TIL that the reason lead levels in children’s blood have dropped 85% in the past thirty years is because of an unknown scientist who fought car companies to end leaded gasoline. He also removed it from paint, suggested its removal from pipes, and campaigned for the removal of lead solder from cans.

Yep. It also correlates extremely strongly with an increasing decrease of violent crime. One of the symptoms of low level constant lead exposure is increased aggression and volatility.
“Unknown scientist”? That was Clair Cameron Patterson.
Gas companies are still so mad at him he’s “unknown scientist”, know his name
Daily reminder that health and safety standards like these are what politicians mean when they talk about “deregulation.”
Patterson died 5 December 1995.
Petition to make his date of death a Tumblr holiday celebrated by talking about cool shit the gas and petroleum industries don’t want us to know about, and fighting to continue his work.
Happy Clair Cameron Patterson day!
Oh, hey, it’s almost Clair Cameron Patterson day!
Realistically I could never get rid of tumblr because it gives me the illusion of a community of strange young women all around my same age, all slowly figuring out how to live too
Two rules for creating anything.
1) Make it weird.
2) Make it with love.
Happy Ides of March!!
January was a tough year but we made it
i don't think people understand the irony of the date on this post. yes it's jan 31st and it's a mood so every jan 31st we reblog it. but guys. . . this was made in Jan 2020. By the first week of February covid numbers were finally starting to come out of china, by mid Feb Italy was shutting down and by the end of Feb half the world was entering their covid lockdowns. OP Jan may have be tough but you had a big storm coming
a raven father (i call him "pants") I've been feeding sometimes likes to sit outside my window and either wait for more food or just listen to the stuff I'm watching while I draw. Today's a colder day so he likes to fluff up a bit, and I kid you not :
this is an accurate representation of my view
Pants sure is pantsing today
Common raven (Corvus corax)
Oh my god, i love Pants.
Early part of the sunrise at Leaser Lake.
I know tatarian honeysuckle, Lonicera tatarica, is invasive, but it looked pretty nice right then.
Not my finest imo but after all these years this post from May of 2016 is still my most popular.

@jeanmoreaux Thanks for the reminder. This one is too iconic to be missed.
And her sister Phthalo Blue, another slam dunk for copper!
Let's not forget phthalo red
Yeah I brought the phthalo siblings back together
