic. she remained alone down there for the time being, becoming a bait for these monstrous rabbits; kurowli could not help but wonder how she was faring. but the thought is short-lived and quickly dissipates as she calls his name.

the plan was in motion and much faster than he anticipated.

having jumped from the branch with claws outstretched, they easily sink into the thick coat of the rabbit and draws blood. it squeals, a high pitched sound that cuts through their ears. but the damage already done was still not enough to put an end to it’s life. kurowli growls, disappointment etching onto his features — the binge chungi now thrashing about and attempting to flee.

“quick ! check my bag and throw me the rope that is inside of it ! ” he nods towards the base of the tree he had climbed, where a green messenger bag laid. “it’s trying to get away, we can’t let that happen.”

“Y-yes!” She responded to Kurowli’s command. It was the least she could do while he was holding down that giant monster after all. Quickly she rushed over to her partner’s bag to take out the rope. “A-ah, b-but I’m not really good in throwing things, b-but... I try! Please catch this, Kurowli-san!” 

Forunately, the adrenaline she felt in this moment, seemed to be enough to help her throw the rope just well enough for Kurowli to catch. Wasn’t there any other way she could help him though? There had to be... That was when she noticed, that next to her singing voice, she also obtained another handy skill for a situation like this. 

“Ah, umm, please fall asleep, Mr. Monster Rabbit! It won’t hurt so much then t-too!” To be honest, Kanon still had no idea how she was able to use those magic spells, but since ever she turned into her new form,  she was blessed with those powers as well. Of course she didn’t ever use any of these abilities to harm someone yet though...

“Oh, I think i-it worked, thank you for holding him still! D-do you think it’s all done yet or...” No, he had to kill it right? “Fueee...” Was all she said to finish her previous sentence and turned away. She didn’t want to watch how someone or something got killed, be it animal or monster...

“i see.” a composer of music, together with as a group — that is what a band was. it was relieving, nonetheless, to know that she was in no form of danger. he then hums in thought, figuring that this girl may prove to be useful after all. if she could attract fish, then she could attract rabbits just fine. surely. “ — call me kurowli.”

up until they had reached the heart of the forest, the god had been quietly formulating methods that would make short work of this quest. they only needed one kill — would a sneak attack be best or perhaps a more direct method ? the strength and spells that came along with this mystical body opened up new possibilities. but there seemed to be a shortage of binge chungi.

 “you may be right …” he looks around, turning his head to and fro, searching for indications or clues that a giant rabbit had been in the area. no large footprints, no chewed trees or hints of such. for being a frequent predators, they were quite scarce. 

“once you manage to lure one in i will —” his sentence becomes cut with the sudden loud rustle of leaves, just a good distance away from them. kurowli immediately takes on a defensive position, a feathered arm extending in front her. “did you hear that ? there might be one here after all.”

“Fuee!” Now that the monster must have been definitely near by, Kanon got a little scared. It wasn’t like she did know Kurowli too well by now, but she wasn’t a really distrusting person to begin with. So, if he would say he would take care of the rest as long as she sings, he surely will be able to do that without any of them getting harmed, right? 

“A-alright, I try to let it come here now, I hope you’re ready, Kurowli-san!” That’s when a soft but loud enough voice started to sing a melody. She didn’t even use any words or any of that sort, it was just a simple melody she brought loudly and softly enough across the whole forest. 

When she noticed how the leaves of the bushes nearby rustled again, she got even more nervous, but tried her hardest not to faint and keep on singing. Usually she would look forward to see any kind of rabbit, but not if they were giant monsters that would attack people. All of that was a rather dangerous and scary mission, wasn’t it... 

Everything happened so fast after that, Kanon barely could take a breather after the giant creature came forth. “Ah-AAH! Kurowli-san! I-it’s your call now!” Not that she thought about their plan in more detail... she sure hoped that her singing didn’t attract any more of those beasts. They could maybe beat one of those, but what if a whole monster rabbit family was on their way here now? 

“I... I really think we should hurry, too!”

useless ! a hand raises to pinch his the bridge of his nose as he closes his eyes. never hunted, no weapons — never mind the fact that she is small and frail too. in fact, he wouldn’t be surprised if she only came along to reap the rewards without an ounce of work. one eye peeks opens and focuses on her once more, fingers still on his nose, however tense shoulders now loosen. 

the poor girl could not be at fault nor blamed for. appearances should not be used for speculation. in the least, she possessed spirit and the will to try. that alone pushed kurowli to leave frustrations behind and accept her presence. 

“a … band ? did you mean, bind ? ” recovering now, he dips his head slightly to the side, a show of latent curiosity. is she in some form of trouble ? it made no sense. how would a voice, tuned for music, bring anyone into a bind ? he shakes his head, “no, forget it — if you say your singing would help, then i’ll believe you.”

“what kind of songs are you versed in ? we can discuss our tactics as we walk.” he continues, taking a first step towards the forests of airaisaval hoping she’d follow, “but first, what is your name, girl ? ”

The timid girl could notice, that the other wasn’t too fond of her offer to help. The more grateful she was for him letting her though.

His comment about her band did confuse her a little though. Did he not know what that was? You’d never know for sure around here. Maybe a quick explanation would help! “Bind...? Um, no. We played music together, I wasn’t the singer though, I only sang some little parts in some of our songs.” She was the drummer of her band recently, though it’s not like it really mattered right now. She had to try her best to seem confident in her ability to help out! “But, since I became a siren, I did notice that when I sing, I do attract fish! I-I mean I only tried to sing around water so far, b-but maybe it would lure in some rabbits as well...” She wasn’t even sure of that, but it  was worth a try for sure. There wasn’t much else she could do instead, or at least she didn’t know anything.

When the stranger asked her for her name, she saw no reason not to share it, so while nodding her head, she started walking next to him. “Umm... I’m Kanon, Kanon Matsubara... What about you mister?”

It didn’t need that long for them to reach the deeper part of the forest. But unilt now, there was no sight of any monster rabbits. “The request paper did say there are too many of the giant monster rabbits around, right? Do you think they’re hiding right now? Or maybe we have to enter the forest even deeper... Um, not that I doubt that you’re experienced in hunting, but can you maybe tell me how you plan to target them? I think that would be important to know... Well, if I manage to let them follow the sound of my voice that is...”

a hint of annoyance flickers across his features at such a preposterous opinion voiced, but quickly winks from existence in the blink of an eye. rabbits, while ‘ fluffy and cute ’, were also valued and delectable. hunting the large and very populous binge chungi — who caused more harm than their smaller, less monstrous counterparts — was both a personal gain and a good deed in written form upon this quest.

of course he was going to hunt them. the opportunity couldn’t be missed.

he closes the paper into a simple fold and tucks it away into the bag by his waist. it was then that kurowli finally gives the other his attention, gold eyes looking down upon them — a young, cowering girl whom seemed like a siren from appearance alone. and yet, sirens were known for their deceiving behaviors. who’s to say this demeanor was not … false ?

“if you wish to help me, i won’t object. however, i do demand that you cease that incessant whimpering — ” he cuts himself off with a sigh, tugging at the strap of his bag. his tone was rough and the last thing he needed was her bursting into tears. instead, he switches the topic with a softer approach, “are you good at setting traps ? scouting ? we need to think of a plan.”

She should have known that there wasn’t really anything she could do to be a big help. Even when playing the drums in her band, she often ended up breaking her drum sticks. Still, it always was a big wish of hers to be useful to others. Becoming someone people could rely on, that’s why she would do her best to not be too much of a burden. Even though she was already aware, that she wouldn’t be the able to kill the animals herself, physically and mentally not.

“Yes, thank you very much for letting me help! I will do my best, promise! But... I apologize, I really never hunted before! M-maybe I could set up traps if it’s an easy one to handle! I’m very sorry again, I’m not used to any of this here...!” Politely she bowed down a few times to the stranger. Hopefully that wouldn’t make him walk away from her yet. A war, hunting, super natural beings... all of this was too much to handle for her at the moment. After all she came from a normal modern place, where her only worry was not messing up the drum parts in their next live show.

“M-maybe I could do something to lure them into the trap though! I’m in a band and since I’m in this form, my singing voice even improved a little! So... would that be some help?” For now she had to think of how to help, only after she could tell him that she needed his help with being lost. Besides his owl like appearance, he wasn’t didn’t seem too scary or mean either. That made her a little hopeful for later at least.

    “Weird? I wouldn’t say so! You look.. swimmingly nice. Pfftt, get it? Hahaha!” She couldn’t help and laugh at her own pun, albeit it probably wasn’t the most creative joke in the world. Still, her words were spoken lightly and she shook her head to assert she wasn’t serious about the matter.

    “It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Yukiko Amagi. To answer your question.. Flying does feel weird. I’m not used to being off the ground. I haven’t attempted it enough to master it– I’m a little afraid, honestly. It must be the same with you and swimming. Have you taught yourself how to swim, then?” Even though it was something her friends would probably be fascinated with, Yukiko held hesitation.

“Swimmingly nice? Fufufu! I do get it...!” she giggled with the other girl. It’s been a while since she could laugh about something here. In a situation like this, most people weren’t up for any jokes, and it was understandable, but still, Kanon couldn’t help but think what of a really refreshing encounter this was.

“Ah, we seem to be in the same age too, that’s a relief!” Yukiko definitely seemed like someone she wanted to befriend, so she decided to take the courrage and ask her directly: “W-would it be okay for me to call you Yukiko-chan? You can call me Kanon too of course! And haha... about the swimming part... I’m really clumsy so I did fall into the lake by accident, and when I was scared and thought I was going to drown for sure, somehow my instincts started to help me out! B-but I don’t know if it would be the same for you, so please don’t try anything risky! I ask myself if we even will stay in this form now... isn’t it strange how we just changed into those bodies without even noticing it?”

As usual for the blue haired girl, she really got lost again. She already got lost on a daily basis on her way home from school, so how was she supposed to get used to a complete new spirale world building? The only thing she could find that looked like civilization would be nearby, was this big board with a lot of requests pinned on it. There she also already found another person, standing in front of one certain paper. Shyly Kanon decided to peek over, to see what kind of work that person was willing to do, and the request did sound quite scary.

“Fueee!... A-ah, excuse me, mister... B-but, you don’t really intend to hunt rabbits, right? They’re fluffy and cute...” Though those were giant monster rabbits, so they probably were more scary and dangerous than anything else. Still, Kanon didn’t really want to kill any animals, especially since she had a friend back home that hold over 10 pet rabbits in her household. 

Then again, she was lost, and she would need to depend on someone to find the way back ‘home’. And since this stranger was the only person she could really depend on for now, she knew she had to make a decision. Either she would walk on and risk to get even more lost, or she would ask him if she could keep him company until they reach the next city.

“Ah... I... I can help, I mean. I don’t want to hurt anyone, but the rabbits do hurt many people and other forest animals, right? S-so... If you intend to accept this request, i-is it okay for me to help?”

    In the past, Yukiko herself had been involved with her own sorts of conflict.  Her career itself at the Amagi Inn tapped into this, arguably. Still, she wasn’t heavily involved in the events around Spirale to hold a public statement to this. For now, all she could do was stare down at her own appearance and ponder. The flowers and branches in her hair blended well with brunette locks and her wings glistened even more as she stood next to the body of water within Spirale. Somehow, it felt comforting. She preferred her normal self, though.

    The water was splashing once more– Certainly it wasn’t from the waves of the wind alone. The priestess knelt down next to the water, spotting a face come out beneath the blue splashes. Even though she expected it, Yukiko was slightly startled– She let out a little gasp and stood up to take a step back. “E-Excuse me. I didn’t mean to stare. Say.. Your tail is beautiful, if you don’t mind my saying.”

Kanon didn’t expect anyone to approach and talk to her. So once she heard a voice of a strangler, it startled her a bit. Fortunately, it was a nice girl that complimented her. What a nice and fresh breeze in war surroundings here. 

“Ah, th-thank you! You really think so? I think I look a little weird... B-but your wings are very pretty as well! Is it difficult to fly? I still do have my troubles with getting used to swimming, but that was because I couldn’t swim well before either, haha...” Well, it was unpolite to talk to someone without introducing yourself, right? 

“O-oh right, by the way, I’m Kanon Matsubara, what’s your name?”

“I’ve seen Maruyama-san and Okusawa-san, but nobody else besides them. They might be around here as well, I wouldn’t worry too much.” Even though she said that, Sayo could understand Kanon’s worry. The members of that group could easily get distracted by something, or get themselves into a dangerous situation with the current state. To ease Kanon, it would be nice if they all appeared here soon.

“If that’s what you want to do, it’s alright with me.” She may have not exactly shown it, but that was a very nice offer of Kanon to give her. In situations like these, it’s becoming more difficult to tell friend apart from foe. Being alone was probably a dangerous decision to make, who knew what else was lurking out there. “Would you like to look around for them?” That’s what Sayo assumed Kanon would like to do. “… Or do you want to go into the water in case someone approaches us?” May as well get her opinion on the matter, she was the one who suggested they stay together after all. 

“You’ve seen Misaki-chan?!” She was looking for her the whole time already, since she messaged her to meet up with the whole band. Too bad, that her sense of direction was too bad  to even accomplish a simple task like that. “W-was she alright? I know that Aya-chan is, I saw her before too...”

“U-umm...” So Sayo was leaving the decision on what to do next to her? It made her a little anxious and nervous, but she was determined to protect her friends and be there for them after all. So she pulled herself together and tried to make the most wise choice for the situation they were stuck in. 

“I... I think the lake is pretty safe for us, compared to the ground, right? I... I didn’t get so used to my new form though, so I’m still not the fastest in water... What about you, Sayo-chan? W-well, if that’s alright with you, I think we should try to cross the lake and enter a nearby city for now? We could get more supplies there and maybe some of the others had the same idea and we’ll walk into them...”

hagumi’s face turned worried as she thought about the rest of harohapi. she hadn’t seen kokoron or kaoru-kun or mii-kun since they had started the nice dream, but she had assumed they were alright. people didn’t get hurt in nice dreams, right?

「 u-um, hagumi…doesn’t know. she’s just been playing around…she thought she’d see everyone soon… 」

“Like a jellyfish?”  Now she had a strange image in her head. What if her mermaid tail would actually look more like the many arms a jellyfish had... that would look creepy, as much as she loved jellyfishes, she was glad she didn’t turn into one. 

“Fufu, thank you Haugumi-chan, you look super pretty and cute too! I know Kokoro-chan will say the same too!” Speaking of them, seemed like Hagumi didn’t know where the rest of Hallo Happy World were either.

“Y-you don’t have to worry! Let’s stay together, okay? It’ll be more safe that way!” She would protect Hagumi, and Hagumi could help her not getting lost. “I’m sure we will meet the others sooner or later, I think Miskai-chan is looking for us too, so eventually, we’ll meet up with everyone!”

Unfortunate side effects of being a fairy: She floats! A lot!

Sometimes they’re little things, like her feet lifting off the ground when she daydreams. Other times she’ll take the stairs and find herself walking up two or three imaginary steps before floating gently down to earth. But the worst is when she goes to sleep, when she wakes up in the living room with a blanket around her shoulders and no bed to support her. It’s like sleepwalking, only while flying — which sounds cool in concept, but in practice? Kinda freaky! 

Maybe it’s a her thing. She hasn’t seen anyone else do this, and it’s not like she’s the only faekin here, so… Is she really just that bad at being a fairy? 

Aya rolls onto her side, plucking at the grass with fitful, pensive tugs. She had come to this lakeside park to escape her more worrisome thoughts, but they only seemed to multiply the longer she was here. At least the weather was nice. The sun was warm, and the breeze was gentle, and it’s not like she’s had a very restful sleep these past few days…

…When she next awakens, she’s face-to-face with her own reflection on a clear, glassy lake. Aya flails in midair, twirling upright until she can see where she is compared to the rest of the lake.

And where she is… is nowhere. Aya chokes.

“ OH MY GOD, IS ANYBODY THERE? HELLO? HELLO? ”

Kanon was still hiding in water for any potential trouble that could approach her. The whole war thing was way too scary for her to deal with, and even though she was supposed to meet up with Hello Happy World, she had no idea where to even begin to come to the right path again. It almost was like her sense of direction would get worse the longer she stayed and hide here. If only someone she would know or could trust would walk pass by here... But how likely was that, especially with a war going on.

Just  when she felt like crying about how useless she was, she heard a scream. Wait, she did recognize this voice. “Aya-chan?!” As fast as she could, Kanon started diving down, she was a pretty good swimmer since she became a siren. Which was funny, because before she turned into one, she was very clumsy in water. However, now wasn’t the time to think about that the past.

Once she spotted someone struggling in water, she rushed as fast as she could in that direction. “Fueee! Aya-chan! Don’t worry, I got you!” Was what she said once Kanon could get a grip of her friend. 

“L-listen, you shouldn’t move so much or else it’ll be more difficult to get you to the surface again...” It was harder than it looked like to rescue someone in water, now she finally knew how the little mermaid must have felt in the tale. But once she finally could help the pink idol to get to the hard ground again, she took a rest on a nearby big stone.

“Fuee... That was scary! H-how did you even end up there? A-are you alright, Aya-chan? Can you breathe?”
