can we talk ab how Toph was nowhere to be found in TSR when the like fights were happening ab KAtara wanting revenge? The writers knew it would just have her like “fuck yeah, I wanna kill this bitch too, let’s go” so they just had her like… not there… LOL

Also if Toph were there it would have killed the “tomboy vs girly girl” thing that is so tied to the way this episode dichotomizes Katara and treats her anger as unnatural and opposed to her more “feminine” nurturing side. I think it’s telling that both Toph and Suki “I’m a warrior but I’m a girl too” are mysteriously absent when the guys are telling Katara that being angry and wanting revenge will ruin her.

things i always keep in my backpack: 

the bible (king james edition)

a copy of the U.S. consitution

a copy of my school’s current rulebook

i do this so that whenever someone at school tries to make a point and then defends it by saying ‘it’s in the constitution!’ or ‘it’s from the bible!’ or something else along those lines, i can pull out my own copy and say, ‘where exactly does it say that?’

also it’s just great to confuse people by pulling a fucking book of school rules out of nowhere in order to discuss what qualifies as a dresscode violation.

today during lunch a kid and i were debating the gender of god and he said “god’s a man in the bible” and i said “i’m pretty sure god is technically nonbinary or genderfluid, but let me check that” and i unzipped my backpack and the boy said “what’s she doing?” and my friend replied “she’s getting her bible” and i’m not sure how he felt when i set it down on the lunch table and flipped open to genesis but i definitely felt amazing.

So the Jet/Zuko fight scene is great for many reasons but can you imagine, sitting in dunkins donuts, sipping your dunkaccino, and this crazed teenager comes in with these enormous. hooks? and accuses the ALSO teenaged cashier of being a russian sleeper agent and there’s a cop who tries to diffuse the situation but instead of letting things de-escalate the cashier leaps over the counter, steals the cop’s gun, and says “i’ll give you a show” i mean-

Zutara Week 2022 Day 1: Tradition

Unfortunately this is the only prompt I was able to get done this year. I really wish I had been able to do them all (it’s tragic because I even have some roughs for mini animatics for almost every day ToT who knows maybe I’ll finish them one of these days), but alas I ran out of time and energy just getting off of a project and being in my 9th month of pregnancy. But hey wouldn’t it be fun if my baby was born during this year’s Zutara Week. lol Anywho, just a very short little mini-animatic for this prompt.

Dedicated to the ZDAS, you all are still very much in my thoughts. n.n

ZKBB fic: take me back, to the place I've never been

Finally able to tell that I wrote a thing for @zkbigbang this year! With the help of amazing beta reader @naladot and wonderful artists @midnightmaestra and @juldooz-atla I wrote 'take me back, to the place I've never been'. Separated from their friends by walls of stone, Zuko and Katara will have to find their own way out of the Crystal Catacombs. A reluctant companionship ensues. How much can you confide in the person who you swore was your enemy? What if you realize you have so much more in common than you thought? And whose side are you on, really?

had a minor crisis when 12ft.io went down yesterday and thankfully it's back now but this seems like a good opportunity to compile a list of similar paywall-evading tools in case 12ft ever gets canned for real:

12ft.io: the legend himself. definitely my favorite of the bunch by virtue of being the easiest to use (and the easiest url to remember), but it's configured to disable paywall evasion for a handful of popular sites like the new york times, so you'll have to go elsewhere for those.

printfriendly: works great; never had any issues with removing paywalls, even on domains that don't work with 12ft.io. since this site is literally designed to make sites print-friendly, it might simplify the overall formatting of the page you're trying to access, which can be a good or bad thing. my only real issue is that the "element zapper" (which lets you remove content blocks from the print-friendly preview) is a little sensitive if you're browsing on a touchscreen device, which means you might accidentally delete a paragraph when you're just trying to scroll. but if that happens you can reload the page and it'll revert everything back to its original state.

fifteen feet: basically a 12ft clone, minus 12ft's restrictions. haven't used it much since I only discovered it yesterday in the wake of 12ft's 451 error but it seems to do the trick.

archive.today: an archival tool very similar to the wayback machine, but it also works as a de facto paywall removal tool. (the wayback machine seems to remove paywalls as well, but archive.today has better UX imo and is way faster to use.)

and an honorable mention for sci-hub: only works for scientific/academic journals, not random news articles, but the other sites listed above only work for random news articles and not academic publications so you gotta have this one in your toolbelt for full coverage. pubmed is your oyster.
