I have been wondering for at least a year what your icon's from?
Okay, I had to go back and delve into the source material to explain this.
A few years ago, I found what I can only assume to be my third grade math notebook. I’ve put that together because my third grade teacher’s name appears in it once, and there is also a single page that looks like this:
Now, you might notice that in the top left corner, I determined that 30 x 4 is either 70 or 170, which was in retrospect a troubling predictor of things to come, such as the fact that I just looked at this and went “hehe, oh no sweetie, it’s not 70, it’s 90,″ and then froze and went “wait, shit, is it 70?” then shook my head at how silly I was being and went along thinking it was 90 until maybe two seconds ago.
There is a simple explanation as to why I remain unable to do simple math, and it is contained on the rest of the pages of my 3d grade math notebook, which are either blank or look like this:
Fig 3: I Am Sensing A Theme
After Christmas Horse, I seem to have warmed up to other animals. As you can see, my first foray was the faint bird visible through Christmas Horse (see Fig 4), and then I appear to have discovered a new muse.
Fig 5: Anatomical Studies
I then ventured into bold, abstract concepts, such as my second favorite picture in this notebook:
Fig 6: Garfield examines A Shape
Thereafter, I seem to have returned to horses, for several dozen more drawings that I am not showing you for the reason that they are essentially identical to the foregoing. There is then the beginning of a math problem that I did not finish, so if anyone knows what 78 x 3 is, hit me up.
And then, after about 15 blank pages, we hit it. We hit something I can neither rationalize or explain. You’ve doubtless gotten the sense of my artistic style by now, so hopefully you can understand why I have spent the last fourish years utterly entranced by this unprecedented discovery. The abrupt shift in style. The pose. The non-Horse or Garfield subject matter. The sheer, raw sensuality.
Without any further preamble, I present to you:
