PSA to Naturalized Citizens in the US

Some time ago I went to request a new ss card on the social security website and it said I wasn't a citizen despite being naturalized over 15 years ago as a kid. Then found out my parents and siblings have the same problem.

If you're a naturalized citizen of the US check on the Social Security website

You're unfortunately going to have to make an account if you don't have one and confirm your identity.

When you're done request a new card (even if you already have yours) and it'll tell you what the status is

There's an issue where some people were never told they had to change that status with SS after naturalization and that it doesn't automatically change

I'm of the belief that no one should be illegal and fuck ICE all the way, but this is a way to make sure that my fellow immigrants, documented or not, are safe

A Love Letter to Soft Pastels

I love the feeling of soft pastels.

How it glides over the paper, the dust on my hands. Blowing it of my paper to reveal the artwork underneath. I love how the color stains my skin, staying there for days and weeks, nothing erasing the dust clinging to my fingertips.

I love how soft pastels blend together on the paper, transforming in front of your eyes. I love the control of it. I love how the color spreads as far as the eye can see. Having to be careful that the dust doesn’t stain my room in colors.

There is nothing as beautiful as a good soft pastel. The colored residu it leaves on your fingers before you can blink.

The feeling of holding a soft pastel is one of the greatest in the world.

So, I had a thought. Vader is the Dutch word for father. And maybe there is an equivalent language to Dutch in the Star Wars Galaxy.

What if Dart Sidious named Anakin Darth Vader to control him. So that every time Darth Vader hears his name he is reminded of what he lost and cannot have anymore.

Or maybe George Lucas named Darth Vader 'Darth Vader' as some kind of foreshadowing, that all along, Darth Vader was a father.

I don't know if someone thought of this before, but it was stuck in my head and I had to let it out into the world.

Studio Ghibli just brings back the wonder in your life.

So, first some background. My university requires its students to live in these designated student campuses around the city. Every week this woman, who we affectionately call 'The Bread Lady', comes around and leaves loaves of bread (which she collected from different bakeries around the city) at the campuses.

Now, just now, she came around in my building hallway with a shopping cart filled with boxes. Some had pastries inside them and some had these books. She rang my bell and when I opened the door she introduced herself with her moniker. Then she said I could grab a treat while asking for my name. She wrote it down inside one of those books and handed it to me.

It turned out to be a Bible.

I don't know why, but this made me so unexpectedly, ridiculously happy. It felt like the greatest gift I had ever received in my life.

I'm just so, so happy with it, and I don't even know why.

My friend bought a lightsaber at Comic-Con and they showed me it today.

Of course we immediately began doing Star Wars reenactments.

So, when we were doing the Obi-Wan vs Anakin battle (you know the one), just after they ‘cut’ Anakin’s/my legs off, they said:

“Anakin, you have lost your leg privileges.”
