LEGO Trans Youth charity Buildathon on October 16th (and beyond)

Hey! Some of you may have heard about me acquiring an especially large LEGO set recently… well, I’m finally going to build it.

This 5544 piece, modular, 1-metre-long, 30cm tall, 13cm deep behemoth of a set (featuring 14 minifigures) will almost certainly take two people well over 24 hours to build, and I have no intention of stopping (or sleeping…) until the whole thing is built. And best yet? I will be livestreaming the entire process on Twitch.

Considering it’s a Harry Potter set, and with JK Rowling’s history of transphobia & transmisogyny, I’ve elected to donate a portion of the money earned in the stream to a charity focused on providing resources to trans youth in the United Kingdom – Mermaids UK. As a trans person in the UK – where we are rapidly losing our rights – I wish I had made contact with Mermaids when I was younger; they do a fantastic job guiding trans youth all across the country, and they deserve way more attention and recognition.

The stream will begin on Friday the 16th of October, starting in the late afternoon/evening (UK time) and continuing for as long as I need to throughout the rest of the weekend, so mark your calendars – and if you’re as forgetful as I am, maybe follow me on Twitch early so you get notifications when I go live.

Please, feel free to come along, and invite anybody who you think might be interested – whether it’s a friend who’s really into LEGO, or somebody who has felt exhausted & heartbroken about the Harry Potter franchise in the wake of JK Rowling’s bigotry, or a member of the LGBT community who’d be thrilled to watch a trans person trash Rowling’s legacy for 24+ hours, any extra viewers are encouraged!

bro i fucking hate that list of ‘terf dogwhistles’ that lists a bunch of things that are for the most part in no way inclining the person is a terf like. ace/aro exclusionism? saying q/r is a slur? being a transmed or saying you have to have dysphoria to be trans? however you feel abt those things they aren’t terf related, and trying to push the agenda that they are just hurts trans women. 

there are definite terf dogwhistles! things like liberal use of the word ‘female’, ‘TRAs’ or ‘troons’ being used on their blog, ‘TIM’ or ‘trans-identified male’, urls that involve the uterus or ovaries or so on, posts abt people forcing lesbians to be attracted to men, etc. but you can’t just say whatever you want, or things you personally are opposed to, is terf rhetoric. 

i hate transmeds! i think they massively bring down the trans community and it’s inherently a deeply self-centered and ignorant ideology to have! however, you can’t just say that being truscum is terf rhetoric. objectively, that doesn’t make sense. 

even transmisogyny on its own can’t be called a terf dogwhistle. plenty of people are capable of being transmisogynist without having a terf worldview. for example - trans men talking over trans women/dominating discussions in trans spaces, or some trump supporter calling a trans woman a slur? both examples of transmisogyny! however, in neither case is the aggressor a terf.

Watched an episode that show where the guy interviews celebrities while giving them increasingly spicy hot wings and giving them increasingly hostile interview questions and learned that Gordon Ramsay is a total right-wing misogynistic scumbag and also learned that he’s a Huge wimp and can dish it out but really really can’t take it

The hotter the wings got, the shittier stuff he started saying. Like during the mild wings, he was just talking about his chef training, and when the wings got hotter he started complaining about snowflakes and made fun of the Woody Allen/Mia Farrow thing.

He also just couldn’t handle the hot wings. The interviewer guy was eating the same wings as him but was fine but Gordon Ramsay was having a meltdown over them and got so frustrated about it that he threw one of the wings.

He also got read bad reviews about his restaurants during the hotter wings and went on a rant about how much he hates Guy Fieri after the interviewer read a bad review from Guy Fieri.

So yes, Gordon Ramsey is very sensitive to hot sauce. Of course he is. He’s from the UK. They think pepperoni is spicy there.

Gordon Ramsey is also famously incapable of taking criticism. You all already know this. You’ve seen his shows. Anyone that’s ever interacted with somebody before can watch the way he talks to people and immediately conclude he’s an absolute wimp. He’s mean. He’s an asshole. You guys all already know this.

But the “right wing misogynist” thing is something OP just decided to throw in for flavor. Yes, he mentions snowflakes- to complain about avocado lattes. Not safe spaces or activism. Avocado lattes. Which. Come on.

His “rant” on Guy Fieri was joking about the fact he named a sauce Donkey Sauce.

I did not see anything mentioning women in a negative light in the transcript.

No guys that’s the funniest part. Jensen said at a panel once that the bees didn’t show up clear enough on camera, so they ended up just using CGI.

They went through the trouble of hiring a beekeeper, filling the set with tens of thousands of bees, getting bee keeper suits for the whole crew, the actors getting stung multiple times, and it was literally all for nothing

please do not donate to change[.] org. i doubt that any of the money that the organization asks for will go to humanitarian causes.  

do not donate to the philippine government. please don’t. there’s a bigger chance of them taking emergency funds and donations for themselves than them actually using it to help people out. 

with that in mind, it’s better to donate to local donation drives as well as local organizations.
