Genetics
Like mother like daughter. Like father like son.
Someone hasn't been paying attention to Hiccup's acrobats plus the kid is 5 give him a break.
Y’all keep saying “homecoming can’t be canon cuz Toothless didn’t recognize hiccup in the movie” like, did y’all even watch homecoming? Toothless never saw Hiccup in person the whole time. Not once. He only smelled him through the Toothless costume. Hence why he didn’t recognize him in the movie until he smelled him.
Y’all just love to come up with excuses to hate Homecoming and The Hidden World cuz you’re immature and heartbroken about the dragons leaving.
Oh I'm sorry you love Homecoming and we don't and so we're heartbroken? Omg you're so mature for liking the short while calling us immature for disliking something you like! You must be a GOD! I am so sorry for having a different opinion but we can't all be flies that are attracted to garbage like you 😂
the thing about stoick though! by giving him credit for touching a dragon and changing the world, because it was him who had to change berk while hiccup was unconscious. it was him who had tell his tribe that his own son, the kid everyone looked down on, was more right than he and all his wisdom was.
stoick didn’t touch toothless in the cove, but hiccup and gobber and astrid mythologized him by giving him that special moment, the moment he never had in life.
also, the haddock family creating legends of their own history is the most cressida cowell thing to happen
Except that still wasn't the story told in the pageant. It was basically Hiccup was just Stoick's weak son and Stoick was the hero. Why is it right to treat someone else as garbage when Stoick had his own achievements? Hiccup was NOT in on this and he was just as appalled until the disaster of a play was over. Hiccup has lost a lot and now you want us to accept that despite all his efforts it was RIGHT to just give away whatever he achieved, without his CONSENT, to his dad?? Berk where the only ones who where supposed to know "the truth about dragons" as stated in the third film. The whole archipelago knows about Hiccup and Toothless as stated in the artbook yet Berk is the going to be the oblivious one?
Ok, so I never usually make rants but I just finished watching HTTYD: Homecoming and I have to say that it was cute and I liked it a lot. Hiccup and Astrid where adorable especially with their kids and how proud of them they are with everything that they do. Zephyr and Nuffink where just adorable I loved them to pieces and Nuffink’s accent is just the best thing in the whole world. Toothless being a dragon dad was the best and the nightlights are just the cutest things in the WORLD!!! But I do have one complaint and that was having Gobber and Astrid completely erase Hiccup’s standing in bringing peace with dragons and vikings and giving that to Stoick(even though in the first movie he pretty much abandons Hiccup when he found out about Toothless) like I get they where trying to honor Stoick’s memory too, but they could have done it in a way that he was a man who stood by his son and came to the understanding too and help Hiccup to get dragons and vikings to live together, but instead they made Hiccup go back to how he was treated in the first movie as a wimp and made Stoic the hero. I love Stoick don’t get me wrong but making false history and telling someone who was bullied and belittled all his life relive that and not get credit for something that actually changed Berk for the better is just wrong and I bet you 100% if Stoick was there he would not have stood for any of it. It was a cute sort it really was but I just hate that whole part to be quite honest. Anyways sorry for the rant but I just needed to get this off my chest.
What a cheap ass message. Just because Astrid and Gobber didn't contribute anything historical doesn't mean they should drag Hiccup to their boring low ass level. What a bunch of selfish pricks and they're supposed to be Hiccup's "family"
HTTYD3: Berk can live without dragons
HTTYD Homecoming: Dragons save the day after Berk messes up
What is it
What is it
DREAMWORKS WHAT IS IT
I thinks it’s just a bonus
Pfft another chance to ruin Hiccup and Toothless story then? What's next? Valka and Cloudjumper beat Drago?
The thing about Astrid
People getting mad that Astrid is know as just Hiccup's girlfriend yet most of what she does or her scenes are just revolved around Hiccup. She had a moment to shine in the second film when Hiccup ditched her, but came off as this girl trying to find her boyfriend and provoking a mad man to attack Berk, and being unapologetic about it btw. Can you honestly blame people for thinking that? Her best scenes are her punching people while cool doesn't mean much to the plot. She's literally a mary sue with little development or backstory Annabeth, Princess Leia, Jessie, these are support charcters that have love interests but still manage to be great characters and stand on their own. They aren't always sure they have their moments of vulnerability yet they overcome them and grow stronger. Astrid had none of these and that's why she's known as just Hiccup's girlfriend she was a boring character that nobody could relate to, nothing to overcome, and had little impact unless you ship her with Hiccup because that's where she shines best, being Hiccup's girl because that's what the film always shows when she's on screen. Even some of the official descriptions about Astrid start off with her being Hiccup's girl. The series doesn't count because not everybody knows it or has access to it.
I do think Hiccup is selfish in HTTYD3, but not in the way the movie is trying to tell me. The movie is saying that Hiccup is selfish because he refuses to let Toothless go, that he has him trapped, that he cherishes a platonic bond so that means he has to grow up.
But none of that is true. Hiccup has never kept Toothless trapped.
But Hiccup is selfish not concerning Toothless, but because of him.
Because Hiccup constantly puts Toothless over his people. It physically hurts to watch the end of HTTYD2, with everyone celebrating as he faces them for the first time as their leader, looking to a bright new future with a modern chief...because you realize that within a year he's going to:
- ask them to abandon their home (which will be given no weight at all)
- forget about Ruffnut who is trapped with Grimmel to instead go searching for Toothless
- fail at giving motivational speeches that don't sum up to "since I made the mistake of bringing every single dragon to Berk, you all should feel bad and help me hide the dragons"
- is never actually shown being a chief? like, besides him standing in front of everyone, we never see him solving any everyday problems
- to go back to that speech, I absolutely hate that when the people are naturally panicked, he kind of just snaps at them, "have you seen my house???" that is not the response of a good chief
This all would be okay if they showed that he improved by the end of the movie, but apparently all that was important in Hiccup's development post Toothless was his marriage and kids.
It's like he and the movie forgot what Stoick dying last year meant. It meant that Hiccup has responsibilities now. It means he has people to take care of.
And the thing is, it's not out of character. He straight up says in HTTYD2, "All those speeches and planning and running the village, that's his thing." Which is fine. It's in character, but it's something that he should have matured into. It's something he should have tried at. But he didn't.
Hiccup is not entirely to blame for bringing the dragons back to Berk. If you think it was a dumb move than the ones who helped him rescue them are no better and contributed just as much. Artbook states Berk where all on board with the dragons moving in hence why Hiccup said "If we want to live with our dragons" it was the people's choice as well. Not all of the dragons came from the rescue some of them paid tribute to the Alpha and decided to stay. You make it sound like he asked them to abandon their home for the sake of just abandoning it when his intentions where to keep them ALL safe but sure asking them to move for their protection is so "selfish"
Oh and if you're gonna blame someone for choosing to look for Toothless instead of Ruffnut blame Astrid

Astrid the boss of the relationship? Please... she couldn't even get Hiccup to listen to her most of the time he still does whatever she tells him not to
Hiccup in the tv and movies: Displays incredible strength holding unto the Lightfury with his and Grimmel's weight with one arm while unbuckling Grimmel's device also holds half his dragon's weight with one leg. Beats guys twice his weight. Does acrobatic moves with one leg. Runs just as fast as anybody even with a metal leg. Can use a shield, a bow, a sword and a knife as weapons.
Hiccup depicted by fans: Can't lift anything also clumsy asf even though he never even tripped on his own feet or fumble after the first film. Has "poor coordination" even though the way he and toothless fly requires great coordination. Let's make him weak, uncoordinated, and absolutely incapable just to glorify how strong Astrid is cuz yeah. Fuck character development and the story of how Hiccup learns to stand on his own only Astrid should be the strong capable one. What Hiccup is athletic now? No fuck that we can't let him be athletic and capable only Astrid because she'll lose everything special about her.
Hiccup already scared about Toothless leaving him when a villager said he wasn't coming back
Astrid: WHaT DiD YOu ExPEct?
Basically felt like she was telling Hiccup that Toothless would have left you and you should have expected him not to come back. Such support.. bet she wanted that dragon gone so Hiccup would finally prioritize her
If you're triggered by what I said I'm not sorry (like Astrid see?). If you're a snowflake and I've hit a nerve, that's on you. It's my opinion and I'm not sorry for having one especially regarding a fictional character. You're welcome to get triggered but I'm still gonna do what I want to do. Cheers!
Three Times Astrid abandoned Hiccup to die in THW
1. When Grimmel burned his hut down. The girl who had the only fire proof armor straight up left him, who had no armor on, with a madman, his poisonous dragons and a burning house without even checking on him or anybody else. She didn't even look back. Fearless my ass she was the first to leave. I understand the danger she was in but it really looked like she didn't even bother to help the others.
2. Didn't do squat when Hiccup was thrown off the Light furry. Straight up lauged as he plummeted to his doom even though he would have caught her if the roles where reversed.
3. When they attacked Grimmel's base and only Hiccup remained what did she do? Just ran to her dragon, didn't even bother, didn't even look for him. Didn't look back. Nothing. Time to change that "fearless" title
This is why I hated her in thw. I used to ship hiccstrid but the hidden world reinforced my growing doubts on her character and when the directors said she's unapologetic in nature it really hit me. Drago coming to Berk and Grimmel capturing Toothless all started with her and she gives 0 fucks. Have your opinions on her character I'll have mine
I love how Dean basically confirmed it took Hiccup 6 years to realize Astrid is his biggest support. Basically her support was invisible to him for years probably because of how much she bitches and he probably just tunes her out. HAHAHA
Astrid: Is very critical and dismissive of Hiccup's plans and of others
Also Astrid
Plans fail most of the time and almost never acknowledges her mistakes (Made Berk a target for Drago) and lets her bf take the blame for her decisions (Let's Hiccup say it was his fault when they followed Toothless when in reality it was her fucking idea) Too prideful to even be in a relationship hence Hiccup's low esteem (Can't even say I love you back pfft or maybe she really doesn't)
