I find it funny that almost every complaint I've seen about S5 can be explained with conformitygate and a surprise Vol4.
"Why is XYZ never explained?"
It's a fake-out ending, there's another episode or more. It'll get explained then.
"Why did we waste so much time with Holly and the Kids?"
To establish lore that's used to create the fakeout ending.
"You aren't like your brother, you are your brother!" Is blatantly foreshadowing that Mike's going to have a parallel to Holly's arc. Holly the Heroic = Mike the Brave
"Why does Max get to claim all she needed was Lucas, but Will has to be independent?"
To establish how they'll get out of Camazotz, and to remove the unhealthy component from Byler (thus making the relationship based on want rather than need) before they get together.
"Why was the finale so bad?"
It's satire. They're taking the piss out of the mainstream audience. Plus, they're also mocking those who think that ship was peak romance.
"Why do the interviews not match up with what we got?"
The comments that don't match up, they keep saying "the final episode" or "the last episode" and never "The Finale'". Not a technically a lie.
"They claim they didn't cut any scenes, but we have evidence of scenes that weren't used."
We haven't seen all the episodes yet.
"Why are the Duffers saying stupid shit in all these interviews?"
They need the GA to realise the finale was bad. It's doubtful they would manage on their own, so they need a nudge in the right direction.
Will admit, they have gone a bit too far with this in some of their comments. There's going to need to be quite a bit of grovelling and donations to charities that support said minorities to earn forgiveness for that.
"[Comment about how the characters who are minorities were treated in the finale]"
This was the satirical ending that shows just how bad 'watering it down to please pearl clutchers and conservatives' is for the narrative integrity of the story, the media literacy of the audience, and how society views minorities.
Conservatives expect the straight white male characters to be in the spotlight, thus all the characters who are not get reduced to caricatures and stereotypes.
"The episode should have dropped on the 7th. It didn't, so it's not happening."
Jamie only ever said that "It begins" on the 7th. Which it did. They posted the first of the zero context ominous episode count up, and the second was uploaded today.
Also, there's something poetic about making the GA and non-analytical fans of this show experience what the analytical parts have gone through since the beginning (particularly Bylers and the OG "Henry is a MF victim" truthers). Plus it was fun to bait the audience who claims "queerbait" isn't a thing, maybe they might learn something (probably not)
Feel free to send more my way.
