pro-tip for white people in fandoms: if

you only care abt poc in your fandom when other fans are calling them slurs and it’s easy for you to understand that behaviour as being racist

you’re only willing to listen to the opinions of poc outside of your fandom when they’re not criticizing your white fave

you care more abt appearing progressive and “woke” than you do abt actually learning abt the nuances of race issues

you wait for poc to educate you on these issues instead of actively seeking knowledge

you don’t actually do anything to correct your mistakes and modify your behaviour after a poc explicitly tells you what you’ve been doing wrong

then you’re not being an ally and you need to seriously question whether you’re upholding or dismantling racism
