Based off a scenario I thought about

"It's pretty, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it's pretty."

As the last of the fireworks shimmered in the night sky, leaving only the view of the starry, unmoving scenery, you turned your gaze to properly face your companion. You found that they already met your gaze, a soft smile tugging at their lips.

"Were they staring at me this whole time? Nah, that's a crazy assumption. It's probably just a coincidence because the firework show ended already." That train of thought ran through your head like a bullet train.

"It's dark, we should go now. " Your companion said, cutting through the unspoken tension and breaking the silence. They stood up from the grassy patch and brushed off their bottoms, extending a hand, waiting.

You placed your hand in theirs without a second thought, using it as leverage to prop yourself up. Your free hand was used to brush at any dirt or stray leaves that may have been sticking to where you pressed yourself against the floor.

Even after you got up, their hand never left yours, and it was left unmentioned, as if it went unnoticed. The air filled with lively conversation and banter as per usual as they walked you home, as per usual.

This tale tells of a pair of intertwined fates, star crossed lovers.Destined to be together yet forever apart.

It all started when Y/N woke up in the middle of the night and found a rather good looking man badly injured, seeking help and shelter in the heavy downpour. Y/N quickly ushered him to the fireplace and closed the door. They hurried to the bathroom to get some fresh towels. The rain dripped from his silky white hair with a streak of red and his intricate traditional Samurai dress. Due to the dampess of his clothes, it stuck to his skin.

Y/N quickly wrapped the man in the fluffy towel like a burrito.

"Undress yourself. "

The man's face flushed, startled.

" What?! "

Realising the content of what they just said, Y/N quickly fixed their sentence as their face heated up, " No! No! I meant undress yourself so I can treat your wounds, sorry. " Inwardly cursing themself, they decided to shut their mouth. Silence fell between them. Y/N now had a first-hand understanding of the phrase 'the silence is deafening'.

As they were tending to the injuries which were quite deep,and led them to wonder what caused these. Y/N paused their train of thought.Cleared their throat, trying to break the silence, while also contradicting their earlier promise to keep quiet. "So, my name is Y/N, what's yours? "" It's, uhm, Kaedehara Kazuha. "Y/N choked on their saliva in shock, accidentally pressing the cottonbud they were holding into the cut. Kazuha hissed in pain while Y/N quickly said, " Sorry! So... You're the wanted criminal the Shogun is looking for? "He coughed awkwardly and replied, " Yeah. If it bothers you, I will leave immediately. " The man made a movement to leave, but Y/N quickly shook their head.

Fast forward a few months of Kazuha's temporary stay, he made a full recovery. He brought up something called the Crux, a ship, where they went on daring adventures and travelled the whole world. Y/N's heart squeezed everytime he brought it up as it reminded them he was only here for a unknown amount of time and would leave and any time. They had gotten used to Kazuha's comforting presence and his clean smell, like a sunny day with a light breeze. Unbeknownst to Y/N, Kazuha felt the same. The kindness and their adorable body language drew him in and before he knew it, he was a fool for them.

" No, I can't just ignore a heavily wounded person in need of help. "

Of course, both did not know of the feelings of each other. They longed for each other and one day, the feelings both kept bottled up finally overflowed. On a peaceful night, the sound of the breeze blowing, they had decided to stargaze together under the bright twinkling of the stars. This didn't really go according to plan as the tension between them was thick enough to cut with a knife. Before they knew it, their lips met and the feelings of longing came out with their actions.

Kazuha pulled away, letting them catch their breath and saying, "We should stop, this relationship won't be good for either of us when we part. If we go any further, I won't be able to control myself. "

" What if I don't want you to go? Why can't you stay? "A lump formed in their throat as they felt the tears beginning to form. They swallowed it down and quickly fanned their eyes.

" I'm sorry. We've been through this already. I have to leave,I'm a wanted criminal and you're a civilian. The longer I stay, the more dangerous it is for you. "

Y/N wanted to retort, it's fine if you stay, I'll even go with you, just don't leave. But they couldn't bring themself to say it. Deep down they understood it was just not to be. They understood it, but their heart did not.

It said, "Thank you for your care and infinite hospitality.The Crux has arrived, which signals my departure.I am forever grateful for your kindness. We will meet again when our paths intertwine once more,whether in this life or the next.Yet we will be no more than strangers,yet no less than friends.it is for the good of both of us that it ends this way. Perhaps in another life,under different circumstances,we shall be able tread the path we could not.

The next day, Y/N woke up and went to the kitchen. The house was oddly quiet. Usually Kazuha would be humming a tune or the sound of sizzling accompanied by a mouthwatering aroma would be present. Y/N looked around the whole house, no sign of his white hair, no sign of his clothes. It was like he was never even there. Maybe he had gone out for groceries? They held out some hope. Y/N spotted a note left on the table. They quickly picked it up and read it.

Goodbye, Y/N."

Y/N's legs gave out. They slumped to the floor and the paper flew out their hands and gently landed on the floor. Before they even realised it, tears streamed down their face and they choked on their sob. Y/N's crying shook their whole body and would definitely give them puffy eyes later. But they could care less.Fate dealt them a heavy blow.They say that time heals all wounds, but Y/N would never heal from this.

No matter how busy Jean was, she would always make time for you. The flower you always associated with her was a dandelion, which was ironic, as her title was the dandelion knight. But that wasn't why she reminded you of dandelions, it was because of her mannerisms, the way she talked to people and above all, her presence.

It was always light and airy, so refreshing. Like a bottle of water after a good exercise, or a nice soda after a long day. She was the light in your life, and vice versa. Jean was just the type of person that seemed out of reach but yet someone you wanted to hold close. No matter how many days she worked, she never felt enough. Which is why you were thankful for Kaeya and Lisa to pull her out of overworking herself. Of course, they were not the only ones to push her to take a break. You were also a reason.

After you entered her life, it felt as though a missing piece of her she never knew was gone had come back. Your mere existence was reason enough to get out of her office. Even back when you were friends, you were always just like yin and yang. Both of you were envied and admired. You balanced each other out, and that was what made it perfect.

Like dandelions, they eventually wither away. You knew this would have been a risk the moment you dated Jean, but it hit much harder than expected.

You watched as she got closer to him and made him happy, made him smile with a fond gaze that used to be directed to you, and witness that same happy fond gaze melt away when he saw you.

Well, if she made him happy, so be it. You'd saved up enough at this point to escape his house. So you left, and the redhead watched you leave, a cold unbothered gaze following your figure until it could no longer be seen. Perhaps the reason Diluc had let you and watched you leave and made sure you were safe was because you were a still, after all,a citizen of Monstadt. Or perhaps a morsel of pity he had left for his partner-no, ex-partner. Who knows?

You couldn't bear to leave Monstadt at first. It was your home after all. However, that changed rapidly as the redhead was a prominent figure in Monstadt and you practically saw the businessman at every corner. Coincidence or not, what remained of your love for him did not vanish.

So you left. To the region of eternity. It was beautiful there and you heard the rules had lightened up considerably. Of course you had all the needed documents, you were the one that was managing the documents in the Ragnvindr household after all. To perhaps lighten your beloved husband's workload so he would maybe have extra time for you. Well, it had worked.Diluc spent the extra time on someone,not you though.

Your shook their head, as if to get rid of any bad thoughts or thoughts about, well, him. Their new life began here and now. They went to live in a village and quickly assimilated into the lifestyle, even growing their own vegetables and groceries. The village all took a liking to Y/n.

On one fateful day, you saw him, again. He looked horrendous. The redhead had dark eye circles as he was conversing with the merchants in your village, making a supreme effort to seem professional and hide his fatigue yet somewhat failed.

He saw you, and his dull eyes lit up as he ran, or speed walked to you."Uh, hey, "Diluc began, " Well, you look great! "You had gotten dressed up, waiting for a certain someone. "Okay,listen, things have been horrible without you.Donna is, extremely annoying and all she knows how to do is sell flowers and laze about! Please, come back, I know I was wrong. "

Those words would have had an effect on you, eight months ago. But not anymore. After recollecting yourself from his audacity and practically shameless words, you started, "Diluc, listen-" "Hey love, some idiots didn't do their job and I had to stay back. That's why I'm late. I got you some flowers too."

A familiar voice spoke, which revealed to be the balladeer, the sixth fatui harbinger. In his usual attire, of course.

You looked back at Diluc, who had recollected himself and back at your lover. You decided to be nice and told your lover to wait for you at the bench nearby while you said your final words to the redhead. Scaramouche relented, with a annoyed sigh and a glare at the redhead, which he returned.

"Listen, Diluc, I'm sorry but this is the consequences of your own actions. Besides, I've found a better life here. Goodbye, Diluc. Have a good life with Donna. "And with that you turned on your heel and left.

When You Finally Give Up

Summary: You notice that he's changed how he act around you. No longer happy to see you, no longer smiling or teasing, no longer enjoying your company. You try your hardest to get him to like being with you again, but he just act annoyed at you all the time. There's only so much your heart can take.

You see him happily chatting with someone else at the Angel's Share, he had a smile on his face.

He talked among his fellow knights, he spoke with such cool energy.

He will be out early in the morning, late at night, never ever just at home.

Never ever just with you.

"Darling! Welcome home!" You greeted him with a usual warm welcome, spreading your arms for a hug.

It was very late, his eyes were droopy and he smelled of alcohol. You're just glad he's home before midnight, unlike the usual time he heads home.

He walked passed you, but like always, you shrugged off his cold response to your welcome.

"I made dinner a few hours ago, they've probably gone cold now, hehe." You laughed sheepishly as you followed him to the kitchen. "Might help in soaking up the booze, though." You gestured at the meal you made for him sitting on the dining table.

"I'm not hungry."

"Oh, but I can run you a bath if you want! You stink!" You laughed, but it seems that he did not find your words amusing, so your laugh died down very awkwardly.

"I'm going to bed." Kaeya heads for the stairs, wanting to go to the bedroom. "Don't bother me."

You watched as he lazily carried himself up the stairs, you wanted to help him, but you knew he'd try to push you away.

Too many nights have been like this.

Too many meals gone cold.

Too many hugs not returned.

Too many "welcome home"s with no response.

And you're getting tired.

He's changed, and you could no longer be the person he wants to be his significant other.

You tried not to wake him up with your sobs that night, along with many other nights.

After a night out with some friends, Kaeya once again came home drunk.

He stood in the living room, about to collapse just like always. He remain standing there, as if he was subconsciously waiting for something to happen.

When nothing did come up, he stood there confused.

Where are you?

"Y/N!" He yelled out.

He straightened up, walking around while calling your name. When he made it into the kitchen, his eyes widen and he immediately sobered up.

The Cavalry Captain urgently got down on his knees right beside your unconscious body lying on the floor.

Just like him... you reeked of alcohol, which he found such a misplaced scent around you. You never drink.

Quiet snores came from your lips, you seemed wasted and he knew it wouldn't be the best thing ever to wake you up when you're in such a condition.

He carried you to bed, changed your clothes to something more comfortable and proceeded to cuddle up with you for the night.

Kaeya has faint memories of you doing that for him when he comes home wasted.

He woke up in the morning and you weren't there.

It was pretty normal for the weekends, you'd wake up earlier than him to make breakfast, which he is looking forward to.

"Good morning, Kaeya."

When did that start to happen? When did your voice become so monotonous? When did you start calling him by name instead of a pet name?

You had breakfast ready as always.

...

"Do you know where she is?" Kaeya was panicking, he had been looking for you for hours. When he went home, you weren't there at all, so he'd been all around the city looking for you

Diluc looked at him unamused, "Upstairs." He answered in merely one word.

Kaeya wasted no time by commenting on Diluc's dry response, immediately heading up the second flour of Angel's Share to look for you.

You were there, drinking with a few people, wearing clothes you would never usually wear, a carefree smile on your face.

Your cheeks were tinted red, indicating that you may already be wasted.

He took quick steps towards you, holding your wrist still when you tried to drink another swing of wine. "I've been looking for you for Barbatos knows how long!"

You looked up to him, trying to wiggle his hand off your wrist. "Well, you found me! Why don't you join us for some brain mushing drinks, babe?" It was the first time he didn't like a pet name you called him.

It was too... not you. Everything that you're doing now is not you.

"Please, let's just go home." His voice was almost begging, but you ignored him.

"Come on, me and my buddies haven't even been had our money's worth of beer." Kaeya pulled you from your seat, taking the bottle of wine out of your hand and onto the table.

"Hey!"

"You're drunk and you need to go home, let's go back home, love."

And so you did. He supported you as you walked back home, and he couldn't deny how much he wanted to burst into tears when he saw you. It was pathetic really.

"Welcom home!"

"Look, look! I figured out a technique to make heart shaped pancakes without the little tool thingy."

"Love, you shouldn't drink too much! If I catch you drinking again, I'm gonna leave you lying on the side of the road."

"Good night, Kaeya! I love you..."

The sound of pleasant piano notes echoed throughout Y/n's room before a low and jarring thung! was heard.They sighed out with frustration. Every time they tried to practice for their upcoming concert with their new piece, which was amazing and also happened to be a surprise for their anniversary with their adorable lover, Cove Holden of 5 years! However, going back to the problem at hand, their concert was in 3 weeks. Long story short, it was not a lot of time for Y/n who was constantly hitting a wrong note or when they actually did the whole song correctly, went over the time limit.

"Knock knock, hello love? " a muffled groan in response, their face smashed on the piano in exasperation. Cove came in and sat beside Y/n, gently rubbing their back to offer some comfort to them. "Come on, let's relax together. You've been at this all day. You'll feel better if you clear your mind before you try again,alright? " Before they could say anything in response, he states once again, "besides, it's in 3 weeks. You have like, 504 hours, okay? That's a lot of time. " Y/n lifted up their head before replying, "Nooooooo, it's not. I gonna keep working away at it or else I'm gonna look like a fool at my concert. "

Cove looked at them with a "really? " look, before deciding to throw them over his shoulder, using his abnormally tall build to his advantage and tucked them into the couch. "Okay, as your lover, you need to rest before you perish. Also, eat something! You haven't eaten since breakfast. "He pouted, with a serious look but actually just looked really cute.

" Maybe it wouldn't be that bad to rest a bit. "They then watched a few movies cosied up together while eating take out that Cove had ordered.

With a clear mind and fully relaxed, Y/n tried again and it wasn't, well, perfect but it sure was a step up from their previous tries! And time practically flew by as they practiced long and hard to perfection, right before their concert. With their lover there to catch them when they fall, of course. He had a front view to their anniversary song, but he didn't know that... Yet. " This song is dedicated to my amazing partner of 5 years, happy anniversary, my love. "

And with that, they began their elegant and capturing piece, practically hypnotising their audience. The song was melodic, sweet and had much depth and feeling to it. It left the audience speechless and Y/n got a standing ovation. Cove was crying with joy and practically knocked them over backstage with his rib crushing embrace that they happily accepted, chuckling slightly.

Obviously they went to celebrate their anniversary and the successful performance in the privacy of their own home, so they could have privacy of course.They happily enjoyed their fancy dinner that Cove cooked up and he proudly stated, "I'm happy it went well for you. You deserve it after how hard you've worked, and I love you so much. "

"Fuck! Y/n! Pick up! Please... "The ginger haired, Ajax panicked, holding the buzzing phone close to his ear while getting dressed, prepared to go to their family's house after they left last night. Speaking of last night, he could only remember fuzzy bits. Dang it! It was all his fault! How could he not know what his lover was feeling?What's wrong with him? His hangover was killing him. He probably drank too much last night.All he could remember yelling something angrily at them, before their eyes downcast as they practically spilled waterfalls.

Running to the house, before remembering to pick up a bouquet of flowers, dialing them non stop all the way. He passed by what seemed to be the scene of a accident near a bar. Curiousity got the better of him and he got a glance of some marked out chalk of a body,and a faint puddle of red. Pft, what more did he expect? It probably happened last night or something. Right now his top priority was winning back Y/n.

Chewing on a mint and clearing his throat, he ringed the doorbell of Y/n's family's house. Their mother answered the door, looking miserable, her eyes swollen. That wasn't important, Ajax! Focus, you're here for Y/n." Uh, Hi madam, Can I see Y/n? "He chuckled slightly nervously, pulling at his collar that seemed to be choking him.

He was met with silence, and then a shake of the head. Puzzled, he replied, " Oh! It's alright if they're still angry at me, if you could just give them this? "Hand sticking out to offer the bouquet of vibrant roses.

The bouquet suddenly hit the floor with a soft tsh, petals going astray and ruining the careful arrangement of the flowers. Ears ringing and suddenly getting a migraine, Ajax asked again, denial in his voice, his voice breaking and trembling, fragile. " I'm sorry, could you please repeat that again? "Y/n's mother finally looked up, pain in her eyes and hurt in her voice, repeated, " I said, Y/n was hit by a truck yesterday. We were informed by the police. "

"Ah, hahahaha, I see... I'll head home now, thank you for telling me. " Ajax picked up the broken bouquet of roses and threw it away. Choked sobs and sniffles could be heard as Y/n packed their belongings and left. The first place they went to was the nearby bar, drowning their sorrows with alcohol, ordering more and more. However, the pain aching in the depths of their heart never left. Y/n still longed for him and loved him.

As they got kicked out of the bar for overconsumption, they wobbled unsteadily on the streets. Bright lights overtook their vision and a loud wham! was heard. As they lay on the floor, velvet red blood slowly and steadily flowed out of them, creating a puddle for Y/n's final moments. Their phone laid with them, buzzing aggressively with the words, "My love" lighting up the screen.
