Sage had thought it would be something more serious and relevant, so she had to let out a little chuckle when she finally asked her question. “I think… I mean, it’s a little lame, but I studied through the lockdown, actually. So… I’m not exactly one to judge or tell you what’s lame or not.”
Daphne laughed at herself. Then she said “I’m glad to know I’m not the only one.” She found that studying was a good distraction from everything that was happening. Plus, the routine was comforting. “If you ever want someone to study with, please let me know. At least this way I can’t be accused of being anti-social.”
Rowan looked up as Daphne spoke, smiling at the blonde as she sat up a little straighter and shrugged her shoulders. “How does anyone hold up when two of their classmates were… you know.” She sighed, letting her chin rest in her palm. “Not really much to talk about.” She looked her friend for a long moment. “How about you? How are you handling all this?” she asked, waving her hand around in the space.
Daphne nodded her head in agreement. “Sorry, I suppose that was a stupid question.” She knew everyone was feeling the loss of the the two murdered students. She frowned. “Honestly, I’m confused. I don’t like situations I don’t know how to fix.” It was in her nature to try and make everything better when something was wrong. “Plus I’m scared.” Whoever did this was still out there and was obviously dangerous.
“ I would offer assistance but I’ve only been here for a couple of months. “ He attempts to laugh but it only came out like a snort. He nods at her statement. Georgetown has a massive library too but Gallagher’s library was quite something. Apparently, it has a restricted area. “ Everything here seems much better than anywhere else. Where is Tulane? “
She laughed good-naturedly at his words. “Thanks, I appreciate the sentiments” she said. “I have a feeling only someone who has worked in this library for years would know how to find what they’re looking for.” Its why she always went to a librarian right away if she needed to find something specific. “”Gallagher expects only the best.” That went for both its library and its students. “Tulane University is in New Orleans. That’s where I’m from.”
“I hate feeling like this” said Daphne when she spotted Benji. “I hate feeling useless, like I can’t help anybody.” It was a feeling she wondered if he had too, given their shared major. Not being able to help remind her of when her sister had been kidnapped. It was the same feeling of helplessness she’d had then. “Give me someone with a physical injury and I would know what to do.” But right now, the pain was all emotional, and Daphne knew there was no easy fix to that.
Daphne glanced around the dorm room she shared with Esme. “I need to clean” she said after a moment. Cleaning would take her mind off of the stress she was feeling. “This place is a pigsty.” It wasn’t, not really. Despite the dorm being fairly small, Daphne did her best to keep it clean. “And its been too long since I’ve washed any of my clothes.” As if to prove her point, she gestured to the one dirty shirt that had missed the hamper and ended up on a chair. Was she being over-dramatic right now? Yes. Did she realize it? No. “I don’t suppose you’d be interested in helping, would you?”
Daphne spotted one of the Georgetown students in the common room on the fifth floor, where she’d been planning to meet a friend. “You were friends with Cassie, right?” she asked. Then she shook her head at her own question. “Sorry, I didn’t meant for that to come out the way it sounded. I’m not here to pump you for details about her life.” She’d been asking because she felt sorry for the students who had known the dead girl. “I just wanted to ask how you are holding up?”
Daphne found Rowan in the common room on the fifth floor. “How are you holding up?” she asked her friend. The blonde knew she wasn’t a doctor. At least, not yet. But that didn’t stop her from showing concern for her friends. She figured it was only natural, given everything they’d all been through recently. “Do you want to talk?”
Daphne glanced through the stacks in the library. Turning to the nearest person passing by, she said “I’ve been here three years and I still find it pretty much impossible to find anything unless I ask for help.” Which made sense, given the nature of the school, but was still somewhat annoying. “Still, I will admit the way they organize books here is much more aesthetically appealing than it was at Tulane.”
“Shoot” Daphne said as she dropped a box. She’d been attempting to clean out her dorm, hoping that some early spring cleaning would help clear her mind from everything that had happened lately. She’d gotten as far as the sidewalk outside the dorms when the box had slipped from her hands, causing books to spill everything. She glanced around to see if anyone had spotted her clumsy moment. Seeing Camp, she chuckled and said “I suppose that’s what I get for not just buying the digital versions instead.”
Daphne was heading into the dorms when she spotted one of the fourth years. She gave her a small smile. “Are you feeling ready for graduation?” she asked. She knew it was still a few months off before the seniors graduated. But she wondered if everything that had happened made them look forward to it more or feel less prepared than ever.
Daphne was in the common room on the first floor, baking cupcakes. Maybe it wasn’t the best use of her time, but it was good for taking her mind off everything that had occurred this week. Glancing up when she heard someone else enter the common room, she said “I was just about to start making cupcakes. Would you like to help me?”
“I have a very important question for you” Daphne said to Sage. “On a school of 1 to 10, how lame would it be for me to go to the library and study right now?” She knew there were no classes this week. She should be recovering from what happened to the two students. Or at least taking it easy until classes picked back up. But she hoped studying might take her mind off everything that had happened.
drinking on any occasion was a horrible idea , she wasn’t 20 anymore. her hangovers weren’t as subdued as they used to be. the whole world spun and people must’ve thought she was giving labor with the amount of deep breaths she had to take. wearing sunglasses indoors was never a subtle move , but its the only thing that seemed to be helping. “ i think your thoughts are a little too loud for me , “ she told the person who entered the room to find sofia sprawled out in one of the shared couches.

“Are you okay?” Daphne asked, her brow furrowed in concern for the brunette. “Because - and please don’t take this the wrong way - you look terrible.” She wondered if the other student was in pain. She was certainly acting like she was in pain. “Is there anything I can do to help?” Daphne was the sort who was always trying to help people. It was one reason she’d chosen to major in medical training, after all.
paulina peers outside of her dorm. there’s still people roaming the halls or moping, rather. if there’s one thing she’s good at it’s remaining calm in sticky situations. she’s had her time to internally freak out, now she just wants to cheer everyone up. “want some ice cream?” she offers. a pint of vanilla bean held by her pink manicured fingertips. @gallagherstart
As soon as the students had been informed they could leave their rooms, Daphne had decided to take a walk through the floor. She might not be able to do much, but at least she could help if anybody on this floor was hurt or in need of medical assistance. Once she was fairly confident everyone seemed okay (or as okay as could be expected) she relaxed a little. After all, there was nothing else she could do until the lockdown lifted. So when she heard the brunette mention ice cream, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to take her up on the offer. “I would love some ice cream” she said after a moment, a small smile on her face. “I feel like there’s no problem in the world ice cream can’t make at least a little bit better.”
⌠ CLAIRE HOLT, 27, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER ⌡ welcome back to gallagher academy, DAPHNE PALMER! according to their records, they’re a THIRD year, specializing in MEDICAL TRAINING; and they DID NOT go to a spy prep high school. when i see them walking around in the halls, i usually see a flash of (pale pink lipstick, eyes the color of the ocean, diamond earrings). when it’s the (gemini)’s birthday on 06/11/1992, they always request their GUMBO from the school’s chefs. looks like they’re well on their way to graduation.
Daphne was born in New Orleans, approximately ten minutes behind her fraternal twin sister
Her family was a pretty prominent part of New Orleans high society, and she is able to trace both sides of her family back to when the city was founded
Her parents were both spies who worked as assassins for hire (her mom is a Gallagher alum who majored in threat elimination and her dad went to Blackthorne)
Daphne and her twin grew up blissfully unaware of what their parents did for a living
When Daphne was 18, her twin was kidnapped
Although the Palmers quietly paid the ransom money, her sister was never seen or heard from again
Daphne believes that something went wrong with the kidnapping and her sister was killed, although she has no solid answers as to what actually happened
She majored in criminal justice at university, and spent all her free time looking for any clues as to what happened to her sister
A few years ago, she stumbled upon evidence about her parents’ secret lives as spies
Confronting them, she learned the truth: her sister was kidnapped as leverage against the Palmers because of their jobs
Once she learned the truth, she dug even deeper and learned about Gallagher
As a form of making amends for her parents being assassins, she decided to enroll in the school and chose to major in medical training
Her ultimate goal is to take a job for the government where she treats spies who can’t go to a regular hospital when they get injured (because it would raise questions)
