How about I’d just never touch your art ever again? Not like i was planning to tag it as ship art anyway but i don’t vibe with randomly threatening violence on strangers.

my favorite rare ship trope is character who is externally the most average person ever (if not better) who also happens to have very fucked up morals that theyve buried all their life and then they are pushed to the brink of near-insanity and all of those morals resurface and turn them into the most disgusting awful disgraceful person ever that you do NOT want to hang around

I think it's incredibly important to remember that bad people can still be likeable people. And that in fact, a lot of bad people are deliberately likeable, and use their likeability as armor.

It's harder to disagree with, or disapprove of, or convince other people that a likeable person is a bad one. It's so much easier to discredit your victims and sow doubt when everyone likes you.

I see a lot of media criticism of movies and tv shows at the moment, where people deem villains as 'too likeable' and 'too human' and 'its too hard to see him as a villain because of X and Y.'

And that is the whole fucking point.

Bad people often cloak themselves in likeability in order to escape the consequences of their actions and choices. Bad people are not always doing bad things 24/7.

The double standard some people have when it comes to doms/subs in kink

Could media benefit from appealing to more to girls and women? Personally, yes. But I also think there's a fair amount of women that just like feeling sexy and desirable in the medium they interact with in a way not many shows that are actually aimed at women try to do.(cause beleive it or not some women do occasionally indulge in various kinks that straight men might like).

That and how there's this weird high exceptions that some other women place on women's media to be 'clean' and not at all problematic(which usually means not raunchy escapism, taboo fetish or dare we say men that like women).

Like I think their should a whole study on this.

Even just thinking about it I STILL hate the whole, “well the characters didn’t consent to what the author is doing.”

What am I suppose to even do with that line of logic? At what point is it made clear that a fictional character has agency if everything they’re doing(including consensual moments) is all literally all because an author or artist made them do these things? Do you as the writer/artist just sit awkwardly in your own workplace staring at a picture of your blorbo waiting until their disembodied voice tells "yes, you can in fact dress me in skimpy bikini armor."

Picture me this:

Two characters are talking. Character A is a little down about a recent failure(a fixable one at that) and is shutting people out, Character B notices this and tries to help A back-up on their feet, offering empathy and compassion for A.

A keeps shutting B out and continuously walks over B like they're shit. B tries to be as understanding and offer advice and encouragement because they know what it's like to fail, but is still treated like shit. B gets frustrated at A, yells at them because yeah A messed up, but that's no excuse to treat your friend like they mean nothing and runs off.

A realizes they were an asshole. B cools off and tries to talk to A again. A apologizes to B and picks up where left off to do better, and everything is all good between these two characters, and they move one to be better people by the end.

Now then: Take a wild guess as to which one is villainized by the fanbase.
